Also known as the Seductress and the First of Many, her true name is unknown although it is said that if one could discover and invoke it she can answer one question or perform one favour free of charge; after this she can not aid the person again even if she wishes to. In her own way the Lady of Webs is very honourable and will sometimes grant favours for a negotiated price, she has little care for the Weave in the granting of these favours but seems to come to the attention of the Maidens far less than most. There are several rumours among both gods and mortals as to why this is so, all of which are denied by the powers who could answer such questions.
She is credited with the creation of the martial arts form known as Spider Style and is a master of several other styles. Her title “First of Many” refers to her creation of the oldest profession; she is the patron of all who follow it and shows great disfavour to any who would abuse or exploit those under her purview. It is said that she can seduce any man, even the gods and she appears as a slender woman with raven hair, emerald eyes and crimson lips wearing a gown spun of spider silk and darkness. The potent aphrodisiac known as the Spider’s kiss is also accredited to the Lady of Webs but it is known that she will never seriously attempt to seduce anyone who has found true love away from their partner, she will still engage in idle flirtation as it is part of who and what she is. In some ways she could be considered a patron of lovers and there are tales of her and the chosen of the Maiden of Serenity both aiding a woman in danger if they think that her situation happens to fall under both their auspices, it seems that the demon and the incarna get on, a thought to strike fear into the hearts of some men. The Lady of Webs’ gem is the opal.
There are many rumours surrounding the Lady of Webs, especially in the scholarly circles dedicated to the research of the demons. Her relationship to the little gods and the Incarna has come into question more than once although such conjecture rarely reaches a satisfactory conclusion. It is known that she is a great lover of debate and negotiation and it is a widely accepted fact that she negotiated the pacts protecting the Moon Shadow Caste of the Abyssal Exalted to the same effect as their Solar counterparts.
