You say, "Anyway, game stuff... we started on the bridge of the crashed skyship, with you guys watching a fang of DBs and a fang of gunzosha entering the hulk via a just-opened hatch. Also, Monkey is in "heroic mortal" mode. Looking over the session log, I see that I wasn't as prompt as I should have been on tossing out the 1-die stunts, so I'm going to arbitrarily award 10 motes of Essence to each of you to represent the stunting you did do."

You say, "And I'm going to get my coffee on. What do you do now?"

Monkey . o O ( Obviously, check out the engine room. )

Monkey . o O ( Oh, Monkey's caste mark is still glowing bright, if it matters. )

The Storyteller . o O ( It'll save wear and tear on the flashlight batteries, anyway. )

Captain Kaizoku starts barking out orders to the gunzosha. "Go to the bridge and secure it... guard the control column VERY carefully and stay alert. There may be a steathy Deathknight lurking inside. Send a runner back and fetch a preist and a mage. This ship has a Shadowland inside and the area around it will need to be warded against the dead!"

Monkey . o O ( One wonders if a Solar gets early wrinkles on their forehead from all the UV damage.... )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Mr. Monkey, you're with me. We're going to secure the engine room... watch your back, and mine..."

Monkey says, "Aye, Captain!"

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( No, they're just carriers. :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( So you're heading down the stairs? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I hate those kinds of questions. Yes, carefully, watching out for boobytraps and making sure to look at the ceiling too. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sorry, just need to know what needs to be narrated. Remember, you came up the stairs originally... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( That Deathknight is probably in the engine room now, having just cut the power. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Right then, gave the orders to the Guns and then headed back in. )

Monkey . o O ( Darn, where's our rogue when we need someone with a good Search and Spot and a loaded d20? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Besides, I have a habit of making Awareness rolls (or Spot checks, or whatever) for players... I assume that even if Joey Oblivious ain't keeping an eye out for traps, his character Mac McSneaky sure as hell is. )

The Storyteller . o O ( After all, it's Mac's ass in a sling if the trap goes off. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The captain was planning to set up traps and ambushes inside the ship if things went differently, so they're on his mind. )

The two Solars climb down the stairs quickly but cautiously, keeping an eye out for undead booby traps or attackers. Passing the deckhouse level, they find that the stairs end below, in a shadowed hallway with strange cables of jade and leather running along the ceiling and hatches at intermittent intervals along the walls. Further down the hall, they can see a dim red glow filling it and diffusing in the haze of smoke that's crawling toward them.

The Storyteller . o O ( It's got a hellish industrial look, if you know what I'm saying. )

Monkey . o O ( Grumble grumble H. Geiger grumble. )

Monkey . o O ( If there are egg-like pods on the ground, I say we nuke them from orbit. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( It's the only way to be sure. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Sort of, but smoother -- Like if Nostromo were built by somebody with taste and a bigger budget. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Heh. Somebody on rpg.net was posting about how the GM gave his character 50 bazooka-type missiles... w/100 MT nukes for warheads. Wanted to find out just how much boom that was. )

Captain Kaizoku has his daiklave before him as he leads the way, his aura glowing from the earlier battle, casting shadows along the hallway. He narrows his eyes at the glow, but moves forward carefully regardless, stopping once to examine the strange cables of jade, noting where they lead, hoping to determine what they power.

Monkey . o O ( 100MT? Just the boom? GURPS can handle that. Secondary and tertiary effects, that's another matter. )

Monkey . o O ( I shall refrain from picking up Vehicles and actually figuring out the blast radius though. )

The corridor is lit by (aside from Solar auras) pale flickering flames from soulsteel wicks. The flames are cool to the touch, should you do so, and make a sound like a hissing cat. The cables protrude from the walls seemingly at random, but as you walk down the hallway, you see that they're forming sort of a trunk line that grows thicker the closer you get to the red glow.

The Storyteller . o O ( Make an Int + Lore + Past Lives roll for a clue on the cables. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on Knowledge and got 4 successes.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Why not? and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Definitely power cables. At least, the jade ones are. You're not sure what the leather ones are. In any case, there doesn't seem to be any power running through them right now. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Do skyships usually have cables in the open like this? Could it be powering something besides the main systems, ie the Shadowland? )

Monkey . o O ( OMG, they're harnessing the alien queen's life-force! We're doomed! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes, and yes, in that order. And no. At least, not as far as you know. )

Captain Kaizoku makes his best attempt to be steathy as the pair comes up upon the red glow, motioning Monkey to do the same.

The Storyteller . o O ( roll Dex + Stealth, then. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 4 dice on No Stealth and got 2 successes.

Monkey rolled 5 dice on Dex + Ste - wound and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( There's a doorway where the glow is, right? )

Monkey . o O ( bathroom break. Back in a few minutes. )

It's difficult to be stealthy on this decking -- soulsteel and the black wood seem to make far too much noise under your feet. As you approach the red glow, you see that it's coming from a large open area. The corridor opens directly into this area, and continues as a catwalk. No guardrails, of course. Looking out into the area, you see that it's about two levels high, and you're on the second level.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Is the Hearthstone engine visible from the catwalk area? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Getting to it. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( OK. )

Monkey . o O ( back )

Monkey . o O ( How far down? )

The room is circular, about forty feet in diameter. In the center, and reaching up to the ceiling, is a wide cylinder of soulsteel. Odd sockets, each about the size of a human fist, stud it up to about ten feet high, while above them, jade and leather cables run up to the ceiling and branch out, heading in all directions. In some of the sockets, you see soulsteel and glass containers, filled with gray stuff. They range from almost full to almost empty.

The Storyteller . o O ( BRB, wife just got home. )

Captain Kaizoku says to Monkey in a low voice, carefull that it doesn't carry "This is not normal for a skyship, not in the least. Be wary about touching anything."

Monkey . o O ( Liquefied soul, you think? )

Monkey nods slightly.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Would souls be grey? Maybe brains... )

Monkey . o O ( Well, forged (solidified) soul is black. Why not grey for the liquid form? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Good point. I was thinking of them as all glowy. )

Monkey . o O ( Well, it's not being powered by hamsters on wheels, although that would be very cool for a D&D game featuring a gnomish skyship. )

Monkey . o O ( Complete non-sequitur. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Regular hamsters, or giant mutant ones? :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( back )

Monkey . o O ( Actually, some of the D&D-ers we know (including me), has had this idea of a techomagical gnomish empire, with electric death-rays, enormous flying castles (with giant propellers), and backpack mounted lightning caster, and a funny-moustached Baron Von Gnomich. All these are powered by electricty harnessed from shocker lizards. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( It'd drive the traditionalists nuts, which is a point in its favor. And WB Jesse. )

Monkey . o O ( "Engine room! We need more power! Rattle amd prod those cages! )

Monkey . o O ( What's the distance to ground level? )

Down on the lower level, about ten feet, three Dragon-blooded are making quick work of a trio of nemissaries and some zombie slaves. As you watch, the Earth-aspect throws a nemissary into a rack of cylinders, scattering the strange artifacts across the deck. The other two, both Fire-aspect, team up on a nemissary and chop him to pieces. As the combat swirls around the engine column, you can make out two Hearthstone sockets -- empty -- on either side of the column. They're on little pedestals, about three feet high, with jade cables running to the engine. There are doors on the lower level leading fore and aft, under the catwalk. It's a good guess that there's another corridor running along the length of the ship on that level.

The Storyteller . o O ( You can jump into combat if you like, but they're handling it easily. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( These are Legion Dragon-blooded fighting? )

Monkey . o O ( Oh, I'll leave the extras to the extras. I'm trying to figure whether it's feasible to just jump down and skip the whole catwalk circle. )

Monkey says, "Captain, I'll go look first, shall I?"

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The captain has some rope on him in any case. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes, three of the ones you saw heading in. As to the catwalk circle -- it's more like a catwalk that goes straight across the O of the room, with a little o in the middle to accomodate the engine column. )

Monkey swings down from level to level by letting himself fall and catching the edge of the next level as he falls by to slow down.

