Synopsis: In the ruin of Thorns, Monkey and Kaizoku slay two of the Mask of Winters' deathknights (The Perfect Rose of Thorns and another). Having done so, they climb Juggernaut and attack the Deathlord himself -- and Monkey cracks his mask. The Deathlord curses Monkey and vanishes, leaving his shadow and an awakened Juggernaut behind.

The clash of the titans echoes from the hills surrounding Thorns. Juggernaut -- and the Mask of Winters -- watches as Pontoppidan and the newly-created monster tear each other apart. In the air between the two creatures, the Rose of Thorns hangs for a moment at the apex of her leap, her black blade held above her.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Are we in Init order? )

The Storyteller . o O ( yes. Roll for it, weapons don't apply. )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 14.

Monkey . o O ( Combo: Irreverent Monkey Humbles The Tiger: Obnoxiously Loud Shriek, Distractingly Lewd Gesture, Poo-Flinging Strike, Shadow in Noonday Sun, Shadow Over Water, and Reed in The Wind. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+7 and got 8.

Monkey rolled 1d10+16 and got 25.

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh my. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Order is: Monkey, Rose, Kaizoku. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( There's something you don't see every day! )

The Storyteller . o O ( V. true. )

Monkey . o O ( Q: Distance: How far away is she? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Dramatic leaping distance. )

The Storyteller is not about to calculate parabolic arcs.

The Storyteller . o O ( Call it within range of a Monkey Leap. She will land this turn unless knocked off course, of course. )

Monkey leaps up to intercept the deathknight. "Not so fast, Rose! I, Monkey, am here to face you!" Blinding anima banner flares forth, turning Monkey into a human torch as he meets her mid-air.

The Storyteller . o O ( Flame On! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( "Don't even think about it!" "I never do!" )

Monkey . o O ( Matrix-like 360 degree circling camera SFX. )

The Storyteller still needs to see that movie. And Batman Begins.

The Storyteller . o O ( Actually, I was thinking it'd be two quick shots: one POV behind Monkey as he leaps, and then one POV from behind the Rose as they meet in mid-air, so you see Monkey's anima flare rising up from the heaving bulk of Pontoppidan toward teh camera. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Do you do an attack of some kind, or just a leap? )

Monkey . o O ( Just a leap. Basically since it took her one turn to get from Ungoliant to mid-air, it must took one turn for me to get from Pontoppidan to mid-air too. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Got it. Her action. )

Monkey . o O ( Be gentle. :) )

As Monkey rises to meet the deathknight, she shouts in an ancient and blasphemous tongue. Her body bursts into dark flame, anima ablaze, and the air around her takes on the bitter iron taste and chill of the Void.

The Storyteller . o O ( Kaizoku. )

The Storyteller is getting more coffee.

Admiral Kaizoku narrows his eyes at the blasphemous display, blindcloth crinkling. He in turn calls out a prayer to the Sun in Old Realm as he holds his sword before him like a holy symbol. His caste mark flares as solar flames surround his body and then migrate down his arms to his daiklave, lighting it up like a brand and beating back the darkness.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Activating Corona of Radiance. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Heh. Turnabout is fair play! )

The Storyteller . o O ( 1-die stunt for essence replenishment )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( This will make for some fun clashing auras if the Rose sticks around. )

The Storyteller . o O ( And likewise for Monkey's stunt, btw. )

Monkey . o O ( Thank you. )

Monkey . o O ( Init then? )

Monkey rolled 1d10+8 and got 18.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+7 and got 16.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( I've got a mad plan! )

Monkey . o O ( You can't! I got exclusivity on all mad plans. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( You're the key to it, so don't worry. )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 15.

The Storyteller . o O ( Order is Monkey, Kaizoku, Rose. )

Monkey . o O ( No sword for her? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Not this turn. )

Admiral Kaizoku calls out "Monkey, fling me!" as he points his blade at the archer on the other great beast.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey's in mid-air. )

Monkey . o O ( You are late by one full turn. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( If anyone can get down fast, it's him! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Get down... and boogie! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Majestic radiant disco ball! )

The Storyteller . o O ( You could try to command Pontoppidan to pick you up with a tentacle and toss you over. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( That was #2 on the list. Is commanding him (or trying to) a simple action? )

TonyC [to jetman]: No and can't. You'll have to handle movement yourself.

