Sureshot’s Providence
Artifact Level ~ 5
Commitment ~ 10 motes

Sureshot’s Providence is a suit of Orichalcum powered armor designed and used by the Dawn caste Reynard Greytalon. Greytalon was considered to be one the leading artillerists and ordinance specialists of his generation and many of his designs were aimed at advancing those fields. The armor is effectively a heavily modified Celestial Battle Armor variant. Greytalon originally created it to serve as a template from which he later derived his Fusillade and Sharpshooter class armor designs. He was so pleased with the result that he tuned and advanced the prototype into something he would personally wear into battle

Sureshot’s Providence is constructed largely from Orichalcum. The armor has soft, curving lines that give it a sleek, organic appearance, which visually detracts from its bulk and mass. Red jade is inlaid in appealing whorls across the entire suit and serves as the focusing emitter for the Integrated Essence Projection Array. The faceplate of the helm is crafted from blue jade with a starmetal filigree. These, combined with internal green jade components, make up the modified Essence Lenses and Advanced Targeting Matrix. Like most powered armors, Sureshot’s Providence provides a number of features and benefits beyond simple protection. Greytalon kept the filtration baffles (+2 resistance to resist poison and disease, 2 hours of clean air) and movement enhancing systems (double movement and triple dash) common to most variants. He then proceeded to add a number of his own systems:

Essence Lenses
In addition to granting the wearer uninhibited sight in almost any situation, Greytalon’s modifications boost the wearer’s perception by one, grant a further +2 dice to all vision based perception rolls, provide a 300 degree field of vision, and allow for telescopic sight granting an effective 3 mile range of vision. The lenses require 2 motes an hour to function or the dedication of 1 level of hearthstone power. The Lenses can also interface with a Dragonfly’s Ranging Eye (see WotLA) if the wearer happens to possess one.
Advanced Targeting Matrix
Starmetal and Green Jade assist the wearer to keep track of targets, calculate ranges, lead shots, and steady the hands, thus improving the overall accuracy of ranged attacks. Increase the accuracy of all such attacks by 2 and reduce any external and internal penalties by 3. The Matrix requires 4 motes an hour to function or the dedication of 2 levels of hearthstone power.
Integrated Essence Projection Array
The Array allows the wearer to fire beams of essence from any surface of the suit. This is a ranged attack and draws its essence directly from the hearstone powering the armor. If the Targeting Matrix is active and the armor is being powered by a level 4 hearthstone or greater, then it may fire a single shot on its own every five ticks. Sureshot’s Providence has a die pool of 10 + (the wearer’s essence).
Distortion Shield
The Integrated Essence Array is also used to project a field that breaks up and distorts the wearer’s silhouette into a cloud of shining golden motes. While this renders stealth impossible, it provides an external penalty of 3 to ranged attacks and 1 to melee attacks targeting the wearer. This is an Illusion effect. It requires 4 motes an hour or 2 levels of dedicated hearthstone power.
Essence Management and Harmonization System
The EMHS is the crown jewel of Greytalon’s Design. Comprised of five hearthstone sockets (one on each shouler, the back of each hand, and at the base of the throat) and an essence capacitance system, the EMHS allows for unparalleled versatility in the use of essence powered devices. One of the hearthstones is always devoted to powering Sureshot’s Providence. The capacitance system provides 5/10/15(level 3/4/5 hearthstone powering the armor) motes that can be used to attune or power artifacts. The harmonization system reduces the time needed to attune an artifact (to a 6/-4 miscellaneous action). It does not however reduce the surcharge for attempting to harmonize with Magical Materials of a different type. If artifacts require additional power from hearthstones, the EMHS allows the wearer to provide that power from any of the four other hearthstones set into the armor. If any hearthstone is used in such a fashion, even if only for a fraction of its power, it ceases to provide any other benefits. A side benefit of this system is that the armor’s own systems can also draw power from it as noted above in the individual feature descriptions. The wearer can reflexively (a 0/-1 miscellaneous action) reassign which hearthstones are powering which systems or artifacts.
