Artifact •••••

Anset was one of the souls of the Ta’akozoka, the Great Tentacled One. A great giant he strode amongst the northern glacies. When the Primordial War began he came down from the north and took to the field of battle with his fabled spear. At 60 feet long and forged of imperishable ice and blue jade a sweep of that spear could fell dozens at a time. Aset while a capable warrior was a mighty hunter, a master of the northern glaciers and tunder and his own giant size no obstacle to him moving unseen and unheard before falling upon the Exalted. Yet it was not the Lunars or Solars or even the Sidereals who eventually caught and slew him. His prey was the weaker Exalted, the Dragonblooded and he would avoid their leaders. Yet they were many and where there are many they are strong. A wing of them, suited in armor gifted to them from the Mountain Folk struck at him at his hidden lair while he rested and slew him with charms to ensure he would never reform.

The gaint demons great spear was carried away and gifted to the Twilight who they served as a Gens. For the rest of the war it simply languished. It was only after the war that their master turned his attention to the weapon. Rather then break it down or just keep it as a trophy he set to his abilities as a Twilight and improved some of the latent powers within it. That, combined with certain charms developed in the war by the Dawn Caste and during the 50th year of rule by Queen Merala, when he had accepted the offer to join her kingdom, he brought it out during an arena battle to shock and impress his peers. Though a Twilight, the northern warfare and rugged life there had made him strong. It is said he stunned the Hundred Fist Master with the weapons appearance and then as the swealtering jungle arena grew chill as the weapon remain stuck where it had landed the two fought in hand to hand battle each using a custom martial art that they had devised during the Primordial War. Iron Swept Windmill style brought from the north against the the Hundred Fist Master's own Hundred Fist style.

For many many years a single throw of this spear was often used to announce the start of battle or a charge. Enough so that the practice seeped into the local northern cultures and the Winter Folk. Though disasters have dulled memories in the north the tradition lives on especially amongst the Warrior Raksha who will throw a spear to impale the ground at your feet to begin a challenge of arms or to mark their intent to conquer you in one form or another.

The weapon now remains locked away in one of the hidden tombs of the Exalted in the North. Uka the Boar has found the tomb and though he has not chosen to disrespect the dead and break it open to loot the idea has occured to him at times. Solars in the north, who may have the claim to the weapon through reincarnation may be offered such information in trade. Then they can choose wether the weapon is theirs by right or just have the arrogance to rob the dead.

Though nigh impossible to properly wield in combat for any being with the right size the weapon has changed since it changed owners. Some of its power was derived from Anset and with his destruction was diminished. New things have been worked into it by the Twilight who claimed it. The weapon has three main powers.

The first is that it can be thrown even by a regular sized Exalt. It has no special ability to be carried however so the the ones who have claimed it would store it in Elsewhere, only to summon it and hurl at their foes. Against any target smaller than a building the weapon subtracts 3 successes from the attack roll and counts as having a -3 Accuracy instead of its normal stats. The weapon also suffers this penalty making attacks on individual targets if one could somehow wield it as a melee weapon.

The second power is that it is a chilly weapon. The air grows cold as the north around it. This is not seriously dangerous unless one were to be so foolish as to sleep beside it unprepared. This can create some frosting, air puffs, maybe even a touch of light snow but should never be a real factor in combat. Just an effect or perhaps a danger if one has to spend a great deal of time unprotected nearby it.

The final use costs 10m on its users part. It draws in raw elemental Air essence and then the next thing it strikes will freeze. This affects any structure up to the size of a large palace. Anything so frozen is supernaturally brittle, reducing soaks to 1L/1B. The weapon reduces the structures soak first before applying damage almost ensuring complete destruction of what it strikes. Living creatures within 5 yards of the impact zone count as having suffered an unblockable attack as the wave of cold hits them. This kills by freezing those who do not avoid the attack and do not have an appropriate cold immunity charm or effect guarding them. Used in this manner the weapon can make pinpoint strikes when thrown and does not suffer the penalty to attack individual targets. This freezing lasts for a scene.

Though the weapon incorporates Jade in its making it doesn't make a significant amount of the weapon to provide any material bonus. The advantage of this is that anyone can attune it at its regular cost.
