Thus...\\ Daiklaive: Artifact Level 2\\ Start with Straight Sword (9 points total)\\ Add 8 points (2 levels of Artifact)\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Add Gift (Easier Construction)\\ Difficulty to Craft: 16

According to your rules page the Easier Construction feature lowers the craft difficulty by 4, according to my math that means the daiklave should be set at 13. Am I missing something? - Malikai

From the Bo3C, it takes 20 successes to make a Level 2 Artifact. Easier construction reduces that number by 4, so it would only take 16 successes to make a Daiklaive. DS

Ohhhhh okay, I was working from the point value of the item under your system - Malikai

Reaver Daiklaive: Artifact Level 2\\ Start with Chopping Sword (10)\\ Add 8 points (2 levels of Artifact)\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Add Gift (Terrifying Might; +2 Points)\\ Difficulty to Craft: 20

Grand Daiklaive: Artifact Level 3\\ Start with Great Sword (15) Add 11 points (3 levels of Artifact; note 1 not spent, reduces difficulty by 1)\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Difficulty to Craft: 29

Goremaul: Artifact Level 1\\ Start with Hammer (10)\\ Add 5 points (1 Level of Artifact)\\ Goremaul final point value: 15\\ Add Gift (Hearthstone Slot)\\ Difficulty to Construct: 10

---

Reborn Glacial Rain: Artifact Level 3 (CB: Zenith 80)\\ Start with Knife (1)\\ Add 11 points (3 levels of Artifact)\\ Final value of Glacial Rain: 21\\ Gift: Hearthstone Slot\\ Gift: Efficent\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+2 to Survival checks in polar conditions)\\ Reborn Glacial Rain cannot be fully recreated in this system.

---

Flying Silver Dream: Artifact Level 4 (CB: Zenith 81)\\ Start with Straight Sword (9)\\ Add 14 points (4 levels of Artifact)\\ Final value of Flying Silver Dream: 32\\ Gift: Hearthstone Slot\\ Gift: Major Ability (Fight Indepently, costs 2 gifts)\\ Gift: Efficent\\ Gift: Efficent\\ Gift: Minor Ability; Solars can gain the Moonsilver bonus with normal attunment. (This gift is conjured from pure thin air)\\ Flying Silver Dream cannot be fully recreated in this system.

Hm. This is mildly distressing. DS

Hooked Daiklaives of Dual Prowess: Artifact Level 4 (CB: Night 81)\\ Start with Hooked Swords (7)\\ Add 14 points (4 levels of Artifact)\\ Final value of Daiklaives of Dual Prowess: 20; saves a point on the difficulty of construction\\ Gift: Hearthstone Slot\\ Gift: Hearthstone Slot\\ Gift: Major Ability (Fight Indepently, costs 2 gifts)\\ Gift: Efficent\\ Difficulty to Construct: 39

Seven Jeweled Peacock Fans: Artifact Level 2 (CB: Eclipse 80)\\ Start with Wind Fire Wheels (-2)\\ Add 8 points (2 levels of Artifact)\\ Final Value of Jeweled Peacock Fans: 2; saves 4 points\\ Add Gift: Efficent\\ Add Gift: Simple Construction\\ Add Gift (with 3 points): Simple Constructoin\\ Difficulty to construct: 7

Wow. Way underpowered. WAY underpowered. These need either mucho better stats, a special ability of some sort, or to be knocked to level 1. DS

It's generally agreed that the Seven-Jeweled Peacock Fans are highly inferior. - willows

I'd feel better hearing how it's generally agreed that Reborn Glacial Ruin and Flying Silver Dream are generally considered broken :) DS

Reaper Daiklaive: Artifact Level 2 (The Outcaste 51)\\ Start with Slashing Sword (8)\\ Add 8 points (2 levels of Artifact)\\ Final Value of Reaper Daiklaive: 19\\ Gift: Terrifying Might (+2 points)\\ Gift: Terrifying Might (+2 points)\\ Difficulty to Construct: 19 (1 point saved)\\

I do a bit of mental self-trickery here; the Reaper doesn't /mention/ having a Hearthstone Slot, so I treat it like it doesn't. Which makes everything come out roses :) DS

