Background
The Boy's earliest memories are of a woman's soft voice. Before he took form in Creation, he was Somewhere Else, but he doesn't care to remember where. Rather, he prefers to think of that voice, that of an old woman, singing to her child of a better world than the one in which she lived.
The Boy took shape listening to those songs, and they helped to form his ideas of himself. Eventually, he felt that he understood enough to speak with her. He cloaked himself in the gossamer-thin idea of trust, and came before her, and began to learn. She unburdened her fears to him; that the tyrant who ruled the town would take her children, as they had taken her husband. From her, he learned that there was more than one emotion in the human world, and he was both elated and terrified. In return, he spoke to her, fed back her own songs with even more power laid through them, and he helped her to believe that there was more than the pain that she feared.
The end came suddenly, as all endings do. A soldier came one year, and took a fancy to the girl tending the bar. The Boy watched as the woman's hopes began to collapse around her, and he took action. He wove glamours together, and gave her the strength that she needed, swearing to himself that he would never falter from such aid. She found courage, in that moment, and she stood her ground against the soldier. She acted to protect her child. The soldier cut her down in a single arc, but that only made matters worse. The townsfolk grew enraged. They mobbed the soldier and killed him. In a fury, they charged towards the castle, with the Boy right behind. Soldiers fled, deserted, even changed sides against their lord. By the end of the day, the lord was dead, and the Boy smiled. The world could be made right.
Since then, he has travelled, encouraging people to hope for something more than what they have. His passing sows chaos and transformation, as old orders no longer appease and people take action for their own goals. Many have even come to worship him as a minor god, calling on him to give them the strength that they need to believe in a better world. He is endlessly amused by this.
It is a good world, indeed.
