Session 5 took place on 10-27-2007. Orani Mina, Ta'Lor, Arimus, Threefold Shadow, and Crys Gattz were in attendance, recieving 1 XP each.

Depression Part 1

Today is Launch Day, a day that will be commemorated forever in the hearts of the Manse Dwellers with a holiday... the important people of the Manse have come to be here, milling about and chatting. The important people are dressed fairly, as one would expect a middle-class merchant to dress, which is shabbier than one would expect since they are the heads of clans. Thousand-Hands hmmms at Orani? "I don't expect this to be a problem unless he begins eating babies or urinating on our crops." He says, shrugging.

Orani Mina nods at Umari. "If you feel it is well, then I will continue. I hope to return soon with a permanent exit for all who wish."

Ta'lor is busy going over the notes on the recent change that happened to Arimus and is amazed as seeing what happened. He is also on the sub, going over some other notes and asks, "So, with Arimus becoming a Lunar Exalted, I wonder whatelse will happen to him," he says to no one, but probably the AI. "So, what is the maximum range for this Tapestry Weaver drive?" he asks the AI as he walks out of the Medical Bay and heads towards the bridge.

Orani Mina arrives back at the sub with her things, it doesn't take long, just as she promised. "I am ready to go.", she says.

The AI ers. "I don't remember."

Thousand Hands peers into the sub. "So what is supposed to happen when you activate this device?"

Threefold Shadow stands to one side of the bridge, where he can observe everything but at the same time not be in the way of crew actually doing something useful, if any. His gear has long since been stowed in his quarters.

The newly Exalted Arimus would be down in the cargo hold He was double-checking to make sure that all the stuff they were taking along- the food, extra clothes, spare weapons, essence propelled cart, whatever, was nicely strapped down. When he was done with that he would be down in the engine room, with all his tools on hand, just to make sure that the yellow submarine would not come part in mid-journey. Autochthon only knows what could go wrong with something this old.

Thousand-Hands notes the Tell Arimus has... and climbs back out after conferring with the AI about what's supposed to happen. Orani Mina also doesn't want to be in the way of anyone who'll actually be operating the sub. But she looks around whenever she can, curious about its internal workings. "Hello.", she says to the AI. "I am Orani Mina."

Ta'lor looks up at Thousand Hands, "Well as it is a teleportation device, it will in a sense, move the sub, or us from point A to point B in a matter of moments to minutes. And since we have no idea what the range of the Tapestry Weaver, we could go a matter of feet to half way around the world," he states to him. "Well, in theory at least. We could also be teleported into a wall or into another plane of existance," and he looks up as he smiles. Which is fantastic, since it will be a whole new experience and somethign that others will possibly be able to experience." and he thinks as he looks around. "However, when word of this gets out, there will be people wanting to get their hands on the Sub, so it will be dangerous for all of us in one form or another.

The AI hmms at Orani Mina. "Welcome aboard, Mina, I'm Falstaff. Would you care for a game of chess?"

Orani Mina says, "I would love to play a game of chess!"

Ta'lor looks, "Watch it, she is good, I spent what, three days on just one game."

Shadow slips off the bridge, taking a few moments to wander through the vehicle and check... well, everything he can think of, really. Returning to the bridge a bit later, he resumes his place in the corner, arms folded casually. "So," he asks at large, "What else must be done before we can attempt this departure thing?"

Orani Mina turns to Ta'lor and smiles before indicating a piece to be moved. She begins concentrating on the game.

Crys is on dasboat they have had their send off Rightous fire was very unhappy about not getting aboard but Crys didn't rub it in their face at all. It wasn't right to do so. As mortal or not everyone wanted out for the most part or the ability to get out at least. Many of the people who are on board are Gattz clan members, with elongated pointy ears, which are characteristic of the clan. Arimus, in such case, probably has a couple of assistants to help keep him keep the engines operation! That's a good thing. On any large machine it's preferable to have multiple people. "Let's see.. This beauty's as good as it's gonna get. We're ready to go whenever you lot are!" Calling into one of the inter-comms.

Orani Mina feels a small shudder of excitement at Arimus' words. "Do you need to concentrate on this machine? Our game can wait if so.", she says.

