Immortal Kombat - Match 2

Back to Immortal Kombat

Aoshi (Storm Crow Style)

vs

Hestia (Crystal Chameleon Style)

Match rules:

Competitors started 19 yards apart in a market street within the Imperial City. Passers-by are wary of the two obvious Exalts in the street. The air is humid and heat radiates from the cobblestones. The sounds of merchants hawking their wares and general hubbub fills the still air. In the distance the Imperial Manse can be seen to dominate the skyline, while only a few streets away can be seen an Immaculate Temple.
All Artifacts, Hearthstones, weapons and armour allowed.
To the death(ish).

Tick -1

Hestia and Aoshi Join Battle! Hestia wins handily, despite Aoshi's Secrets of Future Strife.

Tick 0

Hestia ducks sideways into a restaurant and activates Deadly Beastman Transformation and Relentless Lunar Fury. Patrons begin screaming as the creature changes shape. Unfortunately, Hestia can't understand a word they're saying. :)

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 1

Tick 2

Tick 3

Aoshi mirrors the Lunar and ducks into a building herself. This panics the handful of shoppers! She activates Storm Crow Form.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 4

Tick 5

Hestia re-enters the street looking for the troublesome Sidereal. The sights, sounds and smells of the City confuse her sensitive senses and she finds no trace of her foe.

(Speed 3, DV -0)

Tick 6

Tick 7

Tick 8

Aoshi activates Heaven-Scouring Windstorm Technique and tries to hide from the slowly approaching Lunar by staying below a window. Alas, her starmetal vajra is still clearly visible... (botch hide roll!)

Hestia runs into the building across the street from the girl and tries to hide as well, but her bulky tiger warform and the screams of the civilians give her away...

(Aoshi Speed 5 DV -1) (Hestia Speed 3 DV -0)

Tick 9

Tick 10

Tick 11

From her cunning 'hiding' spot, Hestia hefts her moonsilver vajra and gently taps out the window glass before hurling the weapon across the street and through the window above Aoshi. Alas, she misses and the magical javelin travels through the air to her hand again, unfortunately not impaling the Sidereal on the way back.

(Speed 5, DV -1)

Tick 12

Tick 13

Aoshi activates Heaven-Shattering Thunderbolt Onslaught! WIth an arcane series of katas she generates a storm of electrical activity around her and uses her spear to thrust at the Lunar across the street. A wave of essence carries the attack past screaming and scurrying city folk and into the Lunar's building. Unfortunately Hestia manages to dodge using Flashing Leaves Evasion and the sparking attack is impotently wasted. It dissipates harmlessly around the furnishings.

(Speed 5, DV -1)

Tick 14

Tick 15

Tick 16

Hestia leaps through her window, using her vajra as a pole to vault across the street and crash through the wall of Aoshi's building. She stabs at the heart of the Sidereal girl but her attack is thwarted once again.

(Speed 5, DV -1)

Tick 16

Tick 17

Tick 18

Aoshi spins around Hestia and jabs at her from the rear, missing wildly, before backing out the hole in the wall into the street. The wily Lunar unleashes her Peek-a-Boo combo! In a flash she is behind Aoshi and attacking. But the even more wily Sidereal was expecting this trick, and the attack is not unexpected! The first and second stabs are casually deflected by Aoshi. The third attack hits!

But what's this?

Oh no!

The Sidereal girl has Ducked Fate, and is still inside the building. Slumping on the shaft of Hestia's vajra is a poor merchant. Hestia feels her resolve draining away at this horrible trick of Fate as Aoshi make the Sign of the Crow.

Aoshi laughs with her anima flaring around her.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 19

Tick 20

Tick 21

Cowed but not beaten yet, Hestia polevaults with her vajra again, and flips in the air above Aoshi. Landing behind the Sidereal she jabs viciously, but her attack is batted away with ease.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 22

Tick 23

Aoshi activates her Heaven Splitting Moment combo! With a crackle of essence lightning and a sonic crack, she causes a deep wound in the Lunar, without seeming to have even moved! (9L)

(Speed 3 DV -2) (Hestia takes 9 wounds)

Tick 24

Tick 25

Tick 26

The Lunar tries to muster the will to attack, and jumps in the air above Aoshi, bringing the moonsilver point down hard, but she is parried (though barely) once again.

In return Aoshi spins her weapon around and slices into Hestia's eye and across her face. (7L)

(Hestia Speed 5 DV -1 Relentless Lunar Fury wears off) (Aoshi Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 27

Tick 28

Tick 29

Tick 30

Tick 31

Hestia musters her remaining strength and thrusts upwards towards her foe, but misses.

Aoshi steps back with a casual smile then throws the starmetal vajra into the Lunar tigress, pinning her to the cobblestone road. (6L)

Aoshi Wins!

Postscript

The cityscape fades to blinding white and all goes black. The sound of thunderous applause fades with it.

Comments from the Peanut Gallery

Much clearer winner. Clever timing by Aoshi certainly helped. Shame the Heaven-Shattering Thunderbolt Onslaught fizzled. :( Aoshi's Combo is quite brutal in it's own right, and quick to recover from, which is useful; if Aoshi had not been able to go on Tick 26, her -2 DV would have been enough for Hestia to get a strike in. This probably would not have changed the outcome, however, Aoshi just can't risk taking a hit due to her measly 7 health levels, even with Starmetal armour. Hestia really truly seriously needs better defences. She relies upon 19 health levels, but only has a Lethal Soak of 5! She has Bruise-Relief Method to regenerate, but that only works on Bashing. I would like to see a match between these two unarmed and unarmoured. :) nikink