Monkey reaches into his pouch and grabs a handful of coins and jade bits. He hurls them at Rose to distract her while palming a coin on each hands.

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sorry, didn't see the question at first. )

Monkey . o O ( Done. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, back to Kaizoku. Whatcha doin'? )

Monkey . o O ( Btw, in game terms, 3 actions. Grab coins. Throw them. Holding one action in reserve. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. We'll call it a +2 difficulty for her actions because of the shinies. )

Monkey . o O ( Shinies! )

Admiral Kaizoku grips the Heart more firmly and imposes his will on the horrific thing, commanding it to whip back a tendril above his head and then whip it at the top of its rival. As it does, he hooks his daiklave in the dead flesh of the tentacle, hanging on as he is pulled towards the archer.

The Storyteller . o O ( Two actions. First one's at difficulty 2, second one's an attack roll, difficulty 2. )

Monkey . o O ( Next time I play a far future character, I'm going to use the term "musical" to substitute "cool", "shiny", and "sweet". )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( I see said character as an idol singer otaku in a mecha game. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Minmei! )

Monkey . o O ( First, roll. Second, as long as I get my own Aestivalis, I'm cool. )

Monkey . o O ( Wait, I mean "as long as I get my own Aestivalis, it's musical." )

Monkey . o O ( Minmay has one major drawback. She never get to pilot a Valkyrie. She never even get to fire the Macross Cannon. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Lacus Clyne is more progressive in that sense... )

The Storyteller . o O ( David, roll! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( WP? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on something and got 10 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Woo! Must be meaningless! )

Monkey . o O ( Second roll? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( What for the attack roll? )

Monkey . o O ( Dex + Melee. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 9 dice on Attack! and got 7 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Shall I pose the landing then? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. Make a standard Dex + Ath roll. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 6 dice on Dex+ath and got 4 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( You're golden. You can land wherever you choose. )

Admiral Kaizoku tears his blade free of Pontoppidan's tentacle and kicks off as the beast slams down on its enemy. He tucks and rolls forward through the air, making a three point landing, his blade pointed at the deathknight archer the whole trip. "You have taken something that does not belong to you... the lives of this city! I intend to take them back in the name of the Sun!"

The Storyteller . o O ( Hrm. Let's see... Rose. )

The Rose spins her blade in an arc, batting the silver and jade away from her, and brings it into a ready position, aimed at Monkey's heart!

The Storyteller . o O ( Held action + color. Roll init. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Weapons now? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+14 and got 19.

On 1d10+8, you rolled 14.

Monkey . o O ( First, before my held action goes away, I use Joy in Adversity Stance, which is my one charm use. Now rolling init. )

Monkey rolled 1d10+8 and got 13.

Monkey . o O ( Activating Combo! Loading.... )

The Storyteller . o O ( okay. Order is: Rose, Kaizoku, Archer X, Monkey! )

Monkey . o O ( Rose is prevented from using multiple actions unless she uses an Extra Action charm or effect. )

As she descends toward Monkey, the Rose strikes a blow straight at his chest, black blade piercing his anima like a nail through an orange.

The Storyteller . o O ( Is that JIAS effect? )

Monkey . o O ( No, that's Distractingly Lewd Gesture. JIAS was last turn. )

Monkey . o O ( Btw, roll 1/2 her attack pool. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Ah. got it... does DLG take effect on your initiative or at the beginning of the turn in which you activate it? )

Monkey . o O ( The second. It's an init modifier thing like Thunderbolt Rush Attack. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Got it. Rolling. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, wait. half her attack pool before or after charms? )

This is why the Storyteller is looking forward to 2nd edition...

