Echoes of the Past
An online Ex2 Solar chronicle run by Moxiane
The past is an anchor, for good and ill.
What was haunts what is, and Creation is shackled by the weight of memory and the lies of history. Now, unburdened by one and freed from the other, you have become more than you were and the power of the Unconquered Sun sings in the depths of your soul. Will you become a force for change, a bulwark against those who would keep things as they are because they fear anything else; or will you fall before your enemies - both old and new - and a footnote of some future lie?
The past is an anchor, but will you cut the rope?
The Game
Echoes of the Past is a game about new Solars uncovering buried truths, and how they live up to the deeds and face up to the mistakes of their former selves. Their enemies will include those who wish the true past to remain hidden in shadow and those who embody the darkest aspects of that past, while amongst their allies will number those who look forwards to a shining future or who remember a glorious past.
Character Generation
- Characters should be from the East, Southeast or Scavenger Lands, or at least have a good in-character reason as to why they are there.
- No more than four dots of combined Artifact backgrounds can be bought at generation.
Rules Modifications
- Orichalcum artefacts were very rarely rated below ••••, the preciousness of the metal and the skill of the Solars during the First Age meant that little of the sun's material was wasted in such comparatively weak items. Following the Usurpation many of these items were "sealed" by means of ancient and powerful magic, reducing their effective strength. They can be "unlocked" by characters dedicated, or lucky, enough to do so.
- The Craft Ability defaults to Craft (Mortal), and each dot in it allows the character to use one of the five mortal crafts (Air, Earth, Fire, Water or Wood) to the level of the Ability. Exotic and/or unusual crafts, such as Craft (Fate) or Craft (Genesis) must be acquired separately.
- Backgrounds can be increased by means of roleplaying and the expenditure of experience points (1x current level to increase by 1). New backgrounds (subject to type) cost 2xp for the first dot.
- Combos can be modified (by adding and/or subtracting Charms) by paying additional experience points equal to the difference of creating the new Combo and the old Combo from scratch plus an additional experience point per change made to the make-up of the Charm.
