How can that not matter? Each and every one of us should feel empowered to make value judgements regarding game elements. You're not a calculating engine; your opinions extend past mechanical balancing issues, as well they should. - Quendalon
- Let me rephrase that: it only matters in games which I run, because then my opinion becomes, ipso facto, objective truth. If, on the other hand, I'm discussing it with multiple anonymous Exalted fans online, it doesn't matter because it is just my opinion; moreover, it is an opinion which is obviously not shared by the people responsible for writing and approving said Charms, so the playing field is biased against me from the start. When I'm running Exalted, my viewpoint trumps all others; when I'm talking about it with other Exalted fans, the rules as they are written are assumed to comprise the "correct" way to play the game, as they must be for any rational discussion to take place.\\
- But us multiple anonymous Exalted fans *also* run games, and we too subjugate canonical viewpoints to our own opinions. As someone who runs an Exalted game, what I enjoy most is seeing what other people, like yourself, make of the setting and system. Your opinions, my opinions, and the opinions of all the other fans who frequent forums like the Wiki all feed upon one another in a great chaotic feedback loop of creativity. I like it that way just fine, and I value your opinion more than most. - Quendalon
