I've tried to discuss this on other forums before. I've only really been able to find Amber fans in the WW forums though. Most people believe that the characters from the Amber novels would be best portrayed as gods or primordials. The Pattern of Amber would be located deep within the Imperial Mountain. The Primal Pattern would most likely be inside the Jade Pleasure Dome. The Logrus would either be within the Labyrinth or Deep Wyld... or both. The Unicorn and Serpent would be primordials of some sort. And the characters themselves would be gods or Fair Folk. What I'm looking for is perhaps similar parallels for locations but I would like to try to draw parallels to the characters as playable NPCs. Or at least, First Age Exalts.

You know, I'm not a huge fan overall of Exalted: The Fair Folk, but it could probably be used to run a kickass Amber game set entirely in the Wyld with Shaping combat being used to reflect Shadow. - szilard

If you want there to be a substantial difference between the Courts and Amber, I'd make the Lords of Chaos Raksha while the family of Amber are Solars with the Wyld-Shaping Charm. That allows for the Amberites to retain their flavour of "Humans, writ really, really large," and still have significant power over Shadow. Oberon would probably be Essence 6-7, Dworkin Essence 9, and the rest of the family at 5 or less; while they'd be old enough to be higher, exceeding those values would probably throw off the balance between them and the Courts too much.
Alternately, it's possible to make everything completely with canon rules, requiring no fudging whatsoever, if Dworkin is the only true Solar Exalt. He (clearly a Twilight) uses the Celestial Circle spell The Spawning of Monsters to create Oberon, probably with one of the local raksha; his Essence essentially dwarfs the raksha's, granting the offspring the power of a Solar with a few supernatural abilities. Oberon, in turn, uses The Spawning of Monsters with a number of wives, either raksha or beings shaped from the Wyld, to get the other offspring. This neatly avoids the issue of seemingly hereditary Solar Exaltations. The fourth generation, that of Merlin and Martin, is clearly weaker; this is because they are high-Inheritance Golden Children, not magically bred pseudo-Exalts.
I'm not entirely sure that Merlin would be considered "weaker" in any sense as compared to his father. I mean, we do see him perform a heck of a lot of Chaos magic. Though is has been suggested in the books that there might be a Pattern equivalent. To further support my disbelief of Merlin being weaker than the previous generation, he is in fact attuned to the Pattern, the Logrus, the Jewel of Judgement, and Corwin's Pattern. He has both sides flowing within him. Something that no one else, be it of Amber or of Chaos, has ever been able to do before. Plus, he has Ghostwheel on his side, and it is attuned to both the Pattern and the Logrus as well! --AngelWick
In this scenario, the Pattern would be a Desire Circle spell of glamour sorcery, using an Assumption of Dreams and Passion (the emotion of dedication) for its form and using all six Forging the [Grace] Grace Charms (including the Way) on anyone who successfully walked it; the Pattern remains the custodian of these Graces, rendering the Amberites invulnerable to vexation of their Graces. The Unicorn would be a behemoth of N/A rating, as would the Serpent; the Jewel of Judgement would be an Artifact of high value, granting the wielder the ability to forge any kind of raksha Artifact with the Solar Charm Wyld-Shaping Method. --Vargo Teras

You probably know that there's an Amber RPG, but I figured in case you didn't I'd just note it -- maybe it'd be a good place for inspiration. Also, I'm positive I remember reading something about an Amber conversion on the wiki previously -- try doing a search for "zelazny" (I'd do it, but the wiki-search function is weird for me for some reason).

In terms of the actual conversion ... I'm not sure I'm clear on what you're aiming for. How close a parallel are you trying to draw? What are the themes, feelings, characteristics you most want to preserve from the books, and which ones don't you care about? Are you aiming to stay closer to the Amber series itself, or to Exalted canon -- i.e., are you more willing to break Zelazny rules or Exalted rules?

I am aware of the diceless Amber RPG. In fact, I've been able to look through it on several occasions. Though I'm looking for a compromise between Zelazny's vision and Exalted. If one can even be met that is. I'd like to stay as close to Amber flavor as possible within the context of the Exalted setting. --AngelWick
