Artifacts

The Magnificent Sky Sapphire (Level 5 Artifact. 10 motes to attune. It produces two small gems, one of which fits into an earring, the other into a ring. Those who wear the two gems are linked--they can find their way to each other, given time, and know what state of health the other is in. The drawback is that once this link is established, if one dies, so does the other. Each also suffers any pain penalties the other feels. Removing the artifacts takes away their benefits, but not the link. Whoever wears the Earring gains these benefits: +4 to Dex, Sta, Str pools, +6 athletics, +6 dodge, +6 melee. She can fly for a scene at thrice running speed by burning 5 motes. Whoever wears the ring adds +4 to all Social attributes, and +6 to Presence, Socialize, and Bureaucracy. No one can wear both artifacts. Whoever wears the ring is treated as always having more Moe than the earring wearer, regardless of actual Moe. Arika has given the ring to her assigned noble: the now in exile Queen Mashiro of Windbloom)

Jade Otome Staff (7 motes, can change length to anywhere from a few inches to 40 feet long. Has an empty hearthstone mount. Spd 9, Acc 1, Dam 6B(5L), Def 2. So for her, it is Spd 21, Acc 22, Dam 13B(12L), Def 23)

Jade Reinforced Buff Jacket (Looks like a fancy formal dress, 3 motes, 7 Lethal, 10 Bashing, 1 Mobility)

Miscellaneous

  • Lethal Soak: 9
  • Bashing Soak: 13
  • Dodge: 19 dice ( 18 dice with armor)
  • Fatigue: 0
  • Mobility Penalty: -1
  • Health:
    • 1 –0
    • 4 –1
    • 4 –2
    • 1 –4
    • Incap.

Appearance

Arika is a spunky looking girl with long orange hair, usually tied up to look short, but with two prehensile hair 'antennae' which tend to move to reflect her emotions. She has bright blue eyes and usually looks like she's been freebasing sugar again. She typically wears her armor these days, as she's on the run... She is rather short, but looks as athletic as she is. She is only in her mid-teens.

Fetishes

So far, her status as a Holy Thief is her fetish, though her hair will likely be her next one.

Personality:

Arika is a fairly typically enthusiastic but fickle Holy Thief, flitting about with enthusiasm but no focus. She is a terrible student and hates studying; she'd much rather be playing sports or exploring the wilderness. She is strongly loyal to her friends, and is searching for her mother, who she knows was an otome. However, during her time in training, she was so easily distracted, she forgot to look into this...

That should tell you everything, really. She's not very bright AT ALL, but acts on physical and moral instinct. So far, being bad-ass has kept her alive, but it can't last forever...not unless she was a PC, anyway.

History:

Arika was raised by her grandmother in the wilderness of the South. Her grandmother claimed Arika's mother was an Otome who had been stationed in the South. Sadly, Arika never paid enough attention to learn her mother's name...

Despite this flakiness, she determined to go and become an Otome. Showing up in the Realm with her mother's artifact, the Magnificent Sky Sapphire, hidden in her possessions, she demanded to be made an Otome, even though she was not, in fact, Exalted. Her spunk impressed Otome Natsuki, head of the Gang, who allowed her to challenge one of the newest Otomes, Otome Nina, to a match. To everyone's surprise (except perhaps Natsuki), Arika exalted in the middle of the match.

Arika's first assignment, however, has gone south. The Queen she was supposed to guard, Queen Mashiro of Windbloom, has lost her kingdom to an attack from a neighboring kingdom, and now Arika is trying to find her. She has a huge crush on a local noble, Sergei Wong, but she doesn't know he's secretly a Bishonen. (Him being Otome Nina's adoptive father doesn't help either...) And there are people in the Realm who want to whack her and take her extremely potent artifact. Not to mention her mother's old enemies are at large.

Storyteller's Notes:

Arika is supremely twinked out; level 5 artifacts are like that. But with entire nations hunting her, she needs it. All her allies are fellow members of the Otome gang.

Comments:

Ring / earring mismatch - Arika is getting the bonuses stated for the earring, but the fluff says she's given that half to Mashiro... Thus, I suspect either which one gets which bonuses is wrong, or you've said she gave the wrong half away.

Fixed that problem, since I have seen the series this is based on I am pretty sure that the Otome whould have the earring and the protected noble should have the ring, albiet I have only seen the first half-dozen episodes but it fits my knowledge. - Blackedout

DOH! Yeah, Arika should have the Earring and MAshiro the ring. Thanks for the fix, guys! --JohnBiles
