Declaration of Angst
- Cost: 2 motes per 1L damage
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Re-Useless
- Minimum Performance: 3
- Minimum Moe: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Performance Insight of the Lolita
The Gothic Lolita speaks, her words overflowing with negative thoughts and feelings. Those who hear them are so overwhelmed with the angst that it actually hurts. Each listener suffers 1L for every 2 motes spent on the Charm, up to a maximum damage equal to the Lolita’s Moe. This damage leaves no physical mark and is only soaked with Stamina. Soak-boosting Charms do not work against this Charm for the same reason. However, damage may be negated by Charms that explicitly protect against non-physical damage (like the Gothic Lolita Thrown Charm Black Widow Defense Style). Characters can only use this Charm once per turn, although they make activate it on subsequent turns to continue their speech unabated. Nonliving beings and the deaf are immune to this Charm.
Depressing Minuet
- Cost: 2 motes per 1L damage, 1 Willpower
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Re-Useless
- Minimum Performance: 4
- Minimum Moe: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Declaration of Angst
The Lolita’s angst can do a lot more than just pain. It may also break through cuteness and happiness unabated, making even the most cheerful Exalts break to torrents of tears. This Charm mimics the effects of Declaration of Angst, except for the following differences. First, Depressing Minuet can only affect one target. The character utters one single sentence, so shocking and embarrassing that it shakes the core of the victim’s soul. In addition to the damage dealt, the victim also loses 1 point of temporary Willpower, and the player of the victim must immediately roll Willpower at standard difficulty. Success means the victim takes a -1 penalty to all dice rolls for the rest of the scene. Failure means the victim takes the penalty and loses an additional point of temporary Willpower. A botch on the roll increases the dice pool penalty to -3, inflicts a point of temporary Willpower and the victim loses a point of permanent Willpower.
This Charm can be put in a Combo with Charms of other abilities.
Serenade of Agony
- Cost: 1 mote per 1L damage
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Performance: 5
- Minimum Moe: 3
- Prerequisite Charms: Declaration of Angst
Even the Lolita’s voice is a terrifying weapon. The Lolita opens her mouth and releases a sound, whichever she prefers: a piercing glass-shattering shriek, a sad and depressing song or whatever. In any case, her voice becomes a powerful sonic blast. The character’s player rolls Manipulation + Performance to hit every target within range, inflicting a base damage of 1L per mote of Moe spent. Extra successes add as normal. This attack cannot be parried, only dodged, and may be soaked only with Stamina and other natural soak enhancers. Serenade of Agony covers a circular area of (Performance x 10) yards radius, centered on the Loli. A Gothic Lolita cannot spend more motes powering this Charm than her Stamina + Moe.
Elegant Performance
- Cost: 2 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Performance: 2
- Minimum Moe: 1
- Prerequisite Charms: Performance Insight of the Lolita
Gothic Lolitas may not be naturally entertaining or emotive like Bishonen or Magical Girls, but they’re elegant and their mere presence draws attention. This Charm grants a character a 3-die specialty in some subset of performance for the rest of the scene. The player cannot choose a specialty the character already has, but different specialties stack if both apply to a particular roll.
Distracting Needle of Spite
- Cost: 1 mote per die
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Re-Useless
- Minimum Performance: 2
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Elegant Performance
As usual, Gothic Lolitas excel at humiliating others. A character may activate this Charm in response to another creature’s Performance roll. The Lolita subtly draws the target’s attention and spoils her concentration, reducing her Attribute + Performance dice pool by one die per mote spent. This Charm cannot reduce a target’s dice pool below her permanent Moe. The player of the Gothic Lolita must declare the use of this Charm before the player of the target makes the Performance roll.
Attention Born of Fear Style
- Cost: 5 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Performance: 2
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Performance Insight of the Lolita
With this Charm, Gothic Lolitas may instantly command fear and respect from a crowd. The audience may not like her performance or believe her words, but the Lolita is scary enough to make them know better than to heckle or depart before the end of the show. Some disturbed fools may actually find her even more alluring as a result of her dangerous edge. This Charm works without fail on non-magical beings. Magical beings roll (Willpower + Moe) against the Lolita’s (Attribute + Performance, as appropriate) to resist this effect. Even in the case of a failure, Exalts and other supernatural beings may resist this compulsion for five minutes by spending a point of temporary Willpower, up to a maximum of three Willpower points per scene, and such resistance allows the target to leave, heckle or even forcibly silence the character.
