Lokadvara - The Key of Heaven
Level Five Starmetal Dire Lance

Made in the High First Age, Lokadvara was created by a Harbinger who wanted a quicker way to get across Creation for those times that you need to be somewhere NOW. It appears to be a starmetal staff with five gems (a topaz, a sapphire, a ruby, an emerald and an amethyst) on the shaft, as well as a hearthstone socket near the end, which is rounded with two slits in the top crossing each other. The wielder can call forth a point of Essence from the top with a miscellaneous action, turning it into a proper spear. Its true power, though, rests in the gems in the shaft.

With an hour-long ritual, the wielder may attune the staff to any of the 61 Heavenly Gates located around Creation. The staff may be attuned to five gates, each tied to one of the gems. Once attuned, the wielder may teleport himself and up to one other person to any gate that has been attuned. This is done by spending 5 motes and pressing the gem corresponding to the destination gate. A set of seven starmetal rings surround the wielder (and his companion, if any), then shoot upward with a flash of blue light five ticks later; when it fades, they are nowhere to be seen.

This staff is considered the property of the Golden Baroque of the Heavens; thus it is very rare to see it in the hands of anyone other than a Harbinger. The Baroque is VERY serious about keeping the staff in the hands of the Bureau of Destiny. Due to an unfortunate incident involving a large amount of alcohol, a lack of Someone Else's Destiny and a poker game during the Carnival of Meeting, the staff ended up in the hands of a Changing Moon in the early Second Age. After retrieving it from the Lunar, who had caused much havoc by gate-jumping and causing at least two riots in the Heavenly City, the Sidereal who lost it was...taken care of, and his name was stricken from the records.