Monkey . o O ( After, I suppose. It's a charm. It gets calculated together with all the charms. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. NOW rolling. )

You rolled 12 dice on Black Blade of Doom! and got 5 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( defense? )

Monkey/Gorilla makes a lewd thrusting motion with his hips. Did Rose loose her cool? Or was it her intention all along to unleash the Black Blade of Doom? Who knows? As the sword descends, Monkey utters a earthshaking shriek and twists his body savagely to get out of the way. (dodge)

Monkey rolled 22 dice on FLB Dodge and got 15 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey would do very well in an X-rated Exalted chronicle. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( EXXXalted! )

Monkey . o O ( With illustrations by Phil Foglio! )

The Storyteller . o O ( ... that I would pay good money for. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Likewise. Must... buy... Foglio... art. )

Monkey . o O ( Well, David, do you thing. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Jesse, can you give me a quick rundown on what Archer X is looking like and doing? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Emitting! )

Monkey . o O ( That's a good way of spending 5 motes, that dodge. )

Monkey . o O ( Oh hey, JIAS! Woohoo! )

Monkey rolled 4 dice on something and got 3 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Booyah, it pays for itself. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( I'd love to try that move Hiei did in Yu Yu Hakusho when fighting Evil Kintaro. )

The Abyssal stands in the center of the swaying platform atop the beast, wrapped in bloody tendons that, like the strings of a marionette, he pulls to direct the thing's movements. The tendons reach down into the mass of flesh below.

Monkey . o O ( 1. You're too big to be Hiei. 2. Bishounen aside, Monkey != Kurama. )

Admiral Kaizoku holds his sword up in a straight-arm stance, stepping sideways cautiously. Then he leans forward and charges past, lashing out with his blade several times as he passes, turning and skidding to a halt afterwards, watching for the sneak attack he suspects.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( three actions, normal attack. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Stunt? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, 1-die stunt for Monkey's dodge. 1 die stunt for the Admiral. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 14 dice on something and got 9 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 13 dice on something and got 9 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 12 dice on something and got 4 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Woo! Should have used Hungry Tiger. )

The Storyteller . o O ( And the defense! )

You rolled 8 dice on defenses! and got 3 successes.

You rolled 8 dice on defenses! and got 4 successes.

You rolled 8 dice on defenses! and got 3 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Monkey is Kurama without the cool refinement intellecual plans too. I can't see him womanizing either. )

Monkey . o O ( <sigh> Monkey does not have uncomitted essence to refill. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Soak? )

Monkey . o O ( Summary. Monkey <> Kurama. )

As the Admiral's blade flashes toward the Abyssal, the beast acts to protect its master. Spikes of bone and flesh spring up to block the golden daiklave, but it smashes through them easily, losing but a little force.

The Storyteller . o O ( Soak is 8L )

Monkey . o O ( Oooo, neat. You should award yourself 1 die there. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 13 dice on something and got 10 hits.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 12 dice on something and got 3 hits.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on something and got 2 hits.

The Storyteller . o O ( You kill him. Pose it. )

Monkey . o O ( Dear world, it's been nice knowing you, too bad you're leaving soon. Don't deny it. David just rolled really well on damage, against a deathknight controlling a hekatonkhire. In other words, great roll on an important roll. You know that I know that this is a Sign of The End Time. Thus, so long. )

Admiral Kaizoku's radiant, glowing blade snaps the bone spikes like twigs as it cleaves through the archer, the first hit claiming his head and knocking it free of his neck and into the distance. The second shears off his arm and the third penetrates his chest, the holy power of the Sun burning his black heart into nothingness.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Or does he go down and have to be finished off? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Nah, he's dead. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( And we never knew his name! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sadly, he does not get to act. Monkey? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Must be big. )

Meanwhile, high above, another battle is revving up. Monkey continues his savage movement and with an effort of will, twists his body and kicks one of the jade bits that was just bouncing Rose's body and sword. The jade bit hurtles toward Rose, and Monkey uses the counter-momentum to reach and swat a coin at Rose. Thus repeated, he circles around Rose, attacking from all directions.

Monkey . o O ( If allowed, 6 actions using Poo Flinging Strike. )

Monkey . o O ( No, 5. Can't do 6. )

The Storyteller . o O ( 5, then. And a 3-die stunt. )

Monkey . o O ( Stunt, if any. Difficulty, if Rose has something weird. Penalties, if she activates a dice-eater charm.... etc. But anyway, she rolls 1/2 her active defense. )

The Storyteller . o O ( checking abyssal book. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, she's defending with Eye of the Tempest. No penalty to attack. Roll it. )

Monkey . o O ( Okie. )

Monkey rolled 13 dice on Jade bit and got 12 successes.

Monkey rolled 12 dice on Silver coin and got 3 successes.