Orani Mina finds herself a seat as close to the front of the machine as possible, curious to see how it is driven and be one of the first to glimpse out into the previously unknown.

Falstaff hmms? "Well..." He looks to Arimus, the other people. "Who's the pilot?"

Arimus blinks up at Falstaff. "..Don't look at me. I'm an engineer, not a navigator." With a salute to Bones. o7

Shadow blinks slowly, "Pilot? What must be done?" he asks of the AI.

Crys says "Let me drive I actually know how to..."

Orani Mina, with much surprise, turns to look at Crys. "When did y... WHERE did you learn how to operate something like this?"

Arimus hrms. "Probably from one of the manuals I found in the hold. There's several about how to pilot ships in general and how to steer this magnificent craft in general." Into the comm.

Orani Mina says, "Is that true, Crys?"

Crys nods. "Where do you think I been the last two weeks before we set off?" She grins "I was bushing up, I used to handle some of the other hanger only water craft and I pretty much had the pervbal nose to the book reading up on this. I figured I'd make my self useful." SHe nods to Arimus "You win the prize sir." She nods "It's not just a ship its a work of art."

Orani Mina's eyes widen. "Can I see those books?!", she asks excitedly.

Falstaff ers... "Why... certainly, if the young lady wishes to pilot the vessel, I'd be happy to give her a few pointers on the specific controls."

Arimus clicks the comm on, again. "I don't see why you couldn't, Orani. Ask Crys though, I gave'em to her. I've no use for such things."

Threefold Shadow shrugs slightly. "Alrighty then. Anything else we need that has yet to be fulfilled, Falstaff?" Other than a tremendous measure of luck... but he doesn't say that out loud, only directing a quiet prayer to the Unconquered.

Ta'lor looks, "I may have a look at them, since finding out knowledge on a ship that was made before our time is a fantastic thing. Plus it is never a bad thing to learn somethign new and to have knowledge for anythign that might be waiting for us, out there," he says as he gestures out towards the front of the ship.

Orani Mina, satisfied for the moment, takes a seat in the ancient First Age vessel and tries her best to contain the excitement that is welling up in her. Her hands grip the seat tightly, and her eyes are locked forward.

Crys says "Sure they are in the box under my bunk." She nods to Falstaff "I'd be happy for your help Falstaff!" Freedom to see the outside! She's heading for the controls to get ready to roll she'll make sure they are clear of their mourings and anything else they need to use.... its time to go. "Falstaff can you run a quick check of all our systems before we depart?"

Falstaff gives Crys the basic tutorial about the controls... taking about five minutes to do so. "Now note that when the Tapestry Weaver is activated, it can't be used until the essence batteries recharges. That takes about 25 hours or one day. Important to remember this."

Arimus listens to Falstaff as well. "I would suggest that we reserve the Tapestry Weaver for emergencies. Even if it might get us to the Mainland faster."

Falstaff smirks. "Yes, but we can't very well get out of here without it's use, now can we?"

Shadow clears his throat. "Good idea, Arimus... but we still have to use it to get out of the manse, yes? Which means it's going to be discharged if we run into anything unpleasant in the first day. Falstaff, this thing has windows or something, right?" He hasn't seen any, but assumed they were covered by shutters...

Arimus grumbles. "I tried to find another means out, hang it all.."

Ta'lor looks as he listens, "Is there any other way to power the batteries?" he asks the AI as he looks at everyone and sits down, putting his glasses on. "Or we can wait 25 hours and go tomorrow after we double check everything we have and to make any last minute arrangements and preperations for this trip."

The AI looks at Ta'lor. "No, there isn't... the engine has to cool down as well as the batteries... as for the view... Hrmmm... Yes, that's intact..." The bridge is in a hemispheircal dome made of moonsilver. Falstaff directs Crys to press a button. If she does, the moonsilver dome begins displaying the surrounding area around the sub.

Orani Mina looks up at the Moonsilver dome with a quickly-stifled sound of amazement. The grin on her face is ear to ear.

Shadow frowns in Ta'lor's general direction, "What good does waiting do us? We must use the charge in the battery to get us out of the manse, regardless of whether we go today or tomorrow or next bloody week. Which means we're outside the manse in unknown waters for a day before we can possibly use the Tapestry Weaver again." His eyes widen slightly at the display screens, and he murmurs softly, "Splendid."