Captain Kaizoku uncoils the rope and hands it to Monkey, keeping one eye on the fighting, ready to unleash his Solar aura if need be. "Be cautious..." he trails off as Monkey goes into action. He carefully walks out on the catwalk to examine the cylender.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey's on the engine level, the fight swirling around him and wrapping up. )

Monkey . o O ( It's like Final Fantasy X, except without the cute girls. Hey, any treasure chests? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I could really use a bunch of Ether potions. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Haha, very funny. )

Upon close inspection, the column is... rather unnerving. Under the light of Captain Kaizoku's anima, he can see that the jade cables are in fact laced and interwoven with soulsteel. However, the entire contraption appears to be inert at the moment.

The Storyteller . o O ( You can make a Lore check to figure out what it does, but it's pretty high difficulty -- 5. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Lore and Int? )

Monkey ignores the Dragon-blooded vs. undead sideshow and looks around, trying to figure out (without much hope of success) how the engine column works.

The Storyteller . o O ( Yup. Add First age thingy. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on Lore ponderings and got 4 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Dang, so close! )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, if I spend a WP,.I have 1/100 chance of getting 5 successes. )

The Storyteller . o O ( The best you can come up with is that this is clearly a power source -- or perhaps some sort of power modulator -- and knowing the Deathlords, it's probably quite unpleasant in operation. )

Monkey . o O ( Ah heck. Spending a WP for auto-success. )

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Int + Lore - wound and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( Nope, didn't work. )

The Storyteller . o O ( c'est la vie )

Captain Kaizoku frowns as his imagination fills in the details of what a Deathlord power source could do and looks around for any sort of control panel, or the main trunk of the power line he followed in.

Monkey . o O ( Speaking of la vie, France's unveiling La Vie en Pink, the world's first cable channel targeted specifically at gays. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Thuper! )

The Storyteller is being ironic. At least, it's a half-hearted attempt at it.

Monkey . o O ( Don't worry, once there's enough time, between CK and the sorcerer-engineers, you should be able to figure the engine out. )

The Storyteller . o O ( The trunk line goes straight into the column above you. There are no visible control panels, at least, not on this level. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( There won't be enough time, and it's doubtless too evil to use. The question is: Why did the captain abandon ship so quickly? )

Monkey . o O ( Is that question in character or out of character? )

Captain Kaizoku wants to avoid aggrivating his wound and looks for a stairway or pole to access the lower level.

The Storyteller . o O ( There's a ladder. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Both, but the Captain hasn't voiced his concerns aloud yet. )

Captain Kaizoku holds his sword in his teeth as he descends, careful to keep Monkey and the troops in sight as he searches for a control panel. "If anything strange happens, cut that line!" he says when he reaches the ground, pointing up to it.

Monkey says loudly to Captain Kaizoku, "Captain, nothing down here. What do you want me to do?"

Captain Kaizoku replies "The ship didn't stop flying by itself. Someone must have turned things off here, likely the captain after flying out the window... and he may still be here. Stay alert."

The fight ends quickly as Monkey casually avoids poorly aimed blows and the Captain studies the Abyssal technology. The Dragon-blooded clean their weapons, and one of the Fire-aspected looks at the captain and says, "We've met little resistance, sir. Sato and Arai went toward the bow, and we have the gunzosha covering the exit route."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( These undead are geared in the same foreign way that the ones the bridge were, right? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. You're beginning to suspect that they don't belong to the Mask, per se. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Do either of you recognize that style of weapon or armor? This is not what the Mask's corpses use."

Monkey says, "Captain, if you're still worried about him, I suggest wrecking the ship. If he's around, and he wants the ship back, then he'll show up. If he's not, well, he's still out of a skyship."

The Storyteller . o O ( Three DBs. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Whoops, make that "Any of you..." then. )

The Seventh Legion officers shake their heads no.

The Storyteller . o O ( I really need to go through my image files and add keywords or something. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Very good Monkey... you are thinking with some strategy. That is what we will be doing."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Any sign of a control panel yet? )

Monkey grins.

Captain Kaizoku says, "Pick up one of those pikes Monkey. I want to know who this ship belongs to."

Monkey picks up a pike, wondering how one can tell who owns a ship from a pike.

A cursory glance over the now-cluttered engine room reveals only one possible control panel -- an almost sculptural display on the aft wall, constructed of bones and soulsteel. In form, it appears to be a three-dimensional spiral about two feet in height, with many small baubles and glass spheres dangling from the bones that compose its struts.

Captain Kaizoku strides over to inspect the controls, looking first for anything missing, like a key or Hearthstone.

Nothing appears to be missing, but it's hard to tell. The sculpture, in fact, is only a control panel by process of elimination -- nothing else in the room looks like controls, it seems unlikely that the builder of the ship would put a wholly aesthetic item in the engine room, and it has a certain vague similarity to some of the controls on the bridge.

Monkey looks around with an expression of distaste.

Captain Kaizoku waves the troopers over. "This is the control panel... guard it until relieved" he instructs. "Monkey, with me." The Captain climbs the ladder again, looking for a good place to cut the power cable, first, carfully touching it with his blade.

The cable is inert, not reacting to the captain's daiklave. Looking along the nearby sections, it seems like the best spot would be just after a split -- the cable is not too thick, but it is still anchored so that it won't flap around if it is not as inert as it looks.

The Storyteller . o O ( btw, any suggestions for a yozi cult? I'd like to drop one into my other game, but am running thin on ideas. )

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Steal from Call of Chtulhu.

Captain Kaizoku scowls as he swings his shining blade towards the cable, not liking anything about this ship, or the implications of its technology.

The Storyteller . o O ( Make a standard attack roll -- you can't botch it -- and then roll damage. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 14 dice on Strike and got 3 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Ewww. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 12 dice on something and got 8 hits.

TonyC whispers, "Standard rule is that against inanimate objects, you get full damage."

Apollonian [to TonyC]: Thanks -- I didn't know that.

The cable is pretty tough, and though you nick it, it look like it'll take a few more blows to cut through it. (It's about two inches thick.)

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Yozi parallels Lovecraftian Mythos nicely.

Captain Kaizoku goes to work with grim determination on his face, planning to take a section a yard long with him to avoid an easy patch.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 14 dice on Strike and got 13 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Jeeze! )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The best roll ever, and it's on a cable... )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 22 dice on something and got 5 hits.

Monkey . o O ( An _Evil_ cable. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And then 22 dice and just five successes for damage. )

Apollonian [to TonyC]: Yeah. The problem isn't so much the nature of the cult as to balancing its survival -- against a secret-police themed Night caste -- and it being _too_ tough. I may have to read up on terrorist and insurgent cell structure.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Immortality and mystic power would be popular among the bored rich and noble. That could buy some protection. )

The Storyteller . o O ( As Tony reminded me, inanimate objects take full damage. So... you've just chopped through the cable. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Hmmm... good point. Hadn't thought about that. )

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Terrorist and cells? Too realistic. Go for Evil Mastermind ala James Bond villains.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( We'll say that it was two slices then. )

Captain Kaizoku hands the yard long length of cable to Monkey. "Hold this... it won't be easy to start this ship without it. Now, to the captain's quarters" he says, heading back out the way he arrived.

Monkey . o O ( Sooo, does the cable starts spurting blood? )

Apollonian [to TonyC]: Too easy. Specifically, since this Night caste has four Solar buddies, none of whom are _at all_ subtle, too easy to have them cack the mastermind the minute they learn about him... And the campaign location doesn't really allow for social invulnerability for a mastermind. Though... Hmmm... maybe I can work the cult into the local religious structure under false pretenses. That's another character's powerbase. Heheheh.

The Storyteller . o O ( No, the cable starts oozing ichor. Ew. )

Monkey shrugs and loops the cable portion into a coil before tucking it into his belt.

Captain Kaizoku says as he heads down the corridor "I do not like this Monkey. A ship like this is a prize beyond price, yet the captain was too quick to abandon ship. I doubt it was our prowess alone that spooked her."

The Storyteller . o O ( Heading back toward the bridge? And are you heading back on the upper or lower level? )

Monkey . o O ( I assume the cable doesn't actually ooze. Because if it is, it would mess up Monkey's clothing. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Nah, the end still attached to the engine oozes. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The Captain's quarters would likely be by the bridge, right? The captain will presume that, and take the level that has the guns on it. )

Monkey says, "It was a her? I thought it was a him."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( That was a flub. I don't know why I have an impression he was a she. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Could have been either -- no obvious gender characteristics and the voice was muffled and indeterminate. )

Monkey says, "But anyway, Captain, I don't see anything else other than us that could've spooked him."

