Items that are bought on a dot for dot ratio should grant a bonus of no more that 3 per 2 ticks. Any other item should grant a bonus of no greater value than 2 per 2 ticks. Martial arts weapons or weapons that allow you to make attacks with non dawn caste abilities should give a bonus no more than 1/2 the rating of other weapons. The following formulae give you the basics of weapon creation.

S is speed, R is rate, D is defense and A is Accuracy, B is the rating of the equipment

S > 5 , 8 > R > 0 , D < 15 , -4 < A < 4

Any imbalance in the weapon formalae can be corrected by the the defense rating of the weapon multipled or divided by the cost in ticks to defend.

A weapon of artifact quality should have an overwhelming of 2/3's of its damage. Other weapons have an overwhelming of 50% of its damage. Overwhelming is calculated from final damage. Bashing weapons do 50% more damage calculated from the value used in the equations above. Piercing weapons do 66% damage calculated from final damage. Two handed weapons do 33% more damage calculated from formulaic values. 1 handed Weapons gain 1 accuracy and defense. Light weapons receive a 33% increase in rate.

notes: after much debate and discussion my players and I have determined that exalted for us is about customization. Which is one of the reason that we do not use the printed weapons. Many have no change in play style from one to the next and the rest our either underpowered or broken. I had attempted to print an exhaustive source of weapons for my players to pick and chose from balancing everything ever so slightly, however I found that I was constantly making new weapons. The above formulae give my players free reign to created varied and balance weapons. As one final not when using this house rule the bonus for oricalcum changes to -1S +1A +1d -1t