Ta'lor nods, "Pity," he states. "So, we have 25 hours to wait," and he looks, "I know but if the batteries are not charged now, the Tapestry Weaver drive will not work now. So waiting is going to be neccessary," and he looks at the panels and screens that open. "Amazing, simply amazing," he states. "And this shows everythign that is around the ship?" he asks.

The AI looks at Ta'lor. "I've been sitting here for 1800 years, the batteries are charged."

Shadow bites his tongue on a sharp response, and merely addresses the AI. "Falstaff, the essence battery -is-.... Ahh, good, thank you."

Everybody outside is waiting expectantly.

Shadow clears his throat quietly. "PIlot Gattz, Falstaff. Any time you're ready, ladies. Everyone else, please be alert for trouble."

Crys presses the proper button and pauses at the display oh this is handy and it seems like it's time to go. "Then lets get going." She's now checking the last few bits and pauses at the pa button. "To all hands we are departing." And she brings the sub away from the docks, it dives and is heading for the exti

Arimus moves up a deck or so to stand by the teleportation device. "I do not foresee any problems with the Tapestry Weaver. Let's kick this pig."

Orani Mina is firmly planted in her seat. "Oh, Unconquered Sun, watch over your Chosen.", she whispers, bringing a hand to her forehand to touch her caste mark and then down to kiss her fingers briefly.

Everybody kind of finds something to hold onto, given they don't know what's going to happen...

As for the exit... there isn't one. Other wise Water Aspects would have escaped eons ago... Falstaff quietly points this out, of course.

Ta'lor looks, "Lets see what's out there," and he looks at Shadow than to the others, finding a place to sit down at, which happens to be the Awareness will be helpful to them. <re>

Crys pauses "... the blast doors, we need to open em..."

Orani Mina pipes up softly. "Isn't this supposed to be able to teleport?"

The blast doors cannot be opened due to the lack of geomantic power.

Arimus says, "..There a particular reason we're not bloody well going anywhere, or did I miss something?"

Orani Mina says, "The doors leading out into the open water are closed and we can't open them... they haven't been open in over a thousand years. Maybe we can teleport the boat past them?"

Crys says "Right right preparing to teleport." Then she looks sheepish plugging in the commands to teleport out.

The ship makes a humming sound, and the walls show that the ship is crackling with lightning and sparks, then the view abruptly changes into a field of countless starmetal strands interconnected with one another, and the ship is underway, riding along the tapestry of fate by the skin of it's teeth. "Crys! Quickly! Grab the steering and think of a destination!" Falstaff says.

Shadow wraps a hand around a convenient something or other that won't move, and waits as calmly as he can for the pilot and the AI to deposit them somewhere... or not, as the case may be.

Ta'lor looks as he watches the powering up of the Tapestry Weaver begins to activate and he watches Crys work.

Crys grabs the controlls at this point and picks the nearest known port city they know of at least on the map.

Arimus watches the Tapestry Weaver as it powers up, tools ready.. Gods only knew how well this thing would work after nearly two thousand years of disuse..

The submarine flits through the silvery strands and emerges through a portal, emerging in a submarine bay in the closest port on the map capable of servicing it... Sunken Luthe.

Outside, Sharkmen and Octopusmen stare in SHOCK at the newcomer. They mumble and make signs of warding. There are humans here too, dirty and downtrodden though they be...

Ta'lor looks at this, "Hmm," he states as he thinks, "Looks like this is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious," he states to them as he looks around. "However, since we are here, we might as well go out and say hi."

Arimus would ensure that his newfound pistol was in its holster- and visible- before climbing up to join the others. ".. We blew a couple of fuses when the Tapestry Weaver went online, but the assistants I've been provided with are already installing fresh ones. We might have a look around for an hour or two, never know if we can find more useful spare parts."

Orani Mina continues looking into the display at all of the people around. Amazed to see the octopusmen and sharkmen and the humans, surprisingly enough to look more haggard than the people she left behind in the Manse. She turns to Falstaff. "Is it safe to go outside??" Luckily, the ship arrived in one of the sub bays that hadn't been filled with water...

