I don't have the player's guide, but the core rules describe cesti as leather straps with metal studs wrapped around a hand like fingerless gloves. On the other hand, figting gauntlets are "either articulated metal gloves or full-hand leather gloves covered in overlapping metal plates." I understand that Speed doesn't necessarily mean Speed anymore, but one of these descriptions sure sounds a lot faster than the other. - Kicker
According to the definition in the PG of Speed and Rate, Speed is reach, and Rate is maneuverability. Given those definitions, these two weapons should have comparable speeds, but the Cestus might be more maneuverable. - Toram
