Cast Listing for Games of Divinity
Note, I left a lot of open room after the prologue and act I. I want to see what other people do with this. The following is largely what I see myself, and what I had in mind while I was writing my section. Feel free to use or abuse it as you wish.
The Celestial Incarna
I used the Celestial Incarna a lot, because I was trying to set the scene. You don't have to feel compelled to do so:) I'd advise getting into the main characters more, fleshing them out and their stories. Use the Incarna less as the driving force of the story, and more as the impetous of the events in the story -- they push events on, and keep things moving, rather than taking part directly.
Jupiter
- Knows more about current events than she's telling the others (of course)
- Gouged out parts of Cailus' soul before he was born; has been planning this for a long time.
Main Characters
Hannak`Dur
- An old and ancient Celestial Lion
- Very poor for his station; no longer gets regular assignments as a Celestial Lion.
- Formal and very polite, but somewhat retired -- doesn't much like his job anymore.
- Given a sacred mission long ago by a member of the Eclipse Caste to which he devotes 'all his time'.
- Was friends with Zael Light-Bringer, Cailus' previous "incarnation," and is keeper of his inheritence
- the exact nature of the sacred mission should be a big thing -- don't give it away yourself, but fee free to hint at what it is.
- as the story goes on, we can all decide what exactly the sacred mission is:) It should be something big, and not easily accomplished.
Wang`Fu
- A younger wise-cracking Lion Dog, with a serious infatuation with females.
- Sidekick character; loyal to but somewhat disrespectful toward his master, Hannak`Dur
- Largely a comedy character, but not just a comedy character. He's got some wisdom behind his smart mouth.
- The 'down to earth', 'cunning' and 'realistic' of the duo. Unlike Hannak`Dur, he's more willing to get himself dirty.
- Doesn't like or trust Sidereals, for some reason. (This didn't get to show up in Act I; feel free to ignore).
Cailus
- A young rapscallion and woodsmen from a village in the Scavenger Lands
- Good, but not really great, with swords prior to his Exaltation.
- Better with words, getting people to agree with him, trickery. Etc.
- In love with Rosimund.
- Brave, but somewhat foolhardy.
- Exalted with a special spark, that had been 'put aside' by the request of Jupiter.
- Probably an Eclipse caste, but could be Night.
- His spark belonged to a great ruler named Zael Light-Bringer in the First Age
- LytekGamesOfDivinityStory/DIDN'T/ clean up his spark -- it's still got TONS of memories, emotions and feelings from the past.
- Doesn't have the part of his soul that keeps his memories and feelings separate from that of those of the spark. As a result, he's slowly becoming an amalgation of Cailus and Zeal.
- Now has access to Zeal's greatest virtues, but not the parts of Zeal's soul that showcase his many failings. Better than having neither, but not as good as having both.
Darkness When All Is Bright
- Leader of a troup of bandits, was killed when he set upon Cailus and Rosimund during Cailus' exaltation
- Given a second chance on life as an Abyssal Exalt in the moments of his death by Mask of Winters
- Bent on taking revenge for his killing: thinks Cailus is little more than an upstart who got lucky, aims to prove it
- Caste still undetermined. Could easily be a member of almost every caste, except maybe Daybreak
Supporting Cast
Rosimund
- In love with Cailus
- The daughter of someone important from the village (possilby the hetman).
- Very beautiful, and often desired for her beauty.
- Determined to never be hurt again, no matter what
Second Bandit
- De Facto leader of the bandits now that his leader has been killed
- Trying to sell Rosimund off to the sex trade, or something similar
- Attempting to rebuild his troup of bandits after it was decimated by Cailus
Phineas
- Servant of an as yet unknown offstage presence, probably the Eclipse HD works for, or perhaps one of his successors, or perhaps someone else entirely.
- Runs his own little pleasure palace in the city, delights in entertaining guests
- Always dresses impeccably
Ren Li
- Bumbling Sidereal Bureaucrat
- Has no sifu; possibly due to a severe lack of depth-perception, or lack of coordination in general
- Has been enlisted by Lytek to lose any paperwork on Cailus
Wordsmith of Phantasies
- Ancient Fae Worker
- Known for turning dreams into books that let a reader watch the dreams as if their own
- Created and held a pair of books for Hannuk Dur based on Zael Light-Bringer
The Three Spirits of the 'Evil' Book
- One of them is a female, the other two are males.
- The female was a case of rape/murder, and was a virgin-priestess of the Unconquered Sun. She carries Zeal's guilt and shame.
- The warrior-one one as a oathed companion and friend of Zeal, who was betrayed by his master. He carries Zeal's disgrace and pride.
- The sage is bound to a higher compact than the others, and can only be commanded following a Quest to prove one is worthy of the burdens that he carries and the knowledge that he holds in trust. The test should be HARD:)