Monkey rolled 11 dice on Glitterglass and got 5 successes.

Monkey rolled 10 dice on Copperpiece and got 3 successes.

Monkey rolled 9 dice on Cowrieshell and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( Done. )

The Storyteller . o O ( And defense. )

You rolled 7 dice on Parry! and got 4 successes.

You rolled 7 dice on Parry! and got 4 successes.

You rolled 7 dice on Parry! and got 3 successes.

You rolled 7 dice on Parry! and got 2 successes.

You rolled 7 dice on Parry! and got 5 successes.

Monkey . o O ( her soak is 8L? )

The Storyteller . o O ( yes. )

Monkey . o O ( Ooo, this is nasty. )

Monkey rolled 19 dice on Ouch and got 12 hits.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Oh, my! )

Monkey rolled 13 dice on Ouchier! and got 7 hits.

Monkey . o O ( I'll refrain from rolling he third hit. )

The Storyteller . o O ( she's dead. Pose it! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Now I'm REALLY scared! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( The Mask has no choice to but to attack now! )

There are distinct thuds out of all the tink-tinks sound that the bits and pieces make when they hit Rose's armor and sword. As Monkey hurtles past Rose, he watches Rose's surprised expression and the three little wounds he inflicted, trickling black blood from her forehead, right wrist, and heart. He salutes as he lands on the other hekatonkhire. The Perfect Rose of Thorn has fallen.

Monkey says, "Sorry it took a bit long, Admiral. I see that you're just done yourself. Now what?"

The Storyteller . o O ( posing. )

Admiral Kaizoku points over at the Mask. "We will see what mistake he makes next" he replies.

Monkey . o O ( If you're going to say, "Monkey, put on Ungoliant and attack Juggernaut while I direct Poppi", think again. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Ungoliant should shut down with no "brain" and so Poppi can be turned on Juggernaut. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Hmmm... this makes five MoW Deathknights we've killed, and one more maimed. )

Monkey . o O ( The maimed one got better. Necrosurgery is just so much more advanced that normal med-tech. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( True, but it was a Zenith blast, so it should at least leave a mark. )

Monkey . o O ( A fashionable scar among goth-y evil villains. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( As it had a bad source, it must be a bad scar for him... maybe a smiley face. )

Pontoppidan is tearing apart the now-inert monster that the archer commanded, but on Juggernaut's head you can see a sorcerous working beginning. It is clearly of great power, and you can feel the very essence of the world around you stir as the Deathlord chants the spell.

The Storyteller . o O ( What's your soak? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( 10L )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( and B. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Aggravated. )

Monkey . o O ( 2/4 + 10/12. I think. Blue robe. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( 8A )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( No stamina vs. aggro, right? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. No, there isn't. Saving that spell for later. )

The Storyteller . o O ( What do you do? )

Monkey . o O ( I don't remember what Blue Robe give me and it's not on my printed character sheet. Please double check, but IIRC it's 10L. )

Monkey . o O ( How many miles away? )

The Storyteller . o O ( One. )

Admiral Kaizoku says grimly "Jump us over there Monkey... whatever spell he's working we must stop. No matter the cost."

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Transform and roll out! )

Monkey says, "Aye aye!"

Monkey . o O ( In 4 turns, Monkey will cover the mile. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Ah. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Dang, he could cast anything in that time... )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yeah. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Ah! )

Monkey . o O ( I got two rule-lawyering points. One, if I win init, I get there first before the spell is completed. Two, Kaizoku got HGD, I got my HGDodge. )

Admiral Kaizoku points to a tentacle lashing at one of Ungoliant's legs and concentrates on it, making it rise up. "Leap on that!" he says, commanding "His" creature to snap it at the Juggernaut as fast as possible."

The Storyteller . o O ( Hm! Okay, roll Willpower to command. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on Command! and got 6 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( LANDING may be a problem... aim for the Mask. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Successful. Pose it. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Monkey's doing the jumping, so his pose! )

Monkey . o O ( You know Jesse, now you could brag on RPG.net that "Tonight my crew deliberately get themselves thrown by a mile-long hekatonkhire so they can get at Mask right away and distract him before he could finish his DoomSpell. )

Monkey . o O ( Pose the throwing, I'll pose the landing. )

The Storyteller . o O ( True! )

Admiral Kaizoku puts his left arm around Monkey's waist and leaps onto the ichor-stained tip of Pontoppidan's tentacle, careful to avoid the suckers. He concentrates and the decaying sea-beast pulls his tendril back and then snaps it forward towards the dark shape of Juggernaut. "NOW!" he yells to Monkey just as the appendage descends with full force.

