Dogskull's version
Essence-Scattering Blast
Cost: 1+ motes, 1 Willpower Duration: Instant Type: Simple Min Lore: 3 Min Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Crypt Bolt
As above except: Target loses a number of motes equal to the TWICE the number motes spent by the attacker + the attacker's Permanent Essence. ( (2 x spent motes) + (1 x Essence) ).
This is to make it more than remotely useful for it's cost (1 Willpower). Also the Extra Successes of the attack roll in no way contribute to the damage.
Comments:
could add the extra successes after defense to the amount of motes lost. It's not as if a willpower is cheap, after all, and abyssals seem like the only brand of exalt that should get an actually really nice essence-waster. If you want to make it slightly less great, add that change but also 'soak' the attack with the target's Permanant Essence. That way you can't use it to such great effect on high-essence targets.

I think if you want a better version, there are ways to do it. But I like where this one is on the tree. Remember, a /lot/ of abyssal charms are designed to make them bullies. They do very, very well against an inferior opponent. And this, for instance, will leave an Earth Immaculate with no motes at all. Which is what it's designed for. I'd hesitate to make it a Solar stomper as well. - Scrollreader
