Missionary to Ancient Brothers
From the writings of Foundation Apex, archivist to Ledaal Visaren of Tuchara:
Among the most cryptic figures from the First Age, the Missionary to Ancient Brothers first appeared under that name shortly after the Usurpation. Cloaked and hooded, he shielded his identity from all whom he dealt with, revealing only a squat and heavy frame, a bass voice, and a smell of oil and rust. He served as an aide to Ausang Torokanu and, later, to Raikuru the First and other Shoguns. Later, he shared lore with the survivors of the Contagion that might otherwise have been lost: locations of critical artifacts, command codes, techniques of Essence manipulation. However, he fell in with the Seven Tigers, and we believe that the Scarlet Empress destroyed him early in her reign.
By correlating his emergence with the last known locales of various constructs at the end of the First Age, I believe that the Missionary is, in fact, the construct XAC, constructed by Rage of Seraphs in Old Jin during the Late Resplendent Period, as a challenge to the Council of Magical Constructs. XAC is believed to have trucked with other mechanical entities from beyond Creation – Fair Folk, demons, and stranger creatures of which all knowledge has been lost. I leave discussion of this strange, self-willed machine to other chroniclers.
