Spider Style Martial Arts:
This Style was created by the entity known as The Lady of Webs and is taught only by her or one of her lesser demons.
Learning Spider Style Martial Arts (or rather being taught it) requires the character to have Dexterity and Appearance Attributes at 3. The Weapons associated with Spider Style are Jitte, Tonfa, Whips and Fighting Chains. This Style is available to mortals who are taught by the Lady herself. It gives them a Martial Arts initiation and an Essence pool (for use with these charms only) equal to the ((sum of their virtues) + Willpower) x2.

After spending 1 day attuning to an area, usually a building, glade, apartment or other personal space (no larger than a total of 500 square feet per point of permanent essence) and the commitment of 2 motes of essence. The area becomes cinsidered a web for the other charms in this tree. Whilst within a web a Spider artist suffers no environmental penalties of any sort. A rigid moving structure (such as the cabin of a ship or a caravan) can become a web however a non-rigid structure such as a tent must be re-attuned every time it is erected. An Artist cannot have more permanent webs than she has points of permanent Essence.

For a cost of 3 motes the artist can add her Appearance to her Martial arts pool or her dexterity to her socialise pool for purposes of interaction. If within a web the duration of this charm is extended from one turn to one scene.

The basic benefits of the form charm are the ability for the artist to add her Socialise to her Bashing soak and her Appearance to her Lethal soak and the ability to chose which soak is applied to any given attack. This charm is incompatible with armour except tailored (x2 cost) Buff Jackets and the Silk Armour Artifact (Artifact 3, Castebook Eclipse). Within a web the Form also adds the following abilities: +1 die to Martial Arts pools AND -1 to mutiple action penalties per limb of the spider. (This changes the charm type to extra action and increases the cost of the charm by one mote per limb).

This Charm CANNOT be part of a Combo
After Spending one round completely stationary and making no actions the Martial artist turns the immediate area (500 square feet) into a web for the purposes of this Style. If you take damage during the round you are preparing the web you must make a willpower + endurance roll at a difficulty equal to the amount of damage or the charm fails and the Essence (not the Willpower) is lost.

The combat application of this charm allows an Artist to make a number of reflexive Martial Arts counter attacks equal to her Martial Arts score whilst in a full defence (cascading dodge or parry). These counter attacks are made at her full dice pool. The non-combat application, which is only useable in a web, also costs 1 willpower and causes the motes to become committed. As long as the character is in a web she may call an automatic basic success on any Intelligence based roll. The length of time the motes are considered committed for is a number of days equal to the difficulty of the roll. eg a difficulty five roll requires five days at which point you receive the information as though you had rolled one net success.
Spider's Caress

The Artist may add her Dexterity + Martial Arts to all Socialise rolls. However for the duration of the charm she unconsciously makes efforts (Appearance + Socialise rolls) to ... entice everyone she meets, whether of a compatible gender/sexuality or not. This can lead to ... complications (translation: plot hooks) assigned by the ST, and should therefore not be used lightly. There are no web bonuses to this charm.
This charm has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on characters with the True Love or Eternal Vow merits.
Spider's Wisdom

Type: Simple
This charm allows an artist to acertain the competence of an opponent or other target whom she may observe. The artist's player lists a number of pieces of information she wishes to acertain about the target and the order of priority in which they come. She then makes a Perception + Martial Arts roll and may receive the answers to a number of questions equal to her successes. Possible questions include: Permanent Essence (higher, lower or equal to the questioner's) Preferred combat ability Level of combat ability Number of form charms known Which form charms are known (each form requires 1 additional success) This information comes from an examination of the Target's stance and as such has limited potential beyond the assessment of combat. NOTE: All other Martial Arts styles could/should be assumed to have an equivalent charm in their own tree.
Spider's Will

Type: Simple (Requires a Stunt)
After describing a non combat planning stunt (ie coming up with detailed plans to enact almost anything) the artist may make an Intelligence + Martial Arts roll at difficulty 3. Successes become effective point of luck for the duration of the plan. This charm may only be performed inside a web however the luck lasts until the plan comes to fruition even if it leads outside the area of a web. This Charm usually takes a day to perform however the duration can be altered by a particulary spangly stunt.
Spider's Grace

Type: Reflexive
This charm allows the user to add her Martial Arts to her dodge pool against any attack she is aware of. If the artist has used her actions for the turn and would not usually have the opportunity to dodge, she may roll her Martial Arts score as a dodge attempt. However this charm does not allow a dodge against attacks that specifically may not be dodged.
After learning this Charm, when the artist is in one of her webs she is automatically considered to be aware of any attacks against her. This ability is always active, without cost and represents an enhancement of her natural abilities, as with Ox-Body Technique.
Spider's Bite

The character makes a Martial Arts attack as normal and any damage rolled (up to a maximum of her Appearance score) becomes aggravated. Levels of damage dealt beyond this are considered lethal.
Spider's Leap

The character may leap Strength x 5 feet vertically or twice that horizontally and make an attack in that round, dropping from the sky onto their target or slashing past them. The character's Atheltics score is added to the raw damage for this attack. Within a web the leaping distance for this attack is doubled.
