Second Edition Lunars Now Shapechanging Charms

Finding the Spirit's Shape
Cost: -- (1m or 2m); Mins: Essence 1; Type: Permanent.
Keywords: Shapechanging
Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: None

All Lunars begin with this charm. The player chooses a totem animal for the Lunar, smaller than an elk but larger than a cat (unless the Lunar also begins with either Towering Beast Form or Humble Mouse Shape). The Lunar can reflexively, at any time, assume the shape of their totem animal or their normal shape for one mote. For two motes, a Lunar may assume the shape of any natural animal whose Heart's Blood she has tasted. This is an inherent ability of Lunars and does not count as charm use.

Deadly Beastman Transformation
Cost: 5m, 1w; Mins: Essence 1; Type: Simple (Spd 5, DV -0) or Reflexive (if a Full Moon).
Keywords: Shapechanging, Obvious.
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisites: Finding the Spirit's Shape

The Essence of the Full Moon is aspected towards battle, and perhaps no charm illustrates this as clearly as Deadly Beastman Transformation. Upon assuming the aspect of the beastman, the Lunar gains natural weaponry with Speed 5, +3 Accuracy, +2 Defense, doing +4L damage and with Rate 4 (these statistics may represent bites, claws, horns, etc). In addition, the Lunar receives a number of Gift submodule enhancements equal to his Essence at the time he purchases the charm. The Lunar may purchase others, but the number of Gifts can never exceed the Lunar's Essence +1. These Gifts are invoked for free and as a reflexive action when the beastman form is assumed, but they can be activated independently as well. The Lunar may take any Gift, but it is not socially acceptable among Lunars to "mix n' match" aspects of different totems (putting tentacles on an eagle beastman form, etc), for this smacks of Chimerism. For every Gift the Lunar takes that does not align with the Lunar's totem, consider other Lunars to have a +1 to their MDVs against any social attacks the Lunar may make against them. Finally, the Lunar may employ Fifth Attribute Excellencies for Strength, Dexterity, and Stamina without a willpower cost while in this form.

Magnificent Beastman Transformation
Cost: 5m, 1w; Mins: Essence 1; Type: Simple (Spd 5 -0 DV) or Reflexive (if Changing Moon).
Keywords: Shapechanging, Obvious.
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisites: Finding the Spirit's Shape

The Essence of the Changing Moon is fluid and adaptive. Upon invocation of this charm, the Lunar's countenance changes; she does not necessarily assume a beastman shape (though she may, if she wishes), but the subtle and fey changes enacted upon her by this charm leave their mark, and so any onlooker will know she is using a charm of some sort. However, once the Lunar begins to talk, they will most likely no longer care. The Speed of any social attack the Lunar makes is reduced by 1; this applies to Presence, Performance, and Investigation attacks (as Linguistics attacks do not have a speed, they are unaffected). In addition, the Rate of Presence and Investigation attacks are increased by one. Gifts work as Deadly Beastman Transformation, though they are picked from a different list, of course. Finally, the Lunar may employ Fifth Attribute Excellencies for Charisma, Manipulation, and Appearance without a willpower cost while in this form.

Sagacious Beastman Transformation
Cost: 5m, 1w; Mins: Essence 1; Type: Simple (Spd 5, DV -0) or Reflexive (if No Moon).
Keywords: Shapechanging, Obvious
Duration: One Scene
Prerequisites: Finding the Spirit's Shape

Humble Mouse Shape
Cost: --; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Permanent.
Keywords: Shapechanging
Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: Finding the Spirit's Shape

Prey's Skin Disguise
Cost: -- (4m); Mins: Essence 3; Type: Permanent.

Shaping the Ideal Form
Cost: 1m; Mins: Appearance 2; Type: Simple.
Keywords: Shapechanging
Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: Any Appearance Excellency

This charm allows the Lunar to make changes to his True Form. Merely cosmetic changes, such as changing hair, eye, or skin color, require no roll, merely a moment's concentration. More complex changes, such as altering one's gender, may require an Appearance + Medicine roll; this is left to the ST's discretion. The Lunar cannot gain any manner of die bonus from use of this charm, nor does it allow impersonation of specific individuals.

