Seventh Tomb

by BrilliantRain

"Someone must have finally killed that damn dog. Its howling kept me up every damn night. I never could figure out where the Malfeas it was, but it always sounded like its damn howling was right in my damn ear."
- Nine Reeds, the (less) annoyed proprietor of The Winterlight Pawn Shoppe.
"Of course I feed him occasionally. A clean street in front of my shop is worth a little food now and then."
- Crowing Hound, souteneur of Prints of Pleasure.

There are many streets in Nexus, and all of them get dirty. All of the high-rent districts and most of the middle class ones employ street sweepers to keep the filth down; those in the low-rent districts not only don't have that option, but that patch of dirty ground might be someone's living room. Nevertheless, there is one small area of Firewander that has fairly clean streets.

This is due solely to the efforts of Seventh Tomb. He is an elderly person who spends six days out of seven sweeping the streets between Sow's Trotter Lane and Drunken Wind Street. He never asks for recompense, but some of the local businesses occasionally give him food, as they feel that he is good for business. He rarely talks, and no one knows why he does what he does. But this rarely stops the Nexus rumor mill....

Rumours

  • "Well, I heard that he was once the youngest guild master of the Street Sweeper's guild ever, who vanished in The Great Nexus Fire. He must have come unhinged then."
  • "I heard that he has this secret ritual that turns trash into treasure. That's where he goes every Saturn's Day. He performs the ritual, sells the treasure, and when he finally has enough, he is going to retire in Bastion."

Secret

  • Seventh Tomb, who is slightly cracked ex-novice priest, just sweeps the streets as a cover for his real work. He collects the corpses of all of the dead animals found on the street and once a week takes them to The Sovenant Chrysanthemum Field and buries them with a short funeral service. He believes that unless he does this, the hungry ghosts of the animals killed by carts and other violent means will attack people. He might even be right.

Question about the rumor... did the youngest master of the guild disappear, or did the guild itself disappear? -EJGRgunner

I meant the guy dissappeared. However if you want to do it the other way that is ok too.
