Abyssal Craft Charms

by haren

Surgery's Veiled Suture
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Craft: 4
Min. Medicine: 3
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: Bone Graft Technique

With a simple expenditure of essence, the Abyssal can infuse sutured wounds with a surge of essence, forcing them closed. This does not heal the underlying wound, only forces the appearance deeper. If anything, it causes difficulties since the wound may still open, and be unable to be bound since the bleeding is purely internal. The actual fabric of the suture disappears with the use of the Charm. This can force all the sutures on one person (or body) closed. This also works on corpses, and some Necromancers develop it for specialized zombies.

Constituent Suppression Formula
Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Min. Craft: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: (Material) Withering Method

Abyssals have seen the "living" nature of objects in the process of soulforging. They know that all objects can be looked at in a similar manner. Hands wreathed in necrotic essence capable of shaping an object, and with their grand and terrible presence, they can craft without tools or workshop. Since their greatest techniques are based in tempting, intimidating, and torturing the materials, they always roll Manipulation + Craft while using this Charm. In effect, a day's worth of crafting can be performed in a single scene. It should be noted that this Charm can be used with soulforging, though according to one observer, it is disturbing to watch as a ghost's self image is broken down, and in some cases, many are forced to think of themselves as one, rather than individuals.

Flawed Repair System
Cost: 8 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Craft: 4
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: (Material) Withering Method

With care and work and this Charm, an Abyssal can introduce a flaw into an object that will not appear under any simply mortal examinations. The flaw will not break under any circumstances but one, which the Abyssal names at the time they enact this Charm. The Abyssal must examine and work with the object, fixing and repairing it. This must take at least a minimum of an hour, for objects as simple as a sword (which would be oiling, polishing, and sharpening it). The Abyssal who used the Charm can initiate the flaw to happen at any time it is within his sight, by spending for the Charm again and a Willpower. It can not affect an object made of the Five Magical Materials or reinforced with them, or one larger than the Abyssal. The flaw lasts in the object until activated, but afterwards it will not work again... since most likely will have to be replaced. But, it can affect smaller things that are part of the greater object (not a chariot, but yes to a wheel). Also, each object can only have one use of the Charm at once, but multiple parts of the same object can all be affected seperately. Lastly, the flaw's situational trigger can be the activation of another flaw nearby.

Death's Solid Soldier
Cost: 15 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Min. Craft: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Decay Resistance Preparation, Wyld Shield Meditation

Though not always needed, sometimes the Fae attack the forces of the dead. With the use of this Charm, a necromancer may reinforce the strength of their undead retainers and warriors. It allows them to alter the nature of the death energies animating the target undead (one per use). In effect, this grants that undead protection equal to Wyld Shield Meditation until destroyed. As they are already dead and it is death energy that sustains their animation, they do not suffer the bashing damage.

I very much like Flawed Repair System-HeWhoSpeaksOfDarkness

Thanks ^_^ So you know, you might like this one too, though I technically made it for ExMod ExMod/ModernAbyssalCraft - haren

Just a thought, but on Death's Solid Soldier, you might want to stipulate that it's Crafts(Necrosurgery). Being good at, say, woodworking shouldn't help you make your ghouls buffer. Depends on how strict you want to be with the Craft definitions, though. :) - Ashande

Well, I figure that's sort of obvious, but then again... it's just extending a certain effect you understand onto a particular kind of object. I don't have to know how to carve something to paint it, just know what color I want and how to paint. ^_^ Also, as you mentioned, not everyone is so rigid with Crafts. But thank you. - haren