Lunar Blood Reshaping Technique
Cost: 3m, 1Lhl; Mins: Appearance 3, Essence 3; Type: Simple.
Keywords: Shapechanging
Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: Shaping the Ideal Form

By allowing a willing subject to taste the Lunar's blood, the Lunar may make cosmetic changes to that subject. The range of possible changes is as that of Shaping the Ideal Form, though all changes with Lunar Blood Reshaping Technique require an Appearance + Craft roll. Changes made with this charm are temporary, fading after a day, unless both the Lunar and the subject spend a single experience point to lock in the changes.

Artful Progenitor Method
Cost: 10m, 1w, 1Lhl, 1xp; Mins: Appearance 3, Essence 4; Type: Simple.
Keywords: Shapechanging
Duration: Instant
Prerequisites: Lunar Blood Reshaping Technique

The frequent servitors of the Lunar Exalted are the dreaded beastmen, offspring of man or beast and the Lunar himself. What many do not know is that not all beastmen are literal descendants of a Lunar Exalt; Artful Progenitor Method allows an alternate method of creating beastmen. The Lunar spends the cost of the charm and rolls Appearance + Craft, and receives a number of mutation points equal to the successes on this roll that he may spend on a single willing subject who has tasted his blood. The Lunar does not have to use all of the mutation points, and he may also use this charm to remove extant mutations at a one-for-one cost. Changes made with this charm are permanent. The standard rules for Willpower vs Wyld Mutation and survival outside of the Wyld, found on page 210 of Exalted: The Lunars, first edition (at least, until we see 2e Mutation rules).

Gifts

All of these charms are Permanent, with Indefinite Duration, the Shapechanging, Gift, and Obvious keywords and an Essence Minimum of 1. The Essence costs listed are for activation outside of a beastman form.

Deadly Beastman Transformation Gifts (examples)

Fish Tail Technique: (1m) The Lunar may move unencumbered through water or other fluids. This gift doesn't grant the ability to breathe underwater.

Gill- Breathing Technique: (1m) The Lunar may breathe underwater. A Lunar with a non-amphibious totem may have an amphibious beastman form without MDV penalties.

Rat Head Technique: (2m) The Lunar may deform his body to a truly grotesque level, able to squeeze through spaces as small as a mouse-hole.

Panther Stride Stance: (2m) The Lunar's running rate is doubled and jumping distances are tripled. Used in conjunction with the Full Moon anima, it triples running speed and multiplies jumping distances by five.

Cat-Falling Attitude: (1m) The Lunar takes no damage from falls less than 50 feet; the standard falling distance damage table begins to apply at that point, but the Lunar never takes Lethal damage from a fall unless he falls onto a treacherous surface, such as lava or spikes.

Tree-Dwelling Jaguar Claws: (1m) The Lunar may move at half her normal movement rate vertically along any surface.

Luna's Shining Gaze: (2m) The Lunar is not affected by penalties inflicted by low-light situations. Not-so-stealthily added by Caelene

Spider-Hand Climbing Style: (2m) The Lunar may move at her full movement rate across any solid surface, vertically, horizontally, and even upside down. This is non-totem for all Lunars except insect or arthropod totem Lunars.

Piercing Claws: (2m) The Lunar's natural weapons awarded by DBT gain the Piercing tag. When activated out of DBT, this makes the Lunar's barehanded attacks lethal.

Fluttering Wings: (2m) The Lunar grows weak wings or patagia that allow him to glide, but not fly. He does not take damage from falls.

Soaring Pinions: (4m; requires Fluttering Wings) The Lunar's wings are strong enough for true flight at about 35 miles per hour. The Lunar's wingspan is at least twice her height, and must be spread to function.

Magnificent Beastman Tranformation Gifts

Scent of Heat: (1m) The Lunar adds two to his effective Appearance for the purposes of seduction only.

Visage of Authority: (2m) An opponent must succeed at a Valor roll (Difficulty 2) to speak against the Lunar in social combat. This only applies the first time he attempts this; once he has succeeded, he needs make no other rolls for subsequent attacks. In addition, his bravery is infectious, and the Difficulty on the Valor roll for others is reduced to 1.

Hypnotic Gaze: (4m) The Lunar makes eye contact with the target and rolls Manipulation + Presence against the target's Evade MDV. If successful, all social attacks on the target while their eyes are locked are considered unnatural mental influence. Work in progress; not-so-stealthily added by Caelene
