Appearance

Lord Sesus Nybraxus was a tall, thin man, always neatly dressed with a carefully trimmed moustache and beard, wearing red and black clothing. He had dark brown eyes.

Personality:

Lord Sesus Nybraxus was basically a somewhat excitable, well-meaning lord of creation with a hard time focusing himself. He greatly enjoyed his creature comforts, but also had a contrasting love of heading out into the wilderness and finding adventure, leading him to find ways to take his comforts with him. He tried to be a good merchant, but wasn't very good at handling the administrative side of it. On the other hand, he was a magnificent salesman.

Lord Nybraxus was famed also for his grand parties. Not so degenerate as those of the Cynis family, they were often highlighted by interesting people or items he found on his expeditions. This included a troupe of singing midgets, a dancing lion, a two-headed cow, and a woman who claimed to be the Queen of the Moon.

History:

Born in 488, Lord Sesus Nybraxus was the great-great-grandson of Sesus Kajak, son of Sesus himself. His father was Sesus Mipet, his mother was Mnemon Lutabi. His parents were heavily involved in trade, though his father had spent thirty years in the Imperial Legions as a youth. After attending a local primary school with no great distinction (except in sports), he then was sent to the House of Bells, where he made a name for himself as a problem student. Nevertheless, he managed to graduate, and went on to serve for thirty five years in the Twelfth Legion. He served as a subaltern Lieutenant to one of his uncles for several years, then was made a Captain, in which capacity he served for his entire military career. It was during this time that he met and eventually married Lady Ledaal Helena, a military Sorceress.

He finally left the army when his father died, leaving his estates to Nybraxus, who left the military and came back to manage the estates and take over the family's trading business. He began making regular expeditions to the Threshold to open new trading routes, and usually worked a lengthy hunting and exploration trip into each of those journeys, accompanied by his wife and friends.

Lord Nybraxus had many adventures over the years, including the discovery of a city in the Southern deserts where he found his self-playing orchestra. He is said to have been most proud of his defeat of a Tyrant Lizard, whose head still graces his family's estates. Over the years he also became noted for his collection of luxury items, as he greatly enjoyed exploring and hunting, but also loved his comforts and wanted to take them with him.

Unfortunately, he died on one of his expeditions into the northeast in 536. Certain rumors claim whatever killed him cooked him in his own magic oven, but since no one made it back alive, the truth may never be known. His artifacts have passed on into the world, appearing in many different hands over the years.

Storyteller's Notes:

Lord Sesus Nybraxus is a 150 XP character; he's effectively a historical figure in the present who is part of the backstory of his various artifacts which are now passing hand to hand aroudn the threshold. But of course, a storyteller is perfectly free to tweak the dates in his personal history so as to have him alive and well in the present. Given the ambiguity of his death, he could also show up as a ghost or turn up in the hands of some faerie lady who decided to keep him for her harem.
