Expanded Advantages

Backgrounds

  • Allies: His younger sister, Emerald Flower. She still writes and sends him money, when Alek manages to stay put long enough for her to find him. Unlike most his brothers (who're all vying to be the new favorite son) and sisters (who tend to listen to their father's every word), Emerald Flower knows her brother means well, even if he has a nasty temper (which she really doesn't know the half of anymore). Possible sheet forthcomming, if I get really bored.
  • Influence: Not really very focused, but with such a huge trading family, some people will recognize Alek's last name, if he drops it to them, and with enough luck (and lies), he can make himself seem more important than he is.
  • Mentor: Breath of Infinity, Siderial Chosen of Endings. Despite the fact that he's reaching the end of his life-span, he's still very fit. He drops in often on Alek, to both offer advice and harass our young hero. Possible sheet forthcomming.
  • Resources: Despite the general angriness of family ties, Alek still gets some small cash from a variety of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and, of course, his mother, whenever Emerald Flower lets them know where he is. Alek also works as mercenary, and manages to save most of the money he makes (the part he doesn't give away, or get taken from him by Breath of Infinity).

Merits and Flaws

  • Ambidexterous: Not much to say here. Alek may fight with both hands without penalty. It was an in-born ability, rather than a learned one.
  • Wanted: Given the prowess of a Solar as compared to mortals, this should be higher. However, most local authorities who've investigated the matter notice that a lot of his antics usually end with donations to the poor. Unless he stops doing this, or someone brings him in tied down, the authorities aren't going to step up their actions against him.

Background

The Tehtierzech family have been traders since the first age - an ancient family of merchants and traders (and some whisper, theives and killers). They've found a modicum of exceptance in the Dynastic courts, living happily spread out across the earth.

Alek was one of five boys in this clan's generation - and barely the oldest, by little more than a few days. He was, unlike many of his brothers, a very vibrant youth. He was always one for getting into fights, never able to seem to keep calm. He had a talent for combat (well, rather, making others look like fools in combat and occasionally hitting them), his hot head only slated him for a role in the Vermillion Leigon, if that.

Alek was an avid martial arts student. He had found a mentor at the time, an older gentleman who specialized in training avid students like Alek. Alek's exaltation came during one of his training sessions, the old man specifically pushing him to his absolute limit. Alek attempted to flee him, as he was convinced the elder would report him as an Anathema. As it turned out, his sensei was something of an anathema himself - a truely venerable Sidereal, living out his last days in luxary.

Things haven't been quite the same since. Alek returned home, but his heightened prowess made his family suspicious. After a few arguments and accusations between Alek and his father, Alek set out. Given his martial prowess, he manages to find work very easily. Still, there's the gnawing feeling that he's wasting his talents.

Character Description

Alek's about six feet tall, thin but muscular. He dresses in dark colours - browns and blacks in particular - as fitting his profession. The metal of his gauntlets have been covered with black cloth over their main parts, to help him stand out a little less. His chain shirt is worn under his clothes, when worn at all. His black hair seems to spike naturally, though any kind of extensive work-out or good amount of rain will see it plastered to his head. He's usually grinning, though it's context may change as the situation fits it.

Unlike many of the more serious, grim minded Night castes about creation, Alek's got a light-hearted nature about him. It's largely a facade - the weight of the world always seems to weigh on the young man's mind, he's just adept at hiding it. Even when working, he's one for chuckling, pointing out something to his allies, and going back to his task with a grin. Taking things in stride is what he specializes in.

Commentary

Typically, the 'anima' bit at the top of a character sheet is where you write a desc of a character's iconic anima, wheras 'anima effects' somewhere near the bottom left, is where you write what he can do due to caste-based anima powers. Still, a quick-ref such as this fits better with all the stats, and you could include a desc of the anima along with his physical description if you're going to write one.
