The Story So Far

A Trainwreck Introduction

by DeathBySurfeit

The story begins in Pheyx's orange orchard; Scipio has arrived to ensure the coming cadre of Dynasts will not be disappointed - a number of slaves had been purchased in preparation for their, ah, festivities, and none appeared to have arrived. Pheyx was keen to assure Scipio that the matter was being dealt with; Scipio has few enemies that have survived to the present day. He orders his pleasure yacht, the Golden Nectar, prepared to sail and meet the slavers as they approach the shore.

Meanwhile, Kaleus and Nadirah are standing on the prow of the Spurn Of The Ancients, its crew long since slaughtered, whilst Hakhuta looks down hungrily at the dolphins. They are in desperate need of provisions and able crew, and decide to stock up on both at Abalone, the nearest major port. They set sail accordingly.

A few hours later, as Pheyx's ornate carriage is clattering down toward his personal bay, his Essence-enhanced vision spots a slaver drifting into the docks, at the other end of the island. Its flag - the Spurn Of The Ancients. He sends a messenger back on one of the carriages' horses, arranging to have his bodyguards meet him at the jetty.

Meanwhile, Nadirah and Kaleus are having difficulty securing their ship - the jetty master, a morbidly obese man and his shrivelling indentured scribe are demanding a quite exorbitant fee. Flash makes a cameo appearance, stepping in gallantly to enquire as to whether Nadirah is being bothered by the pair. After being told by the jetty master that she isn't, he nods amicably and bids them farewell, disappearing as promptly as he came. Nadirah and Kaleus, slightly stunned, barter across a good sum of the ship's loot for the privelige of docking.

Pheyx's carriage draws up, his Legion-trained bodyguards forming a claw about him as he strides down the jetty. Nadirah steps up to the gangplank, and her vision shifts, seeing him for a moment clad in an ivory-white suit studded with pearls, eyes and hair as gold as the morning sun. His entrancing smile fades as the vision does, to the cold and empty gesture he wears nowadays.

All players are welcome to summarise the plot so far, and add in further updates as the campaign progresses. If it gets too big, I'll rearrange the page accordingly.
