Linguistics Charms

The theme for this charm tree is poetry. The Tree isn't yet complete; please tell me what you think, and I'll start working on the remaining Charms.

False Understanding / Grows Like Spring Nettle In Those / Speaking In Haiku

  • Cost: 3 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Linguistics: 2
  • Minimum Essence: 2
  • Prerequisites: None

Expressing his intent solely in haiku, the Infernal gives across an impression of worldly wisdom that assuages the concerns of those about him. By using this Charm and making a Charisma + Linguistics roll as he voices his arguments so, he can make them pass accepted to all whose Essence does not exceed his number of successes; while others may produce competing arguments, none would dare refute his own.

I Once Came Across A Celestial Exalt / Who Lived In The Time Of Tumult / When Asked How He Prospered / In The Madness He Fostered / He Replied 'Blazing Solar Bolt'

  • Cost: 8 motes
  • Duration: Instant
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Linguistics: 4
  • Minimum Essence: 3
  • Prerequisites: False Understanding / Grows Like Spring Nettle In Those / Speaking In Haiku

With the activation of this Charm and a suitably taunting limerick, an Infernal baits at the inner sensibilities of Exalted. He makes a Manipulation + Linguistics roll, subtracting the successes from his target's Limit maximum for the remainder of this scene. Should this bring their Limit above their maximum, they Limit Break immediately.

Feeling Obsidian Blades / Cutting My Skin / Blood Like Oil Runs Down My Wrists / Making Me Dirty / How I Remain / Forever

  • Cost: 5 motes
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Linguistics: 3
  • Minimum Essence: 3
  • Prerequisites: False Understanding / Grows Like Spring Nettle In Those / Speaking In Haiku

Carving their way away from the world in disdainful words, the Infernal isolates himself from all others. He makes a Perception + Linguistics roll. For anyone to pay him due attention or even recognise his presence, they must first succeed at a Conviction + Awareness roll at a difficulty equal to the successes scored. If the Infernal intervenes directly by attacking or otherwise interacting with anyone else, the Charm immedicately ends.

Shall I Compare Thee To The Glories Of The Fey? / Beautiful As Sin And A Bloody Good Lay

  • Cost: 6 motes, 1 Willpower
  • Duration: One scene
  • Type: Simple
  • Minimum Linguistics: 4
  • Minimum Essence: 4
  • Prerequisites: Feeling Obsidian Blades / Cutting My Skin / Blood Like Oil Runs Down My Wrists / Making Me Dirty / How I Remain / Forever, I Once Came Across A Celestial Exalt / Who Lived In The Time Of Tumult / When Asked How He Prospered / In The Madness He Fostered / He Replied 'Blazing Solar Bolt'

Expressing a melancholy and romanticism far beyond what anyone would expect, the Infernal makes an Appearance + Linguistics roll. Anyone with an Essence lower than the number of successes scored must fail a Compassion roll to avoid being smitten by them. Attacking the Infernal if so affected requires a point of temporary Willpower and a successful Conviction roll to avoid being paralysed by their feelings; if this roll fails, the action is wasted.
