Okay... so let's assume my 100 year old Essence 5 solar exalt buys this charm five times, seeking immunity from blades. He gets hardness 5. Hardness 5 is just enough to stop an average mortal with a knife, or a child with a sword. Competant extras will often break through, and elite extras almost never notice it's there.

 Minimum Resistance: 1
 Minimum Essence: 1
 Prerequisite Charms: None

The bodies of Solars are commonly subject to withstanding tidal flows of powerful Essence. Solars with this Charm have taken harness of this abundance and let it gather in their skin like a sponge, reinforcing their flesh forever more. This energy has the effect of giving the Solar's skin a subtle, glittering metallic sheen when his caste mark becomes visible, and also provides one of the following effects.

  • The Solar gains 2B oversoak, OR
  • The Solar gains 1L oversoak.

This Charm may be taken multiple times equal to the Exalt's permanent Essence. Its effects stack. Oversoak is not normal soak, and does not apply to reducing damage. Instead, it negates damage from attacks which have a raw damage that is equal to or lesser than the oversoak. In example, for a Solar that has taken 2L oversoak with this Charm, attacks doing 2L raw damage or less are harmlessly ineffectual. Please note that this Charm does not apply to damage that has already been reduced by a soak rating.

Got Balthasar?

Okay... so let's assume my 100 year old Essence 5 solar exalt buys this charm five times, seeking immunity from blades. He gets hardness 5. Hardness 5 is just enough to stop an average mortal with a knife, or a child with a sword. Competant extras will often break through, and elite extras almost never notice it's there.

It's a lot better with bashing soak... but I strongly suggest altering or perhaps removing the Lethal one, because right now, if an essence 5 exalt gets no use from it, an essence 3 one (average for playercharacters, I believe) certainly won't.

Joel is currently without internet access and even when he has it, he hasn't been able to get on the Wiki in a while since his workplace blocked the site. However, I do somewhat agree with your points here. I'd suggest, however, just making it Hardness 2 per purchase both for Lethal and Bashing. That lets you gain a moderate level of Hardness at Essence 3, and significantly more potent levels at higher Essence. Alternatively, just give some kind of flat Hardness per purchase and limit it to something other than Essence (three purchases total, maybe). -- CrownedSun
