Here are the resources for my game, simply entitled "Children of the Realm"
It will begin with the characters as Dynast children attending boarding school. Things will start normally and several school-based stories will be run, before things start to get unusual.
First, the political scroungings of their parents will become more and more obvious, and the thought of the imminent collapse of the Realm will begin to worm its way into their minds.
Then, unusual things will begin happening in their provence. Fair folk artifacts begin to appear in students' posessions, signalling a fundamental weakness in the Wyld Hunt. Word reaches the city that Mask of Winters is on the move again, his mighty fortress crawling ever closer to the coast of the inner sea. Fear and doubt hurt trade, and children at the school are suddenly in a vulnerable position.
Eventually, Mask of Winters or an allied Deathlord invades the City, (Which will be placed opposite the sea from Thorns) destroying everything not of value to his undead horde and mercilessly enslaving the souls of the inhabitants.
The children will be saved from the destruction by someone they knew as a friend and confidante, now evidently one of the Solar Anathema. During their flight around the world from their pursuers, they will explore the reaches of Creation and meet other Anathema, challenging their inbred belief that they are evil. The end of this campaign is marked by the exaltation of the children, into any caste that suits the GM (Not fully decided myself).
I've divided it into several subcatagories:
AlaronChildrenOfTheRealm/InitialSetting - The school, the social climate, etc.
AlaronChildrenOfTheRealm/TheNPCs - Speaks for itself, I should think
AlaronChildrenOfTheRealm/SchoolStoryIdeas - Possible things that may transpire during the course of the campaign
AlaronChildrenOfTheRealm/PostSchoolIdeas - Things that may happen after their escape from the Isle
The campaign is designed for beginning roleplayers (of which I have one or two), to allow them to get the hang of roleplaying in general before the advanced charms/power combat stuff is implemented. It will, however suit people of any experience and should provide a great start to any long-running game if the players like the feel of the Dynasty vs the rest of Creation.
Please leave any comments/suggestions here, fresh ideas are always welcome!
Well i have been running a DB game for a while now based on the School of Bells, it was my original intention that the PC's would have their prelude - including their Exaltation whilst attending the School in Arjuf. Players being players however, what was ment to be a short 2 to 3 months of prelude total (5 players at the time) turned into a full on campain as they started interacting and doing the things that players do to derail the story teller. Sad to say that the game has gone really well, but now the players have just graduated and have just left the School. The game will continue on with many story plots unraveling as we do so but i must admit i'm a little sad that after a couple of years of playing, the School series has now come to an end. it is great fun if done correctly, from instructors with a grudge, other students with more 'clout' bullying the PC's, Training camps outside the school where anything goes, and the inevitable social events where you can usualy rely on at least one of my players botching a roll / getting into a duel etc. Ah the fun of it!! Yea.. That was sort of the original intent of this game too, although I was stuck at the start on whether or not to exalt them as Solars instead. I had intended them to leave the school after a while, it ended up being fast-tracked for some reason. Possibly because one of the players was leaving and I wanted her to have a decent oppertunity to play a DB, so the attack happened and she went "pop" as a fire-aspect. That was aaages ago though. I feel guilty for not maintaining this, they since travelled west, then north, then underground for a bit, became exalted as solars, went in an airship to nexus, went to YuShan (bastards, I hated running that), and then jumped into downtime. So, the original setting had less influence upon their decisions than I'd have liked. Ah well, the game's fun, so I'm indifferent. - Alaron
