History
Prior to Exaltation: Arkadi has been a copper for as long as he can remember. He grew up in Lookshy as a citizen. His father was a smith, his mother a merchant. When his tour of duty came on, he served with distinction in one of the 7th legion’s field forces, and eventually found himself as a military policeman. Once the term ended, he arranged to be transferred to the Justice Directorate. While in many ways the work jaded him, with the constant exposure of an otherwise healthy city’s criminal underbelly, deep within his heart he truly loved the work. He had a healthy dose of street-level pragmatism, as well as a heavy disregard for pompous, second-guessing desk-driving bureaucrats.
Post- Exaltation: Arkadi has not changed much. Theoretically, he’s a member of the Crimson Panapoly of Victory, but he really tends to find himself on temporary loan to whatever department needs the services of a trained policeman. Yu-Shan itself, while at first wondrous, tends to grate on Arkadi’s nerves. The sheer amount of bureaucracy, combined with the favour-currying and sheer opulence of the city tends to clash rather drastically with his more…street-level upbringing. This combined with the rampant corruption and the wanton disregard for the ‘real world’ (read: Creation) that most gods hold tends to further reinforce Arkadi’s dismal opinion of the great city; he greatly prefers the company of mortals to the company of the gods. Furthermore, the arcane fate has made him somewhat melancholy, As such, he’s become the shadow-partner in a small bar located within the 100 kingdoms, frequented by the militiamen of that town. He often goes there when he needs ‘to get away from that gold-riddled, over-opulent cesspool’, as he puts it. Still, he’s a good cop who’s almost impossible to bribe for anything of importance (Though a good sandwich will always help him overlook an illegally moored Dragonboat). He’s staunchly independent, refusing to take sides in the constant feud of Gold versus Bronze, mainly due to his own distaste for politics.
Description
Appearance: Arkadi keeps himself as neat and clean as possible, though with the long hours he liked working, this isn’t always possible. He’s 34 years old, with short brown hair that’s just beginning to get shot through with grey, and sleepy brown eyes. He tends to wear serviceable, function-first clothing, which only serves to make him look rather drab and dull compared to the average Yu-Shan denizen. He maintains his equipment to a very high standard, knowing it could very well save his life at some point.
Personality :Arkadi is the quintessential bastard. He voices his opinions quite candidly, is a confirmed smartass, complains non-stop. Still, he's got a soft spot for mortals, believes firmly in the spirit, if not the letter, of the law, and has zero problems with not only saying loudly what he believes in, but backing it up with action. Deep down, Arkadi is quite loyal to those he considers friends, and is far more soft-hearted than he'd ever show.
Relationships
- Esara Gia: Arkadi doesn't much care for Gia, and assumes the feeling is mutual. Their different personalities, approaches to life and work and general backgrounds ensure that the two neither get along very well, nor feel much of need to bridge any gaps.
- Malic: Malic is the closest thing Arkadi has to a friend in the circle. While the two have rather...opposing backgrounds, they have enough in common to put Arkadi's mind at ease. That said, Malic's smartass demeanor does tend to irritate Arkadi somewhat.
- Merciful Osprey: Arkadi gets along fine with Osprey. He does find the man a little too inclined towards diplomacy at times, which tends to push the former police officer's 'suspicious bastard' buttons. Otherwise he appreciates the Blue's approach to certain matters, even if he doens't seem to show it.
- Hollow Moth: Arkadi has fairly friendly relations with the young Chosen of Endings. He's very grateful to be in close proximity to someone from his hometown he actually GETS ALONG with.

Watchman Nahuel Ean, The Cop Next Door. In this guise, he wears a grubby, well-worn uniform of the local militia. His armour is dull and functional, his boots scuffed, worn and comfortable, and his eyes half-lidded but alert. He is approachable, honorable and completely trustworthy.

Artifacts and Such
Band of the Alert Watchman (Artifact 1) A simple Starmetal / bronze alloy ring that sizes itself to fit its wearer. Aside from the metals used in its alloy, it is completely unremarkable in any way. In the First Age, bands such as these were given to Sidereal investigators to aid them in their duties. There were occasionally times when astrology was too risky or plain impossible to use when attempting to find a fleeing criminal, demon, or fae. Thus, these rings were imbued with 2 drops of blood from the finest police officers in all Creation. The first drop represented the officer’s ability to track their target through many blocks, districts and towns, if necessary. The other drop represented the toughness of the beat cop who actually had to arrest a potentially dangerous criminal.