"Hold on! This is gonna get a mite rough!" Monkey shouts at Kaizoku as the two of them were shot like a bullet from a sling. It was not a straightforward clear shot either. Several times Monkey/Gorilla had to skip on a particular tall building getting in the way. The effect is not unlike a stone skipping on a clear pool of water, leaving a wake of rubble after each skip.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Now we have the element of surprise! )

Monkey . o O ( Kinda. It's going to be hard missing a comet zooming at you though. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Sure, he'll see us coming, but he'll still be surprised! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey, roll Dex + Ath. )

Monkey lands on top of the fortress that is Juggernaut. He deposits his passenger and idly wonders where Still Moon is.

Monkey rolled 10 dice on Dex + Ath and got 9 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( You're about sixty yards from Juggernaut's head, on its neck. You can see the Mask of Winters, robed and casting, atop the head. Between you and him is a large band of nemissaries, heading toward you. )

Admiral Kaizoku releases Monkey and holds his blade up at the Mask. "The sun is rising to burn away your taint!" he calls out to the Mask as stormclouds of pure sunlight gather above his head, with stormy solar seas forming around him.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Activating Zenith Fear Banner. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. )

You rolled 4 dice on collective valor roll and got 4 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( My. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Fudge. )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, my "Irreverent Monkey Humbles The Tiger" combo effect is a tropical jungle scene. Verdant, lush, and rife with an army of monkeys. )

As the golden light of the sun washes over them, the nemissaries blanch, but stand firm nonetheless. Behind them, their dark master approaches the climax of the spell.

The Storyteller . o O ( He's on turn two of casting. His back is toward you. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey? )

"Bah", Monkey dismisses the honor guards. "Nothing worth my time. Come on, Mask of Winters. The best fighter in Creation and the best general in Creation visit you and this is your hospitality?"

Monkey . o O ( Sorry, I didn't think you were waiting for me. I thought this is Kaizoku's type of scene. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Well, I did an action in firing up the anima banner, so you had one. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Your action, though. Just the pose? )

Monkey . o O ( Ah hell. Why not. Blade of The Battle Maiden. There. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. )

Monkey . o O ( Now I have few motes, but man what a bucket of dice. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Final round of the spellcasting. Roll init, no weapons. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+7 and got 10.

On 1d10+10, you rolled 20.

Monkey rolled 1d10+16 and got 24.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey, Mask, Kaizoku, goons. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey? )

Monkey . o O ( So long, friends, world. )

With a practised ease Monkey jumps over the throng of nemissaries. Worthless distraction, why not go for the big guy right away? He lands behinds the Mask of Winters himself and gracefully encircles Mask's arms in a hold before twisting his back into a suplex, attempting to lift and smash Mask to the ground.

Monkey . o O ( Monkey Leap to get over the Storm Trooper. Two action. Clinch. Second one is held. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Roll it. )

Monkey . o O ( Spending WP for autosuccess. )

Monkey rolled 20 dice on Clinch and got 8 successes.

As Monkey reaches for the Deathlord, the ancient ghost's robes rise up to defend him, sprouting shadowy spikes and wrapping around Monkey's arms...

You rolled 20 dice on defense and got 11 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( And a counterattack... )

You rolled 20 dice on counterattack and got 10 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Defend vs counterattack? )

Monkey . o O ( Of course. FLB Dodge. If not enough, held action -> parry )

Monkey rolled 22 dice on something and got 17 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( posing )

The Mask's robes pass through thin air as Monkey aborts his attack and nimbly whips around their tendrils, circling the Mask as he does until he is just out of range -- and facing the Deathlord head on.