Monkey says, "So it must be our prowess after all."

Monkey . o O ( Monkey style deduction! )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Unless this is part of their plan... This place has a Shadowland inside of it, and it is now behind the enemy lines."

Monkey says, "If that's so, Captain, what are we going to do about it?"

The Storyteller . o O ( If I can interject -- are you walking as you talk, and if so, are you retracing your steps? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yes, and yes. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Nothing interesting happens on the way back -- oh, wait, do you check any of the hatches in the corridor? )

Captain Kaizoku counters with "The ship will not be moving for the moment, so any plan involving a suprise attack is out. It will soon be warded, so no demons will escape. What else would you do Monkey?"

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Are any marked? )

The Storyteller . o O ( No, none are marked. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Then not yet. )

Monkey says, "Hmmmm... if I have a backdoor to an enemy fortress, but the backdoor is locked... I'd get lots of men behind me, and then smash the lock, or even the door and let the men loose."

Monkey says, "Can you smash a warding that Lookshy put up, Captain?"

Monkey . o O ( How big is this skyship? )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Easily, since I am not what has been warded against. A shadowland inside the wards would not be affected by the wards on the outside though, which is why I ordered wards around this ship."

The Storyteller . o O ( Cap, make an Int + Lore tactics roll. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 6 dice on Lore+Tactics and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( And another on Int + Occult )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 6 dice on Int + Occult and got 3 successes.

Monkey says, "You might want to tell them to add a ward against deathknights too, because the one they have right now doesn't work against that assassin. And if the you can easily destroy a ward that isn't keyed to you, then another deathknight might be able to do the same with the current ward."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( CAN you ward against Deathknights and other Exalted? What does that fall under? )

The Storyteller . o O ( You know a couple things about the situation: One, the Lookshy wards are constructed with Emerald Circle sorcery, so Emerald Countermagic will dispel them. Two, the wards are layered, so it would take several castings to completely dismantle a ward. Three, while a force could march from the Underworld into Celeren through the ship's shadowland, they'd have to get through Celeren's wards as well, since those wards were designed to prevent such intrusion. Therefore, if they deliberately sacrificed the ship, any threat is probably already on board. And I'll be right back -- gotta refresh my coffee. )

Monkey . o O ( Technically, you can ward against anything. All the way up to the primordials, though high-essence beings will probably laugh at your pathetic attempt. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "That is one thing that stands out here... Deathknights are as rare as Solars, at least... and this ship's captain does not seem to work for the Mask of Winters, but with him... and I doubt that other Deathlord would be willing to sacrfice a ship for an ally after doing so little up to now. All this ship has done is engage Lookshy's Sky Guard. It could have levelled the city with its guns by now if it chose."

Monkey says, "Or it could be that they have lots of ships like these, and losing one is just like losing a jade bit for them. Of course, personally I'd turn it into a fireship first."

Monkey . o O ( I've always been meaning to ask. Is there canonically a way to destroy soulsteel and free the trapped souls? )

Captain Kaizoku says, "That does not seem overly likely. Ships of this size and power were not easily produced even in the First Age Monkey. Someone with the ability to produce them like muffins would have made themselves felt by now."

Monkey thinks, "Mmmm, muffin. I like muffins."

The Storyteller . o O ( Canonically, there's no way to free the trapped souls. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Stay focused Monkey. The threat may still be lurking on this ship though... perhaps the captain's quarters will yeild a clue."

Monkey thinks, "I'm getting hungry."

You're now in the deckhouse, on the lower level. There appears to have been no change in the last fifteen minutes. What do you do?

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Check the corridors off the deckhouse for quarters. )

Monkey . o O ( Search for the Captain's cabin, if there's one. )

TonyC has reconnected.

The Storyteller . o O ( Lessee... Lower deckhouse was a large clear area with four doors leading off of it, two on either side of the stairs. Numbering them from port to starboard 1 through 4, which do you check first? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Start with #1 )

Monkey . o O ( Do you actually have a map of this? )

Behind the port-most door, you find what must be the chart room. A large table dominates the center of the room, and rolled-up maps, charts, and navigational instruments are scattered in disarray throughout the room, probably as a result of the landing. A cursory look-over shows most annotation in Old Realm characters, though there are some notes in Threshold-style characters.

The Storyteller . o O ( Yeah, though it's mostly a scribble. )

Captain Kaizoku takes a moment to look over the charts, seeing if there are any clues as to the home port of this vessel from the latitude and longitude zero points.

Monkey . o O ( Monkey isn't familiar with either Riverspeak or Old Realm. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( It's time for Monkey to go to language school then! :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( Latitude and Longitude? That's funny. There are several markings that indicate bases, but they vary from chart to chart. Either the bases move, you're reading the charts wrong, or they're encrypted in some fashion. )

Captain Kaizoku thinks the first and third possibilies are most likely and stuffs the maps into a jacket pocket before pointing to door #4 across the way and creeping up on it.

The Storyteller . o O ( There's a _lot_ of maps -- over a hundred, some of which are quite large. Pick, say, five, by making a Wits + Lore roll to pick out the most valuable ones. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on Wits+Lore Map picking and got 5 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Whoops, that should have been seven, not 8. )

Monkey . o O ( Being a flat-land, Creation probably uses a polar notation. You start at the Earth pole, and draw circles indicating distances from the Earth pole (center). An exact point would be then described as... degree from the nearest cardinal points (the other elemental poles) and distance from center? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Nice. Okay, you grab the five that seem to have the most valuable information, and head out the door. )

Monkey . o O ( Of course, that has nothing to do with the game, so, moving on..... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Ah, I didn't know the technical term for that. )

The Storyteller . o O ( I think Savage Seas has something on this. Polar notation is what I've been assuming, since compasses (or their equivalents) point toward the Pole of Earth anyway. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Actually, Polar Notation is probably what the first age used. Now they have set routes that are marked out on rutters and use landmarks... )

The Storyteller . o O ( Anyway... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And different nations have different important landmarks, which would lead to being able to figure origin from landmarks on maps. But yes, anyway! )

The starboard-most door is locked. Do you bash it down, try to pick the lock, or pass over it?

Captain Kaizoku nods to Monkey and makes a lock-picking gesture by wiggling his finger at the lock.

The Storyteller . o O ( Dex + Larceny )

Monkey rolls up his sleeves, wait, he doesn't have sleeves. Ah well, he just goes straight to work then.

Monkey rolled 6 dice on Dex + Lar - wound and got 2 successes.

After a bit of work, Monkey pops the lock, though not as carefully as he'd have liked -- the lock is now ruined. The door opens to reveal a sorcerous lab, with a summoning circle of some sort etched onto the deck and surrounded by paraphernalia.

Captain Kaizoku sizes the lab up to see if anything is magically active, first of all, then looks for a diary or notebook.

Monkey says, "After you, Captain."

The Storyteller . o O ( Make a Per + Occult roll )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on Per+Occ and got 4 successes.

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Per and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( There's a charged feeling to the air, but nothing appears to be magically active at the moment. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Appropos of nothing, I'd like to try and demount and take some of the weapons on the skyship and put them to a better use. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, but it'll be a major bit of work. You'll need to get some skilled help, i.e., sorcerer-technicians. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And any visible and oft-used notbooks. )

The Storyteller . o O ( No visible texts in the room, more's the pity. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I'm sure a few could help out, considering the favor of bringing this down, and the fact they get the rest of it. )

Captain Kaizoku scratches his blade across the summoning circle and says "The next room on this side" to Monkey. (Room #3).

Monkey opens the door for Captain Kaizoku.

The Storyteller . o O ( Marring the circle would take a bit more work than that -- it's etched into soulsteel. But anyway, the next door opens onto a cabin, richly appointed in a funerary motif. )

Captain Kaizoku brings up his blade to a guard position as he works his way in, keeping a wall at his back at all times, looking for a desk among the furnishings of burial.

The cabin is arranged so: Against the far wall is a narrow bed, above which is a broad window, partly open. A table with a small, closed basket on it is against the forward wall, and a couch is against the aft wall. A chest is shoved under the bed, and boasts a large and sturdy-looking lock. Opening the basket reveals a small selection of good food -- cheese and sausage and dried meat.

