Receiving the Missions

The missions are made available via the Bureau of Destiny. Recognizing the value of expanding its field operatives in the service of other bureaus and gods, the BoD allows for petitions to be made available to its staff. All staff has access to and the ability to accept these petitions, but in practice only younger Sidereals have the time or inclination to complete missions for others. Elder Sidereals are far too busy with their own machinations.


Each Mission has ratings attached to it from 1-5 stars:

Journeys: Difficulty/Distance traveling to target.

  • 1 star = Near a gate from Yu Shan,
  • 2 stars = more than a days travel from a gate and/or difficult terrain
  • 3 stars = You will likely desire magical means of traversing the distance (including a Chosen of Journey's anima) and/or some danger is to be expected.
  • 4 stars = Significant distance to the target AND danger/difficulty is to be expected along the way.
  • 5 stars = Multiple day trip and significant danger should be anticipated. Preperation will be key.


Serenity: The amount of social/political dealings necessary for completion of the mission.

  • 1 star = You might have to interact with a human being once before completing the mission.
  • 2 stars = The normal day to day interaction with people to maintain your cover will be required.
  • 3 stars = You will likely need to presuade someone to do something for you in order to achieve success on this mission.
  • 4 stars = You are likely to be involved in a great deal of intrigue in order to achieve success on this mission.
  • 5 stars = You will likely need to be moving behind the scenes and directing the social situation constantly to achieve success in this mission.

Battles: The anticipated amount of combat that will be required for completion of the mission.

  • 1 star = Unless you are using your sword to shave it is unlikely you will need to draw it.
  • 2 stars = Mortals may get in your way.
  • 3 stars = You are likely to encounter a situation where violence is called for.
  • 4 stars = Your mission is likely to require you to engage a worthy opponent in combat.
  • 5 stars = You are likely to be leading armies into battle, or facing multiple threats.

Secrets: The amount of occult/enigmas/secrets (weird stuff) that is likely to be encountered on the mission.

  • 1 star = Beyond yourself, there is likely very little supernatural influence on the mission.
  • 2 stars = You may encounter something you are not familiar with.
  • 3 stars = You would be advised to research this situation for supernatural influence prior to engagement.
  • 4 stars = You are likely to encounter significant supernatural influences.
  • 5 stars = Something very strange is going on, you should be prepared to rectify it while completeing your mission.

Endings: The amount of stealth required on this mission, including the need to remain undetected as a sidereal.

  • 1 star = You may flare your anima at will.
  • 2 stars = Try not to freak out the mortals, at least make sure your rd is off before you flare your anima.
  • 3 stars = You should not reveal yourself to be a sidereal in any way.
  • 4 stars = You should not reveal yourself as a supernatural being in any way.
  • 5 stars = You should rely upon personal essence only on this mission, artifacts should be secreted.