The Storyteller . o O ( Use held action now or later? )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, isn't Mask the guy with two faces? )

The Storyteller . o O ( yep. )

The Storyteller . o O ( but based on the orientation of his arms, you're in front of him. )

Monkey . o O ( Later. Just in case. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( My move? )

Monkey . o O ( Nope. Mask's. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Wish I'd bought Lightning Speed now... )

The Storyteller . o O ( No, the mask finishes his spell. Will pose in a moment. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Maybe all the Nemmisaries will be collateral damage from whatever it is. )

Monkey . o O ( Hey, JiAS. Rolling.... )

Monkey rolled 4 dice on something and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( I dare the nemissaries to attack me. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Dang, we should have grabbed Rose's sword, on the assumption that the Mask's tools can kill him. Of course, as a black blade, it wasn't shiny enough to catch Monkey's eye. )

The Mask incants the last word of the spell and the Essence gathered around him explodes in a silent burst of darkness. Yet no harm comes to you and the spell seems to have no effect -- until below, you feel a shuddering movement, and then another. Juggernaut begins to stand. The Mask says, "At last, he shall trample the cities of the Creation beneath his feet once more." The Deathlord's voice is surprisingly pleasant. "And now to deal with you two."

The Storyteller . o O ( Kaizoku, your turn. )

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Int + Occult and got 2 successes.

Monkey says, "Let me get this straight. You just freed him?"

The Mask inclines his head in a very slight nod. Perhaps.

Admiral Kaizoku knows he still has the advantage here... He charges forward through the mass of nemissaries, slashing left and right, his very flesh blazing with the power of the Sun, burning the ghost-shells and keeping them back.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Full free move of 16 yards with 4 attacks at the ones in the way. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sounds fair. Make it. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Stunt? )

The Storyteller . o O ( And -- for dramatic purposes -- 2-die stunt, you can reach the head with another move next turn. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 14 dice on Attack 1 and got 6 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 13 dice on Attack 2 and got 3 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 12 dice on Attack 3 and got 12 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 11 dice on Attack 4 and got 8 successes.

Monkey looks around and notes the darkness and the presence of stars. "Hmmm, it is night. Ah, I got it. You must have a cunning plan to tie him to this spot for some more hours, no?"

The Storyteller . o O ( Successful attacks for the admiral. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( No defenses? Base damage 15 aggro... soak? )

The Storyteller . o O ( extras. )

Admiral Kaizoku sweps through the staggered shells like a wildfire through grass, slashing dark bodies in twain, his eyes fixed ahead of him on the Mask.

The Storyteller . o O ( Roll init. )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 18.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+14 and got 24.

Monkey . o O ( Combo. )

Monkey rolled 1d10+8 and got 13.

The Storyteller . o O ( Kaizoku, Mask, Monkey. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Isn't that the combo with the "act first" charm? )

Monkey . o O ( No, that's the combo with target acts later charm. )

The Storyteller . o O ( What's the effect? )

Monkey . o O ( After the charm, both Mask and Monkey have init 13. )

Monkey . o O ( Given the higher modifier, I believe Mask goes first. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. So it's Kaizoku and Mask/Monkey. )

Admiral Kaizoku is as inorexible as the tides that are his anima banner. His blade rises and falls mechanically, cutting away at the Mask's feeble minions like a scythe at harvest time as he closes in on the vile Deathlord, power and purpose singing in his veins.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Same four attacks as before. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( And move. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Roll 'em. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Stunt? )

Monkey continues, "Because I'm thinking, hey, if Juggernaut leaves town now, he'll be trampling the cities of Underworld, which is A-Okay with me."

The Storyteller . o O ( 2 dice. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 14 dice on Attack 1 and got 10 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 13 dice on Attack 2 and got 4 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 12 dice on Attack 3 and got 4 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 11 dice on Attack 4 and got 8 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( And done. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey, what are you going to do? )

As Monkey speaks, the light given from his anima seems produce half-glimpses of simian shapes hiding amongst tree-branches and the far-away sounds of an Eastern jungle

Admiral Kaizoku slices four more Nemissiaries in twain, bringing him to the far edge of the crowd and beyond. He aims his blade at the Mask and says "You have ALREADY lost, Mask of Winters!"

Monkey . o O ( I'm talking like a civilized person. )

The Storyteller . o O ( That's a change. Waiting for his action? )

Monkey . o O ( Or his reply. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Posing. )

The Mask says, "Foolish Monkey. You cannot hope to fathom my plans. Or oppose them." Without warning, he strikes, a blow faster than the eye can follow aimed at Monkey's head.

