History

There are some who would call Tepet Hideo a natural born soldier, and it would not be a stretch to consider that statement correct. His mother, Tepet Fubuki, is a winglord in the First Dragon. His father, Cathak Darmuk, was a winglord in the Fifth Dragon.His lineage of military greatness does not stop with winglords within Scarlet Haven's military, but can be traced even further back to great generals and warriors within both House Tepet and House Cathak.

Despite his parents’ duties and responsibilities, Hideo received a significant amount of personal attention from both of them. In addition to the training and schooling provided by Scarlet Haven, he was also personally tutored by his parents and their friends within the Legion. Hideo took well to his lessons, and tackled them with a precociousness and wisdom far beyond his young age. In fact, Hideo quickly earned the nickname “Little Grandpa” for the out of place maturity and serious attitude that was so out of place for a child his age. Obedient, diligent, and skilled, Hideo was hailed as a perfect child and brought a great amount of honor and joy to his parents. Hideo weathered the acclaim and praise with a humility that came to be a hallmark of his down to earth demeanor.

Hideo exalted at the young age of eleven. Fairfolk had actually managed to break into the compound during a prolonged assault, and thought the majority of their forces were held at bay, some of their least servants were able to sneak past the overwhelmed defenders and into the less protected areas of the settlement. One such group of goblins was able to overcome the defenders of one of the residential barracks and though their numbers were decimated during the initial break in, the survivors were left to hunt freely amongst the young and infirm. Once wind of the situation got to him, Hideo, as he had been trained to do took charge of the situation and began organizing what defense he could with the other youths at his disposal. Able to rally them past their fears he was able to briefly distract the goblins. Though the youths were terribly outclassed, Hideo led them wth vigor and while engaging them exalted. His exaltation, along with the fortuitous arrival of some soldiers, prevented the goblins from killing any of the youths under Hideo’s command, although Hideo was severely injured in the process.

Now a chosen of the Dragons, Hideo ramped up his own training regimen and was immediately offered a position of command within the Second Dragon once he finished his formal schooling. His level headedness and maturity have left him with a good sense of when to lead from the front and when to delegate. Those who have worked with him recognize his knowledge and prowess and he is afforded a degree of respect normally held for those with more age and experience.

His meteoric rise and acclaim has had some negative repercussions. Despite his mature attitude, Hideo is still very young and possessed of a youthful naiveté that he will only be able to do away with through experience. In addition, Hideo has managed to earn the envy and resentment of those who feel he is only doing so well because his parents were pulling strings. Perhaps the greatest of these detractors is Sesus Valynx, a talonlord in the Second Dragon. Valynx is a competent commander and strongly in Sesus Maddar’s camp. He feels insulted over the amount of attention Hideo is getting, and that a ‘lucky’ kid is getting accolades and rewards better suited for his elders and betters. Some speculate that Valynx feels so strongly because he is secretly intimidated by the competent Tepet and fears that the youth will surpass him within the ranks. No one will say it to his face, however.

Though he has weathered the recent Wyld quake with the same steadfastness that he has everything else in his life, it has greatly affected him. Unfortunately his father became hideously ill, and was unable to adequately recover, which has forced him to resign from active service. Coming from a school of thinking that teaches that reaction is the most surefire way to lose a conflict, Hideo wants to take a step in a proactive direction and has volunteered to lead the exploratory group and is even willing to forfeit his command to do so.

Appearance

Hideo has an imposing and athletic build. His features are stern and strong and he radiates command and competence from his piercing orange eyes. His hair is pale blue at the roots and gradually brightens into a shocking orange near the tips, although these days he wears it cropped short enough that orange does not manifest. While he is certainly capable of relaxing and enjoying himself, he has earned a reptutation for having an even head and an unperturbale demeanor. Some say he is like the embers and coals at the heart of a fire, burning with a quiet, intense heat. The same are curious to see just what sort of blaze will result once something finally manages to disturb those embers.