Monkey says, "Oooo."

Monkey will try the food.

Monkey tries the food.

Captain Kaizoku says, "Monkey, open the chest. And don't touch that food!"

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Temperance and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Try or not try? )

Monkey puts down the food. "Why not?"

Captain Kaizoku explains "Deathknights are not dead, but not far from it. They dine on blood and poison... so do you think that is healthy food?"

Monkey . o O ( I think Captain Kaizoku is prejudiced. :) )

Monkey mumbles something, unconvinced, but leaves the food alone.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( No, he treats all Deathknights the same. :) )

Captain Kaizoku toes the chest and clears his thrat as he lifts up the matress with his Daiklave.

The bed is bare beneath the mattress. Who's inspecting the chest?

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Monkey, unless the food made him forget about the direct order. :) )

Monkey . o O ( Pshaw. )

Monkey opens the chest and rummages around the inside.

The Storyteller . o O ( Unsurprisingly, the chest is locked. )

Monkey shakes his head for the extra trouble, gets some tools from his pouch, and starts picking the lock.

The Storyteller . o O ( Dex + Larceny )

Monkey rolled 6 dice on Dex + Lar - wound and got 2 successes.

Captain Kaizoku covers Monkey's back as the lock is picked.

The Storyteller . o O ( Hey, you could do a pretty good approximation of Neon Genesis Evangelion with a DB Warstrider game and Yozis, couldn't you? )

Monkey . o O ( No, you can't. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Why not? Wrongbadfun? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Unless there's a lot more inside the Warstriders than just gears and levers... maybe if they were Yozis with armor. )

Monkey . o O ( Several things. One: wrongbadfun. Two: NGE characters, if you actually do a faithful rendition of them, is too mentally messed up to be playable. Three: AT-Field are perfects. DB doesn't get perfects. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Anyhow, the lock is picked and Monkey spends 2 motes and gets a Reflex Sidestep Technique dodge as a small burst of poison needles shoots out of the lid of the chest. )

Monkey rolled 6 dice on Reflex Dodge and got 3 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Sorry, was checking up RSST. )

The Storyteller . o O ( That's successful. The five needles break harmlessly against the bulkhead wall. Inside the chest are clothes, some jewelry, a book filled with indecipherable writing, and a pouch of something soft -- feels like sound. The pouch is black, tied with a white silk cord, and try as he might, Monkey can't untie the knot. )

Monkey . o O ( But anyway, the real reason you can't emulate Eva with DB Warstriders is simple. You can't emulate Evangelion as an RPG. The series rely a lot on author fiat. To do EVA as an RPG will require a lot of scripting. From there, it will take just a small push, and it will happen, to get the players to scream "Railroading." )

The Storyteller . o O ( True dat. )

Captain Kaizoku leans over Monkey, eyeing the shattered needles warily for a moment and then says "Let me see the book" to Monkey, followed by "Is the knot that complex?"

The Storyteller . o O ( Though... Heh. Solars = Angels. )

Monkey eyes the knot.

Monkey . o O ( Per/Int + Lore/Occult? )

The Storyteller . o O ( The knot doesn't want to stay still under your eyes, and shifts like a nest of snakes -- at least, that's what it seems like. Per + Occult. )

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Per+Occult and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Well, you're pretty sure it's a magical knot. )

Monkey says, "Ensorcelled, Captain. I can probably cut it, but you might want to look at it first."

Captain Kaizoku takes the bundle. "Then you probably don't want to cut it Monkey" he says, examining it with his mystic perceptions.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 6 dice on Per+Occult and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( Interesting idea, that. Rewriting EVA in Exalted as a Solar vs. DB with artifacts. )

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 4 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 9 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 7 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 9 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 6 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 7 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( With weird first age artifacts no one understands that well. )

You rolled 13 dice on mystery meat and got 8 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Don't like the looks of this. )

Monkey says, ""

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 1 success.

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 1 success.

Monkey says, "Shall I just take everything, Captain?"

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 1 botch.

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 3 successes.

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 2 successes.

You rolled 2 dice on something and got 1 success.

Captain Kaizoku says, "Yes Monkey, we can deal with the secrets later."

The Storyteller . o O ( You can't tell anything about the knot and pouch, save that it is magical and it is sorcery, not necromancy or thaumaturgy. )

The Storyteller . o O ( brb -- coffee. )

Monkey says, "Last door, Captain?"

Monkey . o O ( One wonders, where is the lavatory? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The dead don't need one. )

Monkey . o O ( Ah, but the deathknight isn't quite dead yet. :) )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( ANd Deathknights get resonance for acting human, so... )

Monkey . o O ( So they just hold it in? No wonder they're so cranky. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( They don't eat either, do they? )

Monkey . o O ( I mean, if I'm constipated 24/7, I'd want to destroy the world too. )

Monkey . o O ( They do eat, IIRC. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( They knew the job had drawbacks when they took it. They do? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I thought it was just blood and life essence they could draw power from. )

Monkey . o O ( I think so. Deathknights are quite alive. Let me look at the main book. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Back )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Says "A half state of life and death..." )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( WB! )

The Storyteller . o O ( Now what? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The last room. )

Monkey . o O ( I see that too. Still, it doesn't say that they can't digest normal food. Just that they prefer unusual food. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Last room, then. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Then that was likely not normal food in the basket. )

Monkey . o O ( Probably not, but it looks like good meat and cheese to Monkey. :) )

The port-side door nearest the stair is unlocked, and inside is another cabin. It is similar to the first, but instead of couch and table there is a desk and a large, locked cabinet or wardrobe. The desk is barren, save for a half-finished letter and a brush. Ink has spill over most of the letter from a bowl, now on the floor, and only a few words are legible.

Captain Kaizoku says "Get the cabinet open Monkey" as he goes to read the letter, seeing if it is in a language or script familiar to him.

Monkey tries to unlock the cabinet without having to use excessive force.

Monkey rolled 6 dice on Unlock and got 5 successes.

Captain Kaizoku says, "Two cabins for a living, or unliving, occupant. Where is the other?""

Monkey puts his ear to the cabinet and taps the lock three times. Straightening up, he grabs the latch and pulls the cabinet door open.

Monkey . o O ( Unless I fail, in which case whatever behind the cabinet must be very valuable. )

The letter is in Old Realm, and begins in a fairly traditional, over-flowery prose. "Most noble and beloved servant, well-blessed in the grace of our masters, etc., etc." Actual meaningful text consist merely of mention of the "queen's city in the Season," and "this alliance is yet un-" The rest is covered in ink or simply unfinished.

Captain Kaizoku folds up the letter and puts it in his pocket, taking a moment to see if there are any signs of weapon or armor storage furnishing in the room.

Monkey . o O ( Speaking of which, whatever happened to the stuff the assassin was using? )

The cabinet contains quite a lot of clothes, mostly scarves, shawls, robes, and the like. Digging through the mass of fabric, Monkey comes across a cube, about a palm-width across in each dimension. It is simply yet beautifully decorated in a tracery of silver on white enamel, which comes together to form an elaborate mandala pattern on the top. By the heft of it, it's some kind of box.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I think the armor would have been dropped or burned up in the rush... the chakram should be around. )

The Storyteller . o O ( The assassin's gear was taken by the enemy after the fight with the Reducer. )

Monkey . o O ( Let's see, Monkey sees a box. What will Monkey do? Open the box, obviously. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Make an Int + Lore roll )

Captain Kaizoku again peers over Monkey's shoulder. "Do you know what that box does Monkey?" he asks firmly, and likely too late.

Monkey tries to get the box open.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Open Sesame and got 3 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Whoah. Didn't expect that. )

Despite peering at the box, shaking it vigorously, twisting it, shouting at it, and banging it up and down on the desk, Monkey is unable to open the box. On the other hand, the pattern on the top is rather fascinating... (You'll need to keep trying on it to open it. Each attempt will take an hour.)

Monkey says, "It's a box, Captain. Surely it contains something."

Monkey . o O ( An hour? Meh. )

Monkey gets bored. "Looks like a puzzle box, Captain. You want to try to solve it?"

