Her Manse:
Winter Jade House- A villa built in the Old Empire style, with a modest formal garden and a little grove of bamboo. It sits a few blocks from one of the quicksilver canals, relatively close to the Realm’s Imperial City gate.

"The Avenue of the Boundless North was a residential street, lined with villas and pagodas of varying size and age built in the spare, Old Empire style. Not far from the Imperial City gate, most of them belonged to conservative divinities occupied with the Realm in one capacity or another, or employed by the Bureau of Destiny. A few belonged to other members of the Fellowship. One or two were in the midst of a change in ownership… And one was an eyesore.

A little over a century ago, Afaldinada, Prince of the Pangolin, had taken a serene and sensible six-tiered pagoda that had stood unchanged for a good thousand years (For, indeed, the residents who made up the Boundless North’s neighborhood association were notoriously strict-) and, without so much as a nod to the wishes of his neighbors, had painted it nineteen shades of pink and festooned it with garlands of fire-flowers. Some said he had done it to spite a rival… a functionary of the Department of Landscape Appropriations who lived next-door. Others claimed it was dream-stone induced insanity. Either way, the structure and its owner had become the focus of a fierce debate which had yet to reach a conclusion. Did the Association have any control over a neighbor who refused to listen to its proclamations?… Looking at the notorious Pink Pagoda in the wan light of both the sun and the moon Suyu certainly hoped that it did. “That has got to be the single *ugliest* dwelling in Yu Shan.”

Fortunately, it receded from view quickly behind more pleasing structures as she made her way to the docks."

Her Familiar::
Kaede was formerly the god of the celebrated swallowtailed butterflies of the Sun Pearls, a chain of tropical, volcanic islands in the far West. When the Wyld consumed the islands (and his butterflies-), he was left without an occupation, and eventually became one of Heaven's countless homeless divinities. He was adopted by Suyu after she found him in an abandoned park in Yu Shan.

Kaede is a flake... but he's a devoted and sweet-natured flake, and Suyu adores him. He is, without a doubt, her best friend and most trusted companion. How exactly the beautiful Little God ended up establishing a close enough bond with the Sidereal to become her familiar is a matter of some speculation among the gossips of the Division of Serenity, and even the question of how best to describe their partnership has been known to raise a few eyebrows.

“What do I want, she asks me? I want to go back to Kyoden Kame!” Hatsuyuki sat down heavily on one of the countless balconies of her sifu's manse, and stared out at the well-tended Square of the Rising Sun. “It’s not that Yu Shan isn’t beautiful, or that she's been unkind to me… I just… I just want to go home.” She sighed and picked up the tattered little butterfly that she’d found in the over-grown ruins of Hierophant’s Park the day before, and shook her head. “It isn’t fair that I had to leave An-Teng so suddenly. I didn’t ask for this! … I didn’t get to say goodbye, and now no one even remembers that I was there. My own grandmother has forgotten me.”

The butterfly settled softly but said nothing… Not that Suyu had really expected it to. Even in Yu Shan butterflies were rarely in the habit of joining human conversations... But it did tap her thumb with one barbed foot in what seemed to be sympathy. “I shouldn’t be the one complaining, should I? Heaven hasn’t been very nice to you either, has it? ... I may not know anyone here, and I may get lost every time I go outside, but there haven’t been any feral gods trying to pull my wings off lately.”

The colorful spirit fluttered nervously and tried to hide in Suyu’s kimono sleeve at the mention of predators, but she caught it and cradled it in her hands instead. “Don’t be afraid,” she said to the little god. “Those cat spirits can’t hurt you any more. I won’t let them… You don’t have to hide. It's safe here…”

She watched the spirit thoughtfully as she calmed it, speaking gently and brushing the soft edges of its wings with the tips of her fingers. In a moment it was still again, and she smiled. It was such a fragile thing, this beautiful butterfly god, and yet somehow it had managed to adapt and to survive in the vast City of Heaven. If it could, she decided, then she could too. “If you’re going to stay with me, I can’t just keep calling you ‘butterfly’. You need a name… Or do you already have one?”

The butterfly’s wings drooped and it seemed to shrug.

“Hmm… In An-Teng, people call butterflies ‘kakeru no natsu’… the falling leaves of summer. Your wings are a little like the shape of the leaves of a maple tree... When those are still on the tree, they’re called ‘momiji’, but when they start to fall people use a different word for them. When they start to fall people call them ‘kaede’…”

... and The Tower of Thirteen Thoughts: Level 5 Celestial Manse (Sidereal Aspected, On loan from WG)

Yu-Shan bursts with power, that of the gods, the Sidereals, the enlightened Dragonbloods, and the veritable flood of prayers from the mortal world. It is of little wonder that the geomancy of the place brims with powerful manses that do not require the massive area similar places would in Creation. One point of power is almost that, a grand point that rises high into the sky reaching, perhaps even straining to touch the sky dome and be ever nearer the siguls of the winner at the games of divinity.

This is the Tower of Thirteen Thoughts, and it has been located in a small suburb of Yu-Shan since the time of the primordials. The common joke is that the Ebon Dragon used to use it for a back scratcher. It rises, a great spindle from a small plot of landroughly twenty feet in diameter. It sweeps up gracefully into the sky, and at thirteen points along its vast length, there are spherical chambers. To reach the chamber, one has merely to be attuned to the structure or in the presence of another who is, and speak the name of the chamber one wishes to enter while touching the side of the tower.

Only seven of the Chambers names are known: Aphonai (Peace), Selendris (Prosperity), Ylanstir (Hope), Jestrad (Terror), Whyhendal (Lust), Rawnistra (Focus), and Dhallan (Idleness). The other six have been lost to time. Fortunately this has not prevented attunement, and Aphonai is the hearthstone chamber, so the stones have been available as well. The structure is one of the few manses designed to create gems of shared voice. It may create five such gems in its current form.

Gem of Shared Voice: These gems are never created singly, for they operate as a group. The gem is roughly the size of an acorn, and all are linked to a master stone of the set. The master stone must be worn by an individual attuned to the manse, the other stones may be given out to other people and used by any individual. The stones may be placed into an item containing a setting, or they may simply be placed against the ear of the individual who wishes to use them. Either mode will allow their use. If placed in ones ear, the stone melts and reforms inside the ear, causing no loss of hearing, and virtually indetectable, as it also changes color. (Per + Awareness Diff 5 to detect.)

The gems are linked, and when activated, they allow the wearers to communicate at will with the other wearers of the gems, regardless of their location in Yu-Shan or Creation. Indeed, the stones even allow for the users to converse Between Heaven and Earth. A single mote of essence must be given to the stone to activate its power for a scene. If the stone is inactive and an incoming conversation is directed, the stone will give the wearer a quiet signal that they should activate the stone. Interestingly, these signals seem to vary dependant upon the personality of the user. All messages mass through the primary stone, and thus the attuned person may monitor all conversations held with the stones.
