Hey everyone, gather round for a moment, and let's chat a bit about your artifacts and keeping them concealed.
I don't think you should be penalized for this, and since your elders have been doing this for centuries, lets assume they have imparted a few things to you for keeping your powerful weapons handy: (All of the below are available to you, I am open to discussion on any of it.)
1) You are generally encouraged to have a mundane weapon with you on missions if you are in deep cover. You may purchase these in creation or in yu-shan. (You may do this in the future, or retrofit. If it makes a cool scene and you want to post it to the IC thread as appropriate, great, if not, just put the synopsis in the OOC thread and add it to your character sheet on the wiki.) You may purchase any normal item in creation that you have the resources for. (I think you all have levels 4/5 resources in creation through your salary, so buy whatever you want.)
You may purchase a god-made item in Yu-shan, these are exceptional items per the thaumatergy chapter in the PG, for the same resources cost as it would have in creation, but use your Yu-Shan resources value. (You may make 1 purchase per month at you maximum Yu-Shan resources amount, but that means you won't be hosting any feasts, and you're probably living on the Yu-Shan equivelent of Raman Noodles that month.)
Alternatively, you may purchase a superior God-Made item in yu-shan as well. These should probably have a paragraph od description to go with them, and cost 1 dot higher than the listed resources cost would be, also in Yu-Shan resources. These items may be built along the Perfect Item rules under thaumatergy in the PG.
2) Concealing your weapons/armor/etc.
You may have a carrying case/scabbard/hideaway for any of your handheld items, including Daiklaives. The concealing device should be of appropriate size. For example: Strife could certainly have a concealng case for his daiklaive that looks like (and act like) a normal staff, but with two quick twists and a flourish reveals Harmonic Cutter to a surprised and soon to be decapitated foe. Please take a paragraph either here or on the wiki (preferably both) to describe your concealing case. Other examples might be an instrument case, a large backpack, etc.
I will make the ruling on this that it is similar to discarding your RD. Out of combat you may reveal your weapon reflexively, in combat, it will require 1 dice action, unless you put in a cool description. (With the staff case I see many possibilities.) The cool description negates the dice action requirement.
3) Spells:
If someone uses Disguise of the new face on you, or another charm of disguise or somesuch, you may chose what your stuff looks like as well. It will probably tip off essence weilders that something is fishy if you are blocking smashfists and leaving huge gaping wounds with a paintbrush, but I'll roll those as appropriate.
Also, let's introduce a new spell:
Kejak's hidden blade Terestrial Circle Sorcery Cost: 10 motes When Chejop Kejak was still a young sorcerer in training, he carried a Daiklaive, now lost called Destiny's Calling. It was an ancient thing of great power forged by the Mountain folk from the essence of divinities who were captured aiding the Yozi's in the Great War. However, as much as he enjoyed having the blade, he found it drew much attention both from mortals and from gods in Yu-Shan who had known the benefactors of its alloy. Thus he created a spell that cause the threads of fate's perception to fall away from a given item. This spell is used primarily by Sidereals, though it may have been taught by the gold to a few newly arisin solars. (I could do a better description, but I have to finish up and get to a meeting.)
System: The sorcerer rolls intelligence + occult and adds a number of automatic successes to the result equal to his essence. This represents the difficulty of anyone to detect the item in question. Only a being with awakened essence can even attempt to detect something hidden by this spell.
4) Armor, you can cover armor with clothing, and/or paint. Just clothing will reveal the armor after 3 lethal health levels of damage have been inflicted on you. Paint means your all set.