Captain Kaizoku says, "Unless it is a solid box, or an artifact of some sort Monkey. Hand it over."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( What kind of clothes are in the chest, male or female? )

Monkey . o O ( Neuter. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Unisex. )

Monkey . o O ( OOC: Be careful with the box. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Hellrazor box? )

Monkey . o O ( Beats me. )

Captain Kaizoku examines the cube with more subtle means than Monkey used.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 6 dice on Int+Lore and got 1 success.

The Storyteller laughs.

Monkey . o O ( Okay. That's a good one. <laughs> )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Heh heh. )

The Storyteller . o O ( That's about it for the deckhouse cabins. Next action? )

Monkey . o O ( If there's enough time, I'll mess around with the box say, two or three more times, but there's only so much time Monkey will spend on it before he gets bored. )

Monkey . o O ( We party like it's CY 999! )

Captain Kaizoku is less happy than before, and checks on the bridge guards to make sure they're still alive before heading down to the gun deck.

The Storyteller . o O ( That depends on how long you want to stay on the ship. Of course, you can take the box with you, and accumulate successes over a period of time. )

Monkey takes the box. After all, it will still fetch a good price at the market.

Captain Kaizoku is too preoccupied with the enigma here to notice Monkey pocketing it.

Monkey says, "That's all, Captain."

The two gunzosha assigned to the bridge are still there, and still healthy. Everything is going according to plan...

Monkey . o O ( Not pocketing. It just goes to the general pile'o'stuffs. )

Captain Kaizoku says to them "Call out the window for a runner... I want some sorcerer-techs here on the double."

Monkey says, "Captain, unless you plan on using it, I suggest smashing everything to rubble and then salting the remains. Always work against the dead."

Monkey . o O ( Always work against the living too, but hey, let's not be picky. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Of course he was a vampire! He died when I put a stake through his heart and cut off his head! If that doesn't prove it, what does? )

Captain Kaizoku says, "With an evil power source as this ship has, it is not suitable for our purposes. But there may be parts of it we can put to our own use."

The Storyteller . o O ( Y'all are on the bridge, right? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yes, until after the instruction has been carried out. )

One of the gunzosha calls for a runner. After a few minutes, a woman in a soldier's uniform appears on the bridge, breathing heavily. "Sir?"

Captain Kaizoku gives the woman a curt nod. "This ship is down, and will not be rising again. I will require several sorcerer-techs and a few wagons to haul away what I can salvage, and the Legion is welcome to the rest. Run and pass that on to the support division head."

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, I just found a minor discrepancy between the wiki version and my stored text file of Monkey. I won't sweat it and just assume the wiki is right. )

She says, "Sir!" and dashes out the door. As she runs toward the city, your attention is drawn to a commotion near the hatch through which the reinforcements entered.

Monkey whispers to Captain Kaizoku, "Might want to smash the controls and the engine, Captain. A cut cable can be repaired quickly."

Captain Kaizoku says, "Not so quickly with a yard missing, but this ship should never fly again..."

Captain Kaizoku puts his Daiklave point down in the Hearthstone holder and then thrusts into it.

The Storyteller . o O ( what's your base damage? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( 9L. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Not enough to overcome it's Hardness. )

Monkey cocks his head to better listen and view the commotion.

The Storyteller . o O ( Make a Per + Awareness roll )

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Per + Awa - wound and got 1 success.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 4 dice on No Awareness and got 3 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Spend essence and overcome its hardness. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( That was without a roll... hardness trumps extra damage from attack rolls, doesn't it? )

Monkey . o O ( No. )

Several soldiers are gathered around one of the gunzosha. Looking closer at him, you see several black arrow shafts sticking out of his back. One of the soldiers breaks away from the group and runs toward the city on the double.

Captain Kaizoku swears under his breath and looks in the direction the arrows had to have come from, suspecting the sniper is on top of the ship.

The Storyteller . o O ( Per + Awareness )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 4 dice on No Awareness and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Also, roll Wits )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 3 dice on Wits and got 1 success.

Monkey rolled 2 dice on Wits - wound and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( It looks like the gunzosha staggered out of the hatchway, judging from the blood trail leading back into the ship. )

Captain Kaizoku says tightly "A diversion..."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( What weaponss do the gunzosha on the bridge have? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Fire lances and slashing swords )

Monkey says, "Should we get diverted, Captain?"

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Would a Firelance possibly be strong enough to damage the controls? )

Captain Kaizoku says, "They will want this ship, and will have to take the bridge and the engine room to have it back Monkey."

The Storyteller . o O ( No. You can make a Wits + Lore check to do something a bit more subtl, though. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I wanted to glue something in, but there's no glue in the Age of Sorrows.. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on Being clever. and got 6 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Sure there is! What do you think they do with old horses? )

Monkey . o O ( They glue old horses together? What for? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Make paste to eat? )

The Storyteller . o O ( It's a hearthstone socket aligned for Abyssal energies. Giving it a shot of the ol' Solar power can't be good for it, maybe enough to scramble it. Damage wouldn't be permanent, but would be crippling for a while. In other words, do an Essence blast on it. )

Captain Kaizoku says "Watch my back Monkey" as he puts his hands on the control column and channels the power of the Sun into his hands and through the unholy mechanisms within, his anima flaring up into a raging storm in the bridge.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 3 dice on Solar Flare and got 1 hit.

The Storyteller . o O ( Good enough. Though there's no visible damage, you can feel the distortion in the Essence flows through the bridge. Hopefully, that will thwart any recovery attempts. )

Captain Kaizoku swings his blade to the side. "Get out your Flame Pieces Monkey. It is time to go hunting."

Monkey . o O ( Wabbits? )

Monkey checks his flame pieces to make sure they are in working orders and joins the hunting expedition.

The Storyteller . o O ( Abyssal season! Solar season! Abyssal season! Solar season! Solar season! Abyssal season, fire! Bam! )

Captain Kaizoku says quietly "We will head to the main corridor. Hold onto the ceiling and I will try to draw out the Deathknight... then you will shoot her."

Monkey says, "You sure, Captain? Not the other way around?"

The Storyteller . o O ( Captain takes point? How about the gunzosha on the bridge? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Well, they could, true... )

Captain Kaizoku hmmms. "You men have better armor at the moment... one of you take the point, the other the rear... they may know other ways around this ship."

The Storyteller . o O ( Actually, I was just wondering if you want them along or if they're going to remain on guard on the bridge. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( With the controls scrambled, it should be safe enough unattended for the moment. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. The gunzosha follow your orders, swords at the ready. (The fire lances are a bit too unwieldy for the close quarters inside the ship.) )

Monkey . o O ( What happens if you smash the glass-soulsteel containers in the engine room? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Why don't you try it and find out? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( We'll find out soon. )

Captain Kaizoku advances sword at the ready, ears open for any hint of an approaching Deathknight as the ambush is set up at the main corridor leading to the bridge.

Monkey tries to find a good ambush spot on the ceiling.

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, so you're setting this up on the level below the deckhouse, at the stairs, correct? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yes. )

The Storyteller . o O ( And the captain is advancing down the corridor while the rest of you wait at the stairs? )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on Tactical and got 7 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Try not to get killed. Having Monkey take over is probably going to be disastrous to your plan to destroy the Realm. :) )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( WHOA )

The Storyteller . o O ( Nice roll. You'd probably better check the side doors at this point, just in case some of them allow access to other levels or the like. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And I'll do my best. But yes, a Gunz, with the captain right behind him are advancing, with the other in the rear, and are checking the doors. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh. Okay -- Monkey in ambush at the stairs with a gunzosha, while the captain follows the other gunzosha forward? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( With the ambush point advancing if nothing comes up. Sort of a leapfrogging search/ambush. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Got it. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I was figuring if the Deathknight is fast, it'll happen at the stairs, but if not, he'll get more chances. )

Advancing slowly and checking each door as they go, the captain and his gunzosha bodyguard find nothing -- yet. The rooms behind the doors are storerooms, mostly of what appear to be parts, or weapons, or armor, and the like. A couple simply hold innocuous crates and boxes. Nothing happens until they reach the engine room. There, they see two of the Dragon-blooded dead on the lower level with black arrows through their throats, and no sign of the third.

Judging from the way the corpses are still bleeding, the killing happened within the last few minutes at the latest.

Captain Kaizoku 's lips press together and his eyes narrow... he looks to where the cable was cut, and atop the column... a good ambush point and a vital location to repair.

