Cathak Yushis
Growing up, Yushis was wowed by tales of the brilliance of the Realm legions. Slow and methodical, he nonetheless listened carefully, learning everything that he could and excelling at feats of knowledge and understanding. His parents, knowing the martial bent of their house, pushed Yushis to learn about military campaigns and tactics, and he read these accounts as a boy desperate for water might drink.
Yushis’s Exaltation was unexceptional, by some standards. One night, during a holiday at primary school, he found a set of old military manuals from the latter days of the Shogunate. Amazed, he began to read… and read… and read. He Exalted while reading, and hardly noticed. It was not until one of his teachers came looking for him, two days later, that he realized he had not eaten, drunk, or slept since picking up the first book. From there, his initiation at the House of Bells and eventual military career was essentially a given.
Description
Yushis is a slim, but fit, man, wearing elaborate red jade armour, with bronzed curves and highlights, and wielding a great white dire lance. His hair, black and straight, is cut short in a military style, and his eyes survey the area around him curiously.

Artifacts:
Lamellar Armor (***): Yushis’s armor, the Burnished Scales of Pasiap, was worn by the great general Cathak Surmanis in the Wyld invasions of the North over two hundred years ago. It provides the soak bonuses of lamellar, but also adds +2 to the difficulty of Shaping rolls against the character by beings of the Wyld, and increases the character’s Essence by 2 for the purpose of rolls or static values to resist Wyld shaping or works of Glamour.
Dire Lance (**): Yushis’s Dire Lance was crafted by the Dragon-Blooded artificer Malvanis, who was a defense-minded crafter. It has one lower Accuracy and one higher Defense than an ordinary dire lance.
Cache Egg (*): Yushis is frequently on the move, and his Cache Egg lets him take whatever books and materials he feels he might need along with him.