Falstaff glances at Mina. "There is air here... I'm none too sure about the inhabitants, however." He hmmms... "Presence of beastmen indicates the presence of one or more Lunar Exalted."

Falstaff beeps. "There is one very powerful Lunar Exalted in the region. And it is approaching fast."

Orani Mina turns towards Arimus. "You should be able to speak to him on our behalf, yes?"

A light scan of the lunar shows a behemoth-sized orca approaching...

Ta'lor look, I wonder who this Lunar is?" he stats as he looks around, and grabs his hammer.

Shadow murmurs softly, "I don't think we have a choice in the matter; I doubt they'll let us leave easily..."

Arimus narrows his eyes for a moment. Looking to Orani for a moment, "..Hm. Yes, I will try to.. Let us hope that my 'cousin' is in a talkative mood." Some faint memory suggests to him that the other may very well *not* be big on small talk. He debated on if he should suggesting that the Solars stay put.

The lunar beaches, actually rocking the submarine and tossing it about easily. It is a killer whale many times bigger than the yellow submarine. The beastmen present bow and chant to their god. "Tell me why I shouldn't eat you, intruders." booms the orca.

Orani Mina says, "Does this vessel have a method of communicating with the outside, Falstaff?"

Falstaff ers... "That was made to constantly sound like a pig in heat by the fair folk noble... I don't think you want to use the external comms."

Orani Mina stands up from her seat and pulls the hood of her cloak over her head as Falstaff replies. She takes a deep breath and then turns towards the exit. "Then we must speak to it from the outside.", she says, beginning to move towards the exit. She's going to go through the entrance hatch unless someone stops her.

The orca grows impatient and booms... "WELL?!" The beastmen scatter, emptying the dock area.

Arimus facepalms at Falstaff. "..I'll go. I suggest the rest of you stay here.. In case we need to escape. Orani, wait!" Reaching out and grabbing the Solar's ankle, when she looked back down she'd see.. Arimus has become a rather *tall* fellow. Very anthropomorphic too, that spiffy warbeast form that Lunars are renowned for. "Ahemm.." Voice deeper and more growly and grating than before. "As I was saying.. Chances are good that-" Cut off by the booming. "..Just stay here in case you need to drive this thing off as fast as possible. Miss Gattz? Please be ready to make an escape at a moment's notice." Presuming that Orani was smart enough to get out of the huge anthro Serval's way, Arimus would climb up to meet the Orca.

Orani Mina hesitates, but then does get out of the way.

Ta'lor looks and blinks, "Good luck Arimus," he states to him. "We will wait for your word on the matter," he states simply.

Admiral Leviathan glares at Arimus' comparitavely small form. "You are... Casteless?" He snarls. "You've come to seek the rites of initiation then?"

It's not easy to stand on top of a yellow submarine defiantly. Still, Arimus narrows his eyes at Leviathan for a moment. ".. No, though I *will* have to take care of that later.. For now I'm simply trying to get to the mainland. I am sorry that my vessel has appeared here- my intentions were not to trespass in your territ'ry."

Leviathan sneers. "You will become a chimera if you do not undergo the rites. Tell your crew to disembark or I'll drown them."

Arimus snarls a little. "I will endure. This craft protects me from the Wyld. And what pray tell is in store for my crew if they DO disembark?"

"Your crew will be given a safe berth... unless they are dragon-blooded traitors." says Leviathan.

Arimus crosses his arms for a moment, eyeing up Leviathan. ".. Some of the crew are in fact, Dragon-Blooded. BUT, before you explode, they are all entirely loyal to our former mates.. In fact, a few of them are on board." Looking down and calling into the ship. "Miss Orani, please come up."

Taking a deep breath, Orani begins climbing up the ladder that leads to the hatch. While she is climbing, there is a loud commotion from Orani's room in the boat, and an eagle comes flying out after a few seconds, navigating the few hallways until it is with her. Once she steps out of the sub, the eagle lands on her shoulder and nuzzles her cheek affectionately as she pulls her hood free of her face. "Hello.", she says, mustering up courage. "I am Madera Seru Nona Orani Mina. Kin of Umari Thousand-Hands. I am pleased to meet you."

