Alabaster Chimes in the Shadowed Cathedral

Who he is

A Midnight Caste Abyssal, the most favored servant of the Walker in Darkness. In the game, he began as a contact for Maylin who bought her gems to use as funerary regalia. He later asked to travel with the Circle, and--when they accepted--aided the characters in their journey to Lookshy. When they were dragged before the Daimyo, he brokered the deal that got them exile instead of execution. As far as they know, he remains with the Daimyo, working on an alliance between the Walker in Darkness and Lookshy against the Mask of Winters.

Known History

Born a street urchin in Sijan, the man who would later become Alabaster Chimes spent most of his early life starving and alone. He died as he lived, forgotten and hungry, until the Walker in Darkness came to him and offered him the chance to change the world. Seduced by Walker's words and driven by a vision of the equality offered in death, Alabaster Chimes accepted the Black Exaltation.

Also, the Circle has learned that in his previous incarnation, before his Essence Shard was tainted, Alabaster Chimes was named Maenin, the last Hierophant of the Deliberative and fifth member of their Circle. What this means to their long-term relationship, the Circle has not yet discovered, though Alabaster Chimes was as surprised to discover this as they were...

Appearance

Alabaster Chimes is an angel sculpted from stone. His skin is white as snow, and his long, flowing white hair cascades down his back like a waterfall in the north. He has wide-set silver eyes, a aquiline nose, and a face and body thinned by the years of hunger he suffered before his Exaltation. He isn't very tall, standing perhaps only five and a half feet, but he has the presence of a much taller man. Despite his undeniable beauty, there is something disturbing about him. His white skin shines slightly, like marble reflecting light, and his hair remains unmatted even in the wind. In the darkness, he seems almost luminuous.

Typically, he wears a matted and torn shroud when in Creation. Beneath the shroud, he usually wears bandages wrapped about his limbs.