The Storyteller . o O ( One attack. Lots of dice. Anything to modify it from Monkey's charms? )

Monkey . o O ( Nah. Just HGDodge it. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. I'll pose it. )

The very air cracks like thunder as the Mask's fist passes by Monkey's head with a hair's-breadth to spare. As swiftly as he struck, the Deathlord returns to his ready stance, limbs concealed within his robes.

Monkey rolled 4 dice on JiAS and got 1 success.

Monkey says, "Neat. Let me try it."

With a sudden movement, Monkey punches Mask in the face. Or at least attempt to. The air did not crack like thunder, but there's a whipping swoosh as Monkey throws all his strength into the punch.

Monkey . o O ( Half active defense. ) Monkey . o O ( Anything weird from Mask? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Nope, roll it. )

Monkey rolled 19 dice on Punch and got 10 successes.

You rolled 10 dice on defense and got 6 successes.

You rolled 10 dice on defense 2 and got 4 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( The Deathlord's robes wrap around Monkey's fist as he attacks -- but it is not enough. Swift as a shadow's breath, the Mask is forced to dodge aside from the blow. )

The Storyteller . o O ( And roll init again. Weapons count. )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 16.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 1d10+14 and got 18.

Monkey looks at his fist. "I think I almost got it. Need more practice though."

Monkey rolled 1d10+8 and got 11.

Monkey . o O ( Same thing, Combo. )

Monkey . o O ( And guess, same order. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yup. Kaizoku, then Mask/Monkey )

The Storyteller . o O ( But first, a pose. )

Juggernaut is now on his knees, and the Mask's fortifications are sliding off his back. Stone and steel crash into the muddy ground far below. Amid the thunder of falling masonry, you hear the behemoth groan. It is an awful sound that rises up from out of hearing into the deepest registers of the human ear, turning your bowels to water and calling to mind the ruin of all things.

The Storyteller . o O ( Roll Valor. )

Monkey rolled 5 dice on Valor and got 3 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 3 dice on something and got 3 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( You're both at -2 for the next turn's actions from the aftereffects of the groan. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Right. )

The Storyteller . o O ( kaizoku, what's your action? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Posing. Big. )

The Storyteller . o O ( got it. )

Admiral Kaizoku strides forward out of the mass of the Mask's dead servants, coat billowing out around him. The time has come for this to end. Remember what you were and perish with dignity. I will return you to the proper circle of life. he says. The Admiral holds his curved daiklave above his head in a two handed grip, the winds of the anima banner surrounding it, curling into a tornado that rises higher and higher to the sky, blowing away even the misama of the Shadowland to let the light of a thousand tiny suns shine down on the battle. SUPREME WHIRLWIND... he yells out, leaping high into the air. He brings his sword and the vortex around it behind his back and as he reaches the apex of his leap, brings it down at the head of the Mask, releasing the power to make the blade spin in a circle, cutting into the Deathlord over and over and over and over. BLADE!!! he finishes, unleashing his ultimate attack.

The Storyteller . o O ( 3-die stunt. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Four Peony Blossom attacks. Channeling Conviction. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( 1 mote of ES on the first three, 9 on the last. )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 21 dice on Whirlwind 1 and got 13 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 21 dice on Whirlwind 3 and got 17 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 29 dice on Whirlwind 3 and got 14 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey -- does the half defense penalty apply only to attacks you make? )

Monkey . o O ( Yes. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( That'd be too gross otherwise. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, good. )

Monkey . o O ( Otherwise it's too powerful a charm. Maybe a SMA level for such a charm. )

The Storyteller . o O ( did you remember the -2 dice? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Yep. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Posing. )

Monkey . o O ( Anyway, although Monkey and Kaizoku are scary, we both know that Mask can toy with them all night long and then swat them. )

With an incredibly nasty chorus of pops, cracks, and other noises, the Mask of Winters faces the Admiral as he attacks. His robes rise up in defense.

You rolled 20 dice on Robe parry and got 9 successes.

You rolled 20 dice on Robe parry and got 13 successes.

You rolled 20 dice on Robe parry and got 12 successes.