Stop the Music
- Cost: 4 motes
- Duration: Instant
- Type: Re-Useless
- Minimum Performance: 3
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Attention Born of Fear Style
With a flick of her wrist, the Lolita summons an uncomfortable silence that distracts those around her. Every character other than the Lolita (this Charm affects friends and foes alike) takes a -2 penalty to all actions for the remainder of the turn. If the Lolita attacks a character after she’s used this Charm, the target must roll Wits + Awareness as if she had been ambushed.
Stop the Music also counters and negates the effect of the Bishonen Charm Theme Music. This Charm can be part of a Combo with Charms of other abilities.
Gothic Stage Setup
- Cost: 5 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Performance: 4
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Attention Born of Fear Style
With the proper choice of depressing words and humiliating taunts, the world around her darkens and acquires a distinctively gothic setting with many shades of grey and chilling breezes at the appropriate moments. Such a setting is more likely to be quite inappropriate to the performance taking place at the moment; those performing take a penalty to their Performance score equal to the Lolita’s Moe. On the rare occasion the setting is appropriate to the performance in process, the penalty becomes a bonus.
Heart-Twisting Words
- Cost: 6 motes
- Duration: One scene
- Type: SubtleTheKawaiiEdition/LolitaPerformance/Mental
- Minimum Performance: 5
- Minimum Moe: 2
- Prerequisite Charms: Gothic Stage Setup
Manipulation is a sport for the Gothic Lolitas. To them, inflaming or hardening the feelings of others is a delightful pleasure and a practice they master and enjoy like an art. The character speaks with smoldering fervor or cold certainty, lending supernatural conviction to her words and mannerisms, and hiding the fact that feelings are nothing but tools for her. The Lolita’s player selects an emotion and rolls Manipulation + Performance at difficulty 2. If the desired emotion is innately opposed to the concept of kawaiiness, this roll is made at standard difficulty.
Targets whose Willpower score is less than the number of successes rolled are completely overwhelmed by the emotional onslaught and act accordingly. Targets wil a Willpower less than twice the number of successes rolled may make a Willpower roll at standard difficulty to resist the emotion. Individuals whose Willpower exceeds twice the successes rolled are completely unaffected. The emotional tampering caused by this Charm only lasts for one scene, although low Temperance characters may continue to indulge themselves for some time afterward, at the Storyteller’s discretion.
This Charm can also induce apathy, rather than passion. This requires the same roll, but affected characters find themselves emotionally numbed. Everything feels crushingly bleak and hollow. This effect can be used to quell riots, as apathetic mobs quickly lose inertia and disperse. This apathy is VERY likely to at the very least increase Bishonen Limit; the same way passion aimed at a Gothic Lolita is very likely to increase Irony.
Saintly Girl Territory
- Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower
- Duration: (Moe) days
- Type: Speech
- Minimum Performance: 5
- Minimum Moe: 4
- Prerequisite Charms: Heart-Twisting Words, Depressing Minuet, Serenade of Agony
The Gothic Lolita makes a long speech, declaring the place where she stands as “Saintly Girl Territory”. Rivulets of black and crimson Moe twist and wrap around themselves, falling like a dark rain over all things the character can see. Creatures and objects look darker and colder to the touch, creatures also looking sadder and more prone to sad monologues and droning meditations on the meaning of life and whether existence has a point. Everything and everything within the enchanted area opposes to the concept of kawaiiness. The Gothic Lolita rolls Performance. The Lolita gains at least one success, even if she doesn’t score any successes on the roll. All Exalts other than Gothic Lolitas take a penalty equal to the number of successes from all rolls to affect places and creatures enchanted by this Charm. Rolls made by enchanted creatures to defend against Exalts other than Gothic Lolitas add bonus dice equal to the successes rolled. The Saintly Girl Terriroty extends as far as the Lolita's eyes can see, to a maximum of (her Moe x 100) yards.