The Storyteller . o O ( There is no "atop the column" -- it runs directly into the ceiling. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( At the top then, since someone could cling to it. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Make Per + Awareness roll. )

Monkey rolled 2 dice on roll and got 1 botch.

You rolled 9 dice on something and got 4 successes.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 4 dice on Per and got 1 success.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Crud. )

The Storyteller . o O ( You see no one, living or undead, in the engine room. )

Monkey . o O ( The gunzosha-tachi? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, except for him. Grrr. )

Monkey . o O ( No, I mean, don't they get a roll. Besides, IIRC, their armor gives them Essence Sight. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Is the cable still cut? )

Monkey . o O ( Of course, I might be thinking of the far more powerful dragon armor. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, okay. Sorry. Tired + headache = distracted GM. And yes, the cable's still cut. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Monkey, go up there and make sure the cable is still cut... with your staff."

You rolled 6 dice on Gunzosha perception and got 7 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Daaammm. )

The lead gunzosha points toward a shadowed corner on the lower level and shouts, "There!" In reply, a black arrow wings out of the darkness toward him.

The Storyteller . o O ( Roll init -- no weapon bonuses. )

Monkey rolled 1d10+7 and got 10.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 1d10+7 and got 17.

On 1d10+8, you rolled 13.

On 1d10+10, you rolled 15.

The Storyteller . o O ( First, a quick round for the archery attack. )

You rolled 13 dice on Thief of Crows archery attack and got 5 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Dear Dragonblooded. It was nice to meet you. Shame you died so quickly. :) )

You rolled 5 dice on gunzosha dodge and got 6 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Dayum again! )

Monkey . o O ( Yay! More bodies. )

The arrow barely misses the gunzosha as he throws himself to the side in a dodge.

The Storyteller . o O ( Order is: CK, Abyssal, Gunzoshas, Monkey. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( How far is the shadowy patch away from where the Captain is? )

The Storyteller . o O ( About 35 feet, not taking vertical angle into account. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Have to figure clever ways to use the many tactical dice present. What's the height differential? Greater than 4 yards? Can the Captain do a bouncing run, hopping from point to point to get down to there? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Ten feet from catwalk to lower deck. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( No prob then. )

Monkey . o O ( Easily jumpable, and stuntable too. )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, flame piece range is 24 feet.... )

Captain Kaizoku crouches down and dashes forward, his golden coat flapping up behind him like wings as he runs, jumps up and flips in the air to the lower deck and charges into the blackness, flaring up his anima to light the dark area (1 mote flare), putting his momentum into a charging sword attack.

The Storyteller . o O ( 2-die stunt. Are you attacking? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Free move, two actions, one held for defense. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Four motes in Excellent Strike. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 16 dice on Sword Strike and got 6 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Wait! )

The Storyteller . o O ( dammit. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Whoops. )

Monkey . o O ( Subtract it and have him reroll, no big deal. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Lose 8 dice due to Fivefold Shadow Form defense. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Ahhh, should have asked about penalties. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on Sword Strike and got 6 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Geee. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Heh, same successes. )

As the Captain charges into the darkness, he can make out the Abyssal archer, a woman garbed in leather and soulsteel with a veil woven of that metal. In her hands is a long powerbow, and she moves like shadow itself in an attempt to avoid the captain's blade.

You rolled 12 dice on Abyssal dodge and got 8 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Should have aimed for the bowstring... )

As she slips in and out of the dancing shadows cast by the Captain's anima flare, the shadows gather around two arrows she nocks to her bow. When she looses the arrows, the shadows spring forward like dark heralds of the target shafts.

The Storyteller . o O ( Minute. Calculating. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, lose 3 dice on defense. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Can't parry arrows without a charm, right? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Or a stunt. Of course. )

You rolled 9 dice on Thief of Crows attack and got 4 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I have a stunt notion... )

The Storyteller . o O ( stunt away. )

Captain Kaizoku 's swing went high, but as the Deathknight took aim, he hooked the hole in the top of his blade on the top of the powerbow and gave a flick of the wrist to pull the bow out of line with his body, turning the sword in a full circle above his head.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Can that be a parry? )

The Storyteller . o O ( I'll call that a 1-die stunt that allows a parry for the first attack. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 11 dice on Funky parry and got 10 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Oh, my god... )

The Storyteller . o O ( Dammit. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Am I still under penalties from the DK's charm? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Eh? Yes, you should have subtracted 3 dice from your defense roll. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Ack, sorry. Reroll then? )

The Storyteller . o O ( yeah. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 8 dice on Funky parry and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( ay. )

The Storyteller . o O ( what's your lethal soak? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( 10 )

You rolled 3 dice on damage and got 1 botch.

The Storyteller . o O ( No damage... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Broken bowstring? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Second attack: )

Monkey . o O ( You want to do xld. Otherwise it will count tens twice. )

The Storyteller . o O ( thx )

You rolled 8 dice on Abyssal second arrow and got 6 successes.

You rolled 9 dice on damage and got 3 hits.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( No defense actions left. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I'm probably dead. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Not with three hits. However, you take 3 levels of Lethal damage _and_ lose 1 dot of Dex for an hour as the cold of the shadows enters your veins. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I'm already down three from last time. )

Monkey . o O ( How low are you on essence? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I'm good actually... 39 periph. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And there's more attacks coming. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Gunzosha. The forward gunzosha races for the ladder and slides down it, which takes his action. The second readies his fire lance from the catwalk. Monkey, your turn. )

Monkey . o O ( Start using them then. )

Monkey figures out that it's impossible to hit the deathknight with the flame pieces, given that even Captain Kaizoku couldn't touch her.

Monkey . o O ( 35 feet is... 12 yards. Monkey can move 13 yards and Monkey can jump well. So, say Monkey can get to where she is right away? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yup. )

Monkey tosses both flame pieces upward, letting them fall where they may, and clambers up the column on all fours before hopping over in front of the deathknight. As soon as he touches the catwalk, he bounces again into and tries to grab her, hoping to get her in close combat.

The Storyteller . o O ( 2-die stunt and... Subtract 8 dice from the attack as she dodges again. )

The Storyteller . o O ( No. 7 dice. )

Monkey . o O ( Spending WP to channel Valor. )

Monkey . o O ( this is a clinch attempt )

Monkey rolled 8 dice on Clinch and got 4 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Yeah, I'm making you look up the clinch rules. Sorry. Desperate times, desperate measures. :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( Successfully clinched her. Roll initiative. Captain, you get your speed bonus this time. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Wound and chill penalties though, right? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Correct. )

Monkey says, "Captain! Now! Blast her!"

Captain Kaizoku rolled 1d10+11 and got 21.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( OK, do I get an attack bonus when she's clinched? )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 20.

Monkey rolled 1d10+7 and got 12.

The Storyteller . o O ( I don't think so, but she can't defend except against the clinch itself. )

Monkey . o O ( Despite what I yell, cutting off her head works too. )

Monkey . o O ( What Jesse said, plus Reflexive charms, of course. )

On 1d10+8, you rolled 17.

The Storyteller . o O ( Order is: CK, Abyssal, Gunz, Monkey )

Captain Kaizoku lifts his sword above his head and spins it over and over until it becomes a solid circle of gold, then brings it down vertically, plunging the blazing fast disk of metal into the back of the horrific Deathknight!

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( One action. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Not even reflexives, actually -- only Charms that improve soak or specifically say they can be used in a clinch. )

The Storyteller . o O ( This includes Increasing Strength Exercise, btw. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Cap, that's a 2-die stunt. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( 8 motes in Excellent Strike )

The Storyteller had such high hopes for this deathknight.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 21 dice on spinning sword strike and got 7 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Hey, she wounded the boss character severely. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Lose 9 dice from soak and roll the damage. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 7 dice on something and got 2 hits.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( now would have been a good time for a 100% success roll, but no... )

The Storyteller . o O ( Her turn for a clinch roll... )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, what kind of pain and torture will Monkey will have to go through to get the supernatural merit of Luck? )

You rolled 4 dice on Abyssal clinch and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( spending wp for auto-success. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, Monkey, you actually go on her initiative since you're in a clinch... )

Monkey . o O ( Not taking any risks. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Hmm. She's gonna channel valor on that one, too. )

You rolled 3 dice on Valor dice and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( She has 3 successes. )

Monkey rolled 8 dice on Clinch (work, dangit!) and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Ooh, tied. Neither of you has control over the other, so... Stalemate. The gunzoshas' turn. )

Monkey . o O ( Hah@ )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( SHe was wounded from the blade, right? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes, she was. )

The gunzosha on the lower level runs over and takes a stab at the deathknight. Meanwhile, the upper one takes careful aim with his Fire Lance.

