Ryshassa Krauser

Now updated for SI rules! (Ryshy 3.0? ^^)

Artifacts - Including Ryshassa's iconic staff of healing and knowledge, the Caduceus Curatoris, as well as her lyre of orichalcum and silverwillow, with which she soothes and astonishes the hardest of hearts and harshest of critics.

Biography - More information about Ryshassa as a character: her physical appearance, her personality and her place in the world.

Charms - Ryshassa's custom Charms, created to bring her closer to her concept as an empathic healer and counselor of exceptional skill and surprising survivability.

History - A lengthy piece, written partly in pure description and partly in illustrative scenes, describing Ryshassa's past from her birth up until her entry into A Dance of Angels.

Manse - Ryshassa's Manse in the East, the Everblooming Cornucopia: a veritable celebration of life, warmth and healing marked by the pristine perfection of its myriad flora, forever exhibiting the vibrant colors and freshness of spring.

Regeneration Rate - A lil' exercise I did to figure out how long Ryshy would take to regenerate if she was injured down to Incapacitated. Important in calculating how long it takes for her to heal others, as well!

Anima: It begins with a shower of violet petals and the sound of a distant bell tolling. The deep, soulful tolling grows louder as the petals begin to swirl about her as if by an invisible wind. Finally the anima bursts into full glory, as gigantic butterfly wings hued in vibrant shades of amethyst, sapphire, emerald and topaz unfurl from behind her, radiating colored light much like a stained glass window lit up by the awe-inspiring brilliance of the Unconquered Sun.

Ryshassa received primary school education in the Realm, as she was born to a Dynastic House. Therefore she starts with the basic skills of anyone who graduated from such vigorous education (from the DB book: Archery 1, Brawl or Martial Arts 1, Melee 1, Performance 1, Presence 1, Ride 1, Lore 2 and Socialize 2). The rest of her ability points come from the normal Solar character creation (25 points), bonus points and experience points.

Ryshassa's skill in Melee and (to some extent) Martial Arts came about much more recently, due to extensive training with Alexsei for the purpose of defense. She HAS been taught the theories of launching an offense, in order to better defend against it, but her aversion to causing physical harm to others makes it difficult for her to strike (see Pacifist flaw).

Ryshassa had few resources left to her after fleeing from the Realm with her Sidereal caretaker and beloved, Alexsei Krauser. Whatever she owns or has access to that is in excess of these backgrounds is provided by Alexsei and his superior resources.

Ryshassa employs a method of healing in which she transfers the wounds and ailments of others onto her own body, then heals herself of the damage. Because this method requires her to have a high stamina and high threshold for pain, she has become adept at charms that allow her to resist injury or prevent it altogether. In addition, her empathic abilities allow her to sense the emotions of others and even affect their emotions to some extent.

Virtue Flaw: Sympathetic Agony. Ryshassa is unable to bear the sight of innocents suffering from extreme injury, torture or disease without being able to touch them and soothe their pain. If she is somehow prevented from going to them, if they are too many for her to effectively heal alone, or if she is otherwise prevented from offering them adequate care, she will be filled with unbearable guilt and helplessness. In the case that she is able to establish physical contact with the sufferers, she will attempt to transfer their wounds onto her body without consideration for her own health until her Essence and/or Willpower are spent, or until she runs out of health levels to transfer (in which case she may be in danger of dying -- not a good time for her to be alone!) On the other hand, if she cannot reach the sufferers by any means, she will go into a frenzy of weeping and self-injury, slicing or bruising her skin with whatever weapon is at hand, clawing herself with her bare hands, even taunting others (perhaps the innocents' torturer, if there is one) to harm her. If she is restrained at this point, she will struggle violently until she is knocked unconscious or compelled by magical means to stop.