ARMOR

Ashigaru Battle Armor: Level 2 Artifact, based on Breastplate (Light Armor).\\ 9 points, 3 Gifts\\ +3L (6)\\ +4B (4)\\ Gift: Mortal Attunment\\ Gift: Minor Ability (Darkvision, +2 Awareness)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (Disease Resistance for an hour, +2 Resistance against posion and disease)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+2 Stealth when moving, +3 when stationary)\\ Flaw: Inefficent (Requires 4 motes; +1 point)\\ Flaw: Repair 1 (+2 points)\\ Flaw: 150 opertional hours (+2 points)\\ Difficulty to construct: 18

Hm. I'm unsure as to how many bonus points, if any, Repair should provide. My gut instinct is 1 or 2 points per level of Repair. This would account for the slight deficiency in points, but the Ashigaru are still short a Gift. That, and my Mortal Aging is much worse. DS

Alright. Let's try this- I'm making a new category, seperate from Gifts, called Extras. Extras are out and out flaws. That gets rid of Inefficent always seeming like an insane choice; I'm reducing it to 2 points instead of 3 now as well. It all seems to work out with the Ahsigaru Armor. DS

Gunzhosha Combat Armor: Level 3 Artifact, based on ???.\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+4 Stealth)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (x2 Ground speed)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+2 Resistance)\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 to all attacks and parries)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (Regen 1 Bashing HL per turn)\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 Strength)\\ Gift: Mortal Attunable

That's 8 Gifts- and arguably, some are and some aren't Minor or Major Abilities, but in any case. EIGHT.\\ Once again, Repair is not taken into account. Nor is the special surgery to implant and remove the amulets. But even so. EIGHT.\\ A level 3 Artifact should have, at most, 7 Gifts. And that's a Light Armor that doesn't do anything but Gift voraciously. This should probally be a Heavy Armor that sinks all it's points into Gifts (Meaning you'd just start with the Aticulated Plate for the base, and then add 4 Gifts to it)\\ Something is deeply foobar about the Gunzosha Armor, methinks. Possibly, Minor Ability is overpriced; it should perhaps grant back 1 point (functionally decreasing the cost of that Gift to 2 points). Ditto Major Ability (functionaly decreasing it to 5 points). That would mean the that the GCA, bought as Articulated Plate and with a level of Inefficent, would have 1 Gift and 10 points to start with. Buy a Major Ability; that's 1 Gift and 5 points. Buy a second Major Ability; down to 1 Gift. Buy a Minor Ability; down to 1 point. Allow for buiing all remaining Minor Abilities at 2 points, and the one normal gift at 3. That leaves a deficit of 9 points to be filled by the armor's deficits. Something just ain't right here. DS

Gunzhosha Combat Armor (Take 2): Level 3 Artifact, based on Articulated Plate\\ 7 points, 2 Gifts\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 Strength)\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 to all attacks and parries)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+4 Stealth)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (x2 Ground speed)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+2 Resistance)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (Regen 1 Bashing HL per turn)\\ Gift: Mortal Attunable\\ Flaw: Inefficent (requires 5 motes; +2 points)\\ Flaw: Repair 2 (+2 points)\\ Flaw: 100 Operational hours (+2 points)\\ Flaw: Standard Implant Difficulty (+2 points)

Hm. It's demonstrably more efficent to take the heaviest armor you can for maximum soak-gift benefits, so I can't really gain any more ground by shifting to a lower 'weight class' of armor'. However, I'm still coming up 2 Gifts short. I don't see what can be stretched for more points... hm. I'm approaching my 'This isn't balanced with the rest of the stuff in Exalted' level again. Can Gunzosha Armor be made under the original system? DS

Gunzhosha Combat Armor (Take 3): Level 3 Artifact, based on Articulated Plate\\ 7 points, 2 Gifts\\ (It's all going to Gifts, so that's 18 / 3 is +6 Gifts)\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 Strength)\\ Gift (x2): Major Ability (+2 to all attacks and parries)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+4 Stealth)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (x2 Ground speed)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (+2 Resistance)\\ Gift: Minor Ability (Regen 1 Bashing HL per turn)\\ Gift: Mortal Attunable\\ Flaw: Inefficent (requires 5 motes; +2 points)\\ Flaw: Repair 2 (+4 points)\\ Flaw: 100 Operational hours (+3 points)\\ Flaw: Standard Implant Difficulty (+2 points)

ARGH! So close! DS