You rolled 12 dice on Gunzosha stabby and got 3 successes.

You rolled 9 dice on damage and got 4 hits.

The Storyteller . o O ( wait, forgot soak. )

You rolled 1 dice on damage and got 1 hit.

Monkey . o O ( I recommend, if you win init next turn and she hasn't escaped the clinch (or died), that you split your action as many times as the daiklave rate will allow, and use maxed-out Excellent Strike on her. )

You rolled 12 dice on Fire Lance attack and got 6 successes.

You rolled 13 dice on Fire Lance damage and got 4 hits.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I was thinking that. I can use the max level with each attack if I choosee, right? )

The deathknight screams in agony as the Essence-driven flames wash over her, charring her ivory features.

The Storyteller . o O ( roll init )

Monkey . o O ( Yes. Although that fire lance guy may have made the point moot. )

On 1d10+10, you rolled 19.

Monkey rolled 1d10+7 and got 11.

On 1d10+8, you rolled 10.

Captain Kaizoku rolled 1d10+11 and got 15.

You rolled 6 dice on Abyssal clinch and Valor and got 4 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Monkey, counter-clinch )

The Storyteller is rather glad he always calculates clinch on characters.

Monkey . o O ( Spending wp to channel valor. )

Monkey rolled 13 dice on Clinch (please work again) and got 7 successes.

Monkey . o O ( Booya. And I get to do 3 bashing damage! )

Monkey rolled 3 dice on something and got 1 hit.

The Storyteller . o O ( You control it: Damage, hold, or throw? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay, damage. Captain? )

Monkey . o O ( Eh? I have to choose? )

The Storyteller . o O ( I believe so... though damage seems to include hold, so... don't worry about it. )

Monkey . o O ( Oh good. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yeah. "hold" in my notes means "hold without damage," so it's all good. Captain, do your thing. She's quite badly wounded. )

Monkey . o O ( Oh, of course! The controller can either let go, or hold the guy down without harming him, or squeeze. Duh. )

Captain Kaizoku throws his sword up in the air, spinning it end over end. He catches it with the blade facing him and brings it down between Monkey and the Deathknight... right at throat level. Eyes narrowing as his caste mark burns with the power of the sun, he says simply "Yeild or die, hellspawn" and brings his blade across the throat, just enough to bring a line of blood to the pale skin.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( So, a speech to get a surrender, and an attack if it fails. Two actions? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Speech is free. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Hmmm... do the tactical dice apply to presence to demoralize the enemy? )

The Abyssal croaks out, through charred lips, "I yield, sun-child."

The Storyteller . o O ( Not really necessary. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Drop the bow, now."

Monkey . o O ( Well, that's great. What are we going to do with an Abyssal prisoner? )

The Storyteller . o O ( So, now you have a prisoner. What do you do with her? )

The Storyteller . o O ( She's already dropped the bow -- she had to with the clinch. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Oh, whoops. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Monkey can squeeze her until she goes out cold, right? )

Monkey . o O ( Could you just knock her out with the pommel or something? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Or that. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yes. If you want her out cold, let's just say it happens and move on (so I can work out a bit of personality before she actually has to talk...) )

Captain Kaizoku says harshly "Your unlife belongs to me now!" as he brings up the guard of his blade into the forehead of the Deathknight.

The Storyteller . o O ( Bonk on the caste mark and she's out cold. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Damn, should have asked where her friend was first. )

Monkey stands up and dusts himself. "That was a bit iffy for a while there, Captain."

Captain Kaizoku tosses down the rope. "Bind her quickly!" he says, leaning back on the bulkhead to staunch the arrow wound in his neck.

Captain Kaizoku waves that suggestion away. "This one went down much faster than the last two..." he remarks. "Search her for any hidden tools."

The Storyteller . o O ( Talking to Monkey or the gunzosha? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Monkey, since he's right there. )

Captain Kaizoku turns to the gunzosha. "There is one of your comrades missing... round up a squad to search" he says grimly. "And good shooting, both of you."

Monkey spends some time making sure the knots binding her are tight and everything, and then search her. Can't have her waking up and running away during the search.

You rolled 4 dice on infection resistance and got 3 successes.

You rolled 4 dice on infection resistance and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( I forgot -- Captain, roll Stamina + Resistance to avoid infection. )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, unlike White Soul Weeping, it's going to take a lot of of convincing to bring this one to your side, what with the new system. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 4 dice on Sta no resist and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( Good enough. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Presuming that her master can't kill her from a distance. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And now the captain isn't in the best of shape to fly to the Floating Dead HQ. )

Monkey says, "Captain, we should have that wound looked for. Perhaps Yeke Delger or a Legion sorcerer could help you."

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. You've captured one Abyssal and one creepy skyship, but suffered some nasty wounds. What do you do next? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Check the guns on the ship to see if they're suitable (not death powered) to be de-mounted. )

Monkey . o O ( You can have the legionnaires do that. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And is the interior still a Shadowland, or did that stop when the cable was cut? )

The Storyteller . o O ( As it's already 3:30 realtime, we'll fast-forward a bit. Captain, what are your plans for the rest of the day/week till the fleet arrives? Also, it's still shadowland. )

Monkey . o O ( David, you're sweating over the small stuff. Leave the ship to the Legion. First thing is see if you can be healed magically. Then look at the the stuffs we found. Possibly the warstrider security system. If the Abyssal wakes up, question her. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( As above, with an eye to mounting the guns on the fleet's ships, determining its power source, talking with the deathknight to find out who she works for and what happened to her friend and planning an assualt on the floating dead base via ship. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I am a detail fiend, true. Is there anyone with magical healing? The City Father? )

The Storyteller . o O ( That's quite a bit to pack into... um... one day. )

Monkey . o O ( Well, is Kaizoku going to stay in the ship while we discuss things OOC about what to do or is he going to actually meet the City Father? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Go to the Manse, since that will help get Essence back, and also give the commander the story thus far. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Your other ships should arrive tomorrow, on the 24th, and the evacution fleet should arrive on the 25th or 26th. )

Monkey drags Captain Kaizoku to the Manse, as it is clear that he's in a daze thinking about too many things.

The Storyteller . o O ( Juggernaut should show up on the 26th or 27th. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( At least the Sky Guard can come in to help evacuate now. )

Outside, at the first sight of a sorcerer-engineer, Monkey asks, "Hey, my Captain is wounded heavily. Is your sorcery capable of healing him faster?"

The Storyteller . o O ( Oddly enough -- no. Flipping through Exalted: DB, their Medecine tree doesn't include any "heal other people" Charms. (!) )

The Storyteller . o O ( Looking through the spells now, though. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I don't recall any healing spells offhand myself... )

Monkey . o O ( Ah, tricky thing, those DB-charms. What you want to do is look at their... hmmm, occult or lore charm instead. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( I guess that's because they turned their back on the real gods. :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( Hmm? Okay. )

Monkey . o O ( From what I remember when I played a DB, if a DB wants to heal someone, they take his wounds first, then they heal themselves. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Ah. That makes sense. And hey, the Dragons are real gods! )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( If the dragon's aren't playing the Games of Divinity, are they real gods? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Oh, here it is. Can't heal per se, but can convert all his wounds to bashing instead of Lethal. Which a medic does, for both of you. Do you want them to heal the Abyssal as well? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yes. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Make that two medics, then... )

Monkey argues for "No. At least not until we're sure she won't endanger the crew."

The Storyteller . o O ( How damaged are you guys now? )

Captain Kaizoku says, "If she's that bruised, she will be easily put down again Monkey, without her weapons or armor."

Monkey . o O ( 2B. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( 6B )

Monkey says, "Well, maybe, but what purpose would healing her serve, Captain?"