Darzoni/THAT/ is a name of the treacherous DRAGON-BLOODS." Leviathan roars. But he does not immediately bite Mina's head off, no. One great blue eye looks at Orani Mina. "IF you are a Lawgiver, you will show me your castemark."

Arimus would have no doubt interposed himself *between* Leviathan and Orani had the orca gone to attack the Solar.

Leviathan snarls. "And tattoos do not count." His own moonsilver tattoos glitter brightly.

Orani Mina, of course, takes a reflexive step back at the thunderous roar from Leviathan. "Of course.", she says, and with that, the sign of the Twilight Sun flares brightly from the mark upon her forehead, a radiant evening blue, and similarly-toned Old Realm text begins to flow across her body like a second skin.

Leviathan rumbles. "Good. You are also not my bond-mate. Which is also GOOD." At this he laughs, a booming thing that ripples the water of the dock. "Very well then." He says quietly... Then snarls. "It is for their safety that your dragon-blood crew remain aboard. My followers would destroy them." Of course, there are his own proclivities as well.

Arimus lifts a brow.. Having that feeling that Leviathan would probably enjoy that kind of massacre. "Indeed, cousin. They'll not come out, I assure you of this." He remembered.. All too well, unfortunately.

Crys is now no longer at the controls they have stoppped for now and is going to possibly lend a hand is needed. Lets hope this works.... from the sounds from Leviathan all is well at the moment. "What about those of us who are not blooded...?" As she comes out to join the others having caught some of the converstation

Orani Mina speaks up. "Great Exalted of Luna...", she begins, obviously choosing her words carefully as she continues. "You have mentioned traitors... We come from a city that has been locked away from the world outside of it for fifteen generations... I assure you that neither I, nor any of my companions bear any ill-will towards those in a world we do not know."

Leviathan's awe inspiring bulk moves closer to the submarine, looming over it. "Ill-will or not, the Dragon-Bloods are treacherous dogs. They murdered the Solars, many of my friends, and brought the world crashing down around their ears. Even now when the world needs heroes and champions, they stand about pointing fingers at each other and scheme to usurp the power of their own brethren. THEY are not to be trusted."

Orani Mina looks towards the submarine. "I beg you.", she says. "We know nothing of treachery and only of survival. We come from a city that works in harmony to subsist on the few resources that are left, and every person in our vessel, including I, have no thoughts of forsaking our family or friends for personal gain. The world outside may have changed, and those who share our common ancestors may have changed... but we are innocent. Please consider this, and have mercy on those whose hands do not bear the blood of the betrayal that weighs upon your heart."

Arimus puts a hand to his forehead for a moment.. Memories flooding his mind, eyes wide open as he stares at ghosts of the past. "Yes... Yes I remember now.." Putting his hand down and giving the orca a hard, stone-faced stare. "Admiral Leviathan.. I knew how much you loved her.. But *you* of all of us should also remember.. It wasn't JUST them. The dragon-blooded on this boat remained loyal to our bond-mates at all times, no matter the circumstance." As the sentence was spoken, his voice became ever more of a growling tone. "You always were a hothead though."

Leviathan snorts in disgust and flips back into the water and swims off without another word. Well, apparently he's letting them do whatever they want, at their own peril.

Orani Mina lets out an obvious sigh of relief.

Falstaff ers... "That was close, wasn't it? Just the same, I don't recommend that the Water Aspects go swimming..."

Crys is just hanging back at the points and she nods a little bit to him and listens. "So thats how it is now....."

The enlarged Arimus peers down at Orani, patting her shoulder. "A fine job, miss Orani." Looking down into the craft, at Falstaff. "I believe that we should leave here now.. I'd rather not risk getting on Leviathan's bad side. Since it's obvious that's gotten even more aggressive the Usurpation. We should leave now before his mood turns to murderous."

Orani Mina looks at the dock of the city, not even realizing yet that the city is beneath the sea, and sighs quietly. "Perhaps you are right.", she says, and she returns to the boat. All of a sudden, the excitement of seeing a new world is gone, a feeling that the new world might be even more hopeless than the one they left. Quietly, she slumps back into the seat she was occupying, the eagle preening her for a few moments. She looks up at Crys and there aren't any words. The eagle nips at her hand to rebuke her for pulling her hood over her face, but it remains, and it flies back to its perch in her quarters.