You rolled 20 dice on Robe parry and got 8 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( I've got a plan for that. )

Despite his undead prowess, the Mask's enchanted robes only stop one blow, and he is forced to give way before the onslaught...

Monkey . o O ( Good. Better Kaizoku say that than Monkey say that. )

You rolled 20 dice on Mask dodge and got 12 successes.

You rolled 20 dice on Mask dodge and got 8 successes.

You rolled 20 dice on Mask dodge and got 9 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Roll Socialize + Awareness. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( With penalty? )

The Storyteller . o O ( yep. )

Monkey rolled 4 dice on -2 penalty and got 2 successes.

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 2 dice on Awareness and got 1 botch.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Dang. )

Monkey . o O ( Did you add your stunt dice? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( must have been important. )

Monkey . o O ( and your Conviction? )

Monkey . o O ( Actually, Conv might not apply. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Yep. Would have been 23 if not for the penalty. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( He's convinced it's time to kill the Mask! )

Monkey . o O ( No, I mean, for Soc+Awa, add stunt, because stunt applies to everything. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Really? )

Admiral Kaizoku rolled 3 dice on Stunt and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Yay! )

It's almost impossible to tell with the Mask's mask, but his body language suddenly betrays some kind of unease. Fear? Impatience? Irritability? Whatever it is, his composure has cracked a little.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey's go. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( On iTunes now, the Super Sentai Spirits themesong putting 25 years of finishing attacks to song. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( I wish we had a Howling Cannon. Or three rugby balls that combine into a spiked mine of death. )

From behind Mask, if there's such a thing, Monkey practices the Thunder Fist he just learned from watching Mask of Winters.

Monkey . o O ( Oh, say, three attacks. )

The Storyteller . o O ( say wha? )

Monkey . o O ( Thunder Fist. Punch so fast you crack the air. )

Monkey rolled 17 dice on Left and got 7 successes.

Monkey rolled 16 dice on Right and got 7 successes.

Monkey rolled 15 dice on Right and got 10 successes.

Monkey . o O ( The usual 1/2 defense yadda yadda. )

You rolled 10 dice on Mask dodge and got 5 successes.

You rolled 10 dice on Mask dodge and got 5 successes.

You rolled 10 dice on Mask dodge and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( One hits! )

Monkey . o O ( Yay! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Go ahead and pose it. Soak is 20L )

Monkey rolled 4 dice on Ping and got 3 hits.

On the third punch, Monkey's punches faster than the air can give way, making a thunder. Monkey holds a surprised expression as his fist ends at Mask's... mask. Behind his mask, the deathlord is silent...

Monkey says, "Wait a minute! You can't be Mask of Winters!"

A hairline crack appears in the mask, stretching from left eye to edge.

Monkey . o O ( He's Farmer John with a rubber mask! I'll prove it! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Darn kids! )

The Storyteller . o O ( His pose. )

Monkey . o O ( Come to think about it, Monkey's like Shaggy and Scooby combined! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( OK, if Suda is Velma and the Admiral is Freddy, who's Daphne? )

Monkey . o O ( And given Monkey's looks, maybe even Daphne. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( NOOOO! )

The Mask is still as stone for a moment. Then he speaks. "A doom upon you, Monkey. And your master. When we meet again, you will not fare so well." He raises his hand and snaps his fingers, and suddenly he is gone. Yet his shadow remains upon the stone platform, and it begins to creep outward, tendrils reaching across the surface of Juggernaut toward the two Solars. And Juggernaut stands full tall, and steps forward, shaking the earth under his tread.

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Tsuzuku. )

The Storyteller . o O ( ? )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( To Be Continued in Japanese. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sounds good. Same time next week, for the thrilling conclusion! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( Jesse, would you like to play in a Mekton Starblade Battalion game after this is through? Run by me? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Maybe. It depends on the schedule, really. )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( That's wide open now. )

Monkey . o O ( Next Week, on Exalted: Pirate & Monkey: Mask of Winters retreated, but can the heroes survive Mask's parting shot and Juggernaut rampage? A past sacrifice and a future prophecy clashes into being. Burst through the ruins of the age, Solars! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Well, I've got to get to bed. I'll see you guys next week! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( LOL! )

Admiral Kaizoku . o O ( See you! Great game as always! )

Monkey . o O ( moi aussi. )