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay: Abby heals in 24 hours, Captain in 18 hours, Monkey in 6 hours. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "We need information from her, about the other Deathknight, the ship and her master. If she is on the verge of death, that will be harder to get. And I may be able to reason with her into seeing the light."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Does the Legion have a secure cell for Exalts?\ )

Monkey says, "If you say so, Captain."

Monkey remains unconvinced that this is the best course.

The Storyteller . o O ( Nope. Not here in Celeren, anyway. They can try to rig something up, though. Where do you want to try to keep her? (Note that they're quite in favor of just killing her outright.) )

Captain Kaizoku says, "Many captains would have thrown you back into the sea Monkey, after you challenged them."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Maybe in the harbormaster's underground office? And he will suggest that she can always be killed later, but can talk now to them. )

The Storyteller . o O ( The harbormaster's office is out -- it's too near a manse. On board a warship would probably be the best place. )

Monkey keeps his silence.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Are they offering, or will it have to be the Nimbus? )

The Storyteller . o O ( They figure any ship she's on will be in danger, so it's pretty much the Nimbus or the Stormhammer. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Nimbus then, with her gear on the Stormhammer. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Wotcher. Leaving her for the moment, then... )

Monkey says, "While we wait for her to wake up, Captain, shall we take a look at all this technical stuff?"

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The skyship is secured by the Legion, allowing the air evac to start, I trust? )

Captain Kaizoku moves a bit gingerly still. "Yes. I didn't think you were interested in such things Monkey."

Monkey says, "It will give us something to do while we wait for her, Captain."

Captain Kaizoku says, "You do realize that there is no room on any of my ships for a warstrider..."

Monkey says, "Warstrider? What warstrider? Why would we want to carry one? Nimbus will sink from the weight!"

Monkey . o O ( an exaggeration, probably, but pretty close. )

Captain Kaizoku says, "You expressed so much interest in them Monkey, I suspected you might try to bring one along as a memento."

The Storyteller . o O ( The Legion is able to divert four technicians and a scale of workers to dismantle the skyship as quickly as possible. Though the ventral weapons were irreperably damaged in the crash, the dorsal weapons are still salvagable. These are: two lightning ballistae, two warstrider fire lances, and four light implosion bows. All will take a bit of work to be mountable on a watercraft -- say, ten successes on a Craft roll. As for how many you get... gimme a minute. )

Monkey nods and hmms distractedly, busy playing with that puzzle box.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Hey, the contract says that anything we sieze is ours! )

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Int + Lore and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( True... but you did have Seventh Legion help onboard, so there's wiggle room. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( We just invited them on after we crashed it, and are donating most of the thing to them. Tsk. )

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Int + Lore and got no successes but no botches either.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on Int + Lore and got 1 success.

The Storyteller . o O ( They can't use most of it -- it's all damned souls and accursed wood. That's like saying "Here, you can have this corpse and I'll just take the money. )

Monkey . o O ( Okay, Monkey has spent three hours playing with that box and got 5 accumulated successes. Any reason why Monkey shouldn't get bored and toss it back to the pile? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Yeah, make a Temperance roll... )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The engines should work fine. Well, it's all profit anyway. )

Monkey rolled 2 dice on something and got 1 success.

Monkey . o O ( But the engine runs on kitten blood! That's Evil with a capital E! )

The Storyteller . o O ( The box is... fascinating. The pattern on the top seems to change and shift the more you play with it. It's awfully hard to put it down for less important things... like eating. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Sure, but the turbines, the thrusters, should be able to be hooked up to a good power source. )

Monkey . o O ( Okay. Let me know after those three hours passed in-game and when I should make more rolls. )

Monkey . o O ( You're sweating small stuffs again. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The big problem left is the Floating Dead, which is solvable now that there's some healing being done, but we'll have to question the Theif before we leave. )

The Storyteller . o O ( CK, roll Cha + Bur + any Charms. Each success convinces the officers that you are rightfully entitled to three dots worth of artifacts from the ship and each attempt takes three hours. You start negotiating when Monkey starts working on the puzzle box, mid-afternoon. )

Captain Kaizoku rolled 9 dice on Work the system and got 4 successes.

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( How many is that, ballistae first, then implosion bows? )

The Storyteller . o O ( 12 dots -- settle for that or go for another three hours? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Ballistae are worth 3 dots, bows are worth 2 dots, fire lances are worth 4 dots. )

Monkey . o O ( That's good enough. We can't handle a lot of essence-powered weapons. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yes, we'll let them have the rest. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Generosity in triumph. :) )

Monkey . o O ( So, 2 lightning ballistae and 3 light implosion bows. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Yep. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. They're quite happy to handle the fire lances, which will be a very useful addition to the warstriders. )

The Storyteller . o O ( I'll just update the fleet's Wiki page. )

Monkey . o O ( Okay, checking my list-o-stuff, there's the warstrider security system, the ship's engine and control system, the book with strange writings, the box, and the pouch with the strange work. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( What does the book say, now that the Captain has a chance to read it? It might help in talking to the Theif. )

TonyC whispers, "It's hard playing an impulsive character, especially since I think I know what that box is and the consequences having a low Lore with it."

The Storyteller . o O ( It's a book of devotions and puzzles, some of which are the same. All focus on the inevitability and desirability of death over life. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And the pouch? )

The Storyteller . o O ( Still tied up. What are you going to do with it? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Try to untie it, or see if Emerald Countermagic will do the trick failing that. )

Monkey . o O ( You're acting like Monkey. Heh. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( When would Monkey use Emerald Countermagic to deal with a problem? :) )

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. I think we'd better continue over e-mail, then, since I need to finish working out the consequences. However, I can tell you that Emerald Countermagic does undo the knot, and the pouch is full of sand. The sand seems perfectly normal save that it has a strange green tint in some lights and from some angles. The captain has an instinctive dislike of it. )

Captain Kaizoku will seal it back up then.

Monkey . o O ( What's for next week then? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Grill the Theif and take a Stormwind out to recon the Floating Dead base, either to destroy it if possible or lead the reassembled fleet against it if not. )

The Storyteller . o O ( The captain's unable to seal it -- he can only tie the cord into an ordinary knot. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( And recruit some DB gunners! )

The Storyteller . o O ( I before E except after C... )

Monkey rolled 3 dice on something and got 1 success.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on something and got 1 success.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on something and got 2 successes.

Monkey rolled 3 dice on something and got 2 successes.

The Storyteller . o O ( Box? )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The Box is Monkey's department. )

TonyC whispers, "Okay, so it will take 12 more hours to get the box opened. We may want to discuss whether CK notices before it's opened. Otherwise, we'll start next week in a very different situation."

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( The Captain didn't notice he picked it up. )

TonyC [to jetman]: The log will show you that Monkey tossed it into the general pile.

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Anyway, anything else?

You whisper, "How many successes do you have so far?" to TonyC.

TonyC whispers, "11."

jetman [to Apollonian]: I think that's all my big concerns for the moment.

The Storyteller . o O ( Okay. Let's call it a night. 6 XP each. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( Great, thanks for everything! )

Monkey . o O ( Hmmm, Monkey's nature is Thrillseeker. Without going into details, do you think tonight some of his action fulfilled his nature? )

You whisper, "Still needs a few more to open." to TonyC.

TonyC [to jetman]: G'night.

The Storyteller . o O ( Aye, plus -- since we'll start in the morning -- roll Conviction for Willpower anyway. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Come to think of it, the Captain did some Leader stuff, too. )

Captain Kaizoku . o O ( A bit, yes. )

TonyC [to Apollonian]: How much wp does Monkey recover? There's a range of 1-3.

jetman [to TonyC]: Nite!

Monkey rolled 4 dice on Conv and got 1 botch.

The Storyteller . o O ( Can you botch those? )

Monkey . o O ( You know, I honestly don't know. )

Monkey . o O ( No worries. Handle it later. )

The Storyteller . o O ( Well, what the heck. Put yourselves both back to full Willpower -- you accomplished quite a lot since morning. )

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Last thing. I'm gonna reformat Monkey's wiki sheet. I don't like the style you used.

The Storyteller . o O ( Very well. )

TonyC [to Apollonian]: I'll just go back to the older style sheet.

TonyC [to Apollonian]: Bye. And you too, David.

TonyC decides that saving the world takes priority over chatting and disappears.

jetman [to Apollonian]: Nite! Thanks again!

Apollonian [to jetman]: Night.
