Solar Awareness Charms by NailRat

Distant Guard Post Method

Cost: 12 motes
Duration: Until Released
Type: Simple
Minimum Awareness: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Owl-Eye Technique, Barrier-Bypassing Senses

The character plants a carbon copy of his senses in a location and then walks away, going about his business. This allows him to keep watch over an area of radius equal to his Essence in yards, no matter how far he goes away. He has the ability to hear, smell, and see anything that happens within this area. This is used by many Solars to keep a watch over their homes while they are gone – or to plant a method of spying on enemies.

All-Seeing Eye of the Sun

Cost: 30 motes, 2 Willpower
Duration: One Day
Type: Simple
Minimum Awareness: 5
Minimum Essence: 5
Prerequisite Charms: Distant Guard Post Method

This Charm allows the Solar to keep a watchful eye over his subjects. While this Charm is active, he has complete sensory knowledge of what is occurring within a number of miles equal to Essence. He only has normal sensory information; magical effects can easily hide from the discerning eye of the Solar.

Razor-Honed Battle Senses Technique

Cost: 2 motes per point of initiative
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Awareness: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Surprise Anticipation Method

The Solar possesses the ability to, when danger strikes, move quicker than her opponent. For every two motes spent on this Charm, the Solar gains a bonus of 1 to her initiative rolls for the scene, to a maximum of her Perception + Awareness. This Charm must be used within the first 2 rounds of an unanticipated encounter.

Reflex-Strengthening Paranoia Prana

Cost: 3 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Awareness: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Razor-Honed Battle Senses Technique

Anticipating that danger may lie around the corner, the Solar attunes himself to his surroundings to the utmost degree, becoming capable of incredibly fast reactions. If, before the end of the scene, the Solar is surprised in any way, he may take a Simple action as a Reflexive action. That is, he essentially beats whoever was surprising him on initiative – on the turn he was surprised.

Perfect Meditation of Battle Readiness

Cost: 15 motes, 2 Willpower
Duration: One Turn
Type: Reflexive
Minimum Awareness: 5
Minimum Essence: 5
Prerequisite Charms: Reflex-Strengthening Paranoia Prana

The character’s senses are honed that she can predict danger long before it occurs. This Charm reflects the Solar’s ability to have predicted a seemingly unpredictable attack long in advance. On the turn the Solar activates this Charm, the Solar gains three Independent actions in place of a normal Simple action. This Charm may only be used during the first round of an unanticipated combat.

Comments

Distant Guard Post Method: Good Charm. Can you have more than one Guard Post up at a time?\\ All-Seeing Eye of the Sun: This is kind of funky; does the Solar have any problems processing the sensory information? Imagine using this in a big city like Nexus; you have a million people doing a million different things. There should either be sensory overload issues, or (preferably) a requirement to make some kind of Wits roll to pin down specific information in the rush of sensory impressions.\\ Razor-Honed Battle Senses Technique: I'm not sure how this stacks up against Lunar and Sidereal equivalents, but on the surface, it looks a little weak. Why the two-turn limit?\\ Reflex-Strengthening Paranoia Prana: How does this stack up against Thunderclap Rush Attack? I'd be more inclined to make this a Reflexive Charm of Instant duration, and simplify the language; there's no need for the "Simple/Reflexive" action stuff. Just say that you're superseding the attacker's initiative, which you already say. Perfect Meditation of Battle Readiness: You should include either an explanation of independent actions, or point to someplace that provides an explanation (like Charcoal March of Spiders Form). - Quendalon
