Description

If met in his workshop, where he spends most of his time; Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys appears as a slight, somewhat hunched man, often wearing a dark leather bodysuit with bare feet. His face is dirty and his thin hair sticks out in all direction from his large head. From a distance he seems unattractive but not monstrously so. If one comes closer to the deathknight, the first thing one becomes aware of is the smell. A lot of deathknights smells of death, whether it is from the rampaging rot of their bodies or the dry tomb air of their dark abodes. But Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys smells like an animal, like animal waste and wet fur. As one comes closer to the deathknight, one realizes that his face is not merely ugly, it is inhuman, the face of a beast. Small black eyes, a small stub of a nose and a large fang filled mouth makes him look like a monkey and reveals his true heritage. His arms are too long and his long hairy toes are obviously prehensile. His wild black hair grows down his cheeks and become fur. As the power of Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys increases, his body becomes ever more wrinkled and crooked, making him more and more like the zombie monkeys he uses as his assistants.

When he leaves his dark lair, he wears a tattered cloak and wide brimmed hat that covers a light soul steel mail shirt and a dark soul steel mask covering his face. Hunching over with his face covered by his hat and aided by the dark magic of his abyssal charms, Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys can travel most places, without anyone beyond other essence wielders noticing him.

Growing up as the deformed son of a local mad woman has done little in ways of imparting social graces on Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys. When around other sentient beings whether living or dead he keeps to himself speaking little. If someone gets to close to him, he often reacts violently by either screaming and waving his arms or even attacking the intruder, biting and scratching.

The only time Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys behaves less aggressively is when presented with some strange gadget or occult secret. He is endlessly curious as to the workings of things and his master has turned his remarkable mind and curiosity to darker secrets, necromancy and the gadgetry of traps and weapons. Even though the bestial deathknight had no schooling when he entered the service of the Widow of the Red Path, he quickly grasped the basic principles of sorcery and turned out to have a remarkable talent for the occult. When he is tinkering in his workshop, he is a tireless bundle of energy, not sleeping or eating as he crawls around on the walls of his workshop, constantly making little animal like noises to himself or an abrupt monkey like squeal of delight, when he solves something.

Biography

Legends tell of a mighty No Moon Lunar known as Mountain Toppling Ape, a wise sage and sorcerer, who once dwelled in the lands of the East. Long before the usurpation and the fall of the Solar, Mountain Toppling Ape was a craftsman, exceptionally skilled in the art of creating clever devices and magical tools. The No moon would often withdraw to his workshop for decades to work and experiment, surrounding by his beastman children, the Seven Stone Monkeys tribe. The Seven Stone Monkeys Tribe had inherited some of their father's creative abilities. Although they could never match their creator's divine genius, they were clever creatures, building houses and simple machines in their hidden tree top homes.

(To be continued)

Detailed Backgrounds

  • Artifacts 5
    • Vicious Ape Claws(Artifact 2, 5 motes to attune, 1 to activate). When travelling, Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys carries these soul steel braces on his wrist and lower arms. Adorned with tiny carvings of skeletal apes, the braces have a jagged, claw like edge just above the wearer's wrist. The wearer can make a slashing attack with this edge, doing Strength -1 lethal damage. By spending a single mote of essence, the wearer may sprout vicious claws, made of dull grey soul steel. These claws allow the wearer to make a hand-to-hand attack, doing Strength +1 lethal damage. Additionally the wearer may safely parry weapons and other lethal blows. While the claws are extended, the wearer gains a two-die bonus to all athletics rolls when climbing.
    • Vicious Ape Claws(Artifact 2, 5 motes to attune, 1 to activate). A second set, worn on the shins and causing strength +1 lethal damage when kicking, but otherwise identical to the set above.
  • Liege 4
    • Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys is primarily a weapons maker for the Widow, so he spends most of his time in his cave workshop, close to his mistress´s hidden base. Widow of the Red Path recognizes her bestial henchman´s need for privacy and peace to work, but often checks in on the deathknight secretly.

Other Notes

Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys could technically be called a beastman before his dark exaltation, but as the blood of his lunar ancestor had thinned considerably over the eons, little of the exalted power remained. Mechanically this means that Dust and Bones of Seven Monkeys was a Lunar half caste/beastman with an Inheritance of 0, in no way interfering with his abyssal powers.
