Stamina Hybrid Charms
Stamina Charms are based around fortifying the body and adapting it to dangerous conditions, allowing the Lunars to easily survive what the world throws at them. These Charms are sometimes, but sometimes not, Obvious in nature.
Adaptation
Gills of the Fish</b>
<b>Cost: 2 motes Mins: Stamina 2, Essence 1 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid, Obvious Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring
The character grows gills along the sides of his throat, enabling him to easily breathe underwater. The character may breathe water as easily as he breathes air.
Breath of Wind</b>
<b>Cost: 2 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 3 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Gills of the Fish
The character prepares herself, allowing himself to go for a seeming eternity without breath. The character may hold his breath for up to (their natural Stamina + Essence) hours, regardless of the situation; underwater, in an air-sealed room, surrounded by poison gas, and so on. The character must expel breath to speak, which will limit such activity, but speaking does not reduce the time allowed before the character need breathe again.
Camel's Stomach Manuever</b>
<b>Cost: 2 motes Mins: Stamina 2, Essence 2 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring
Food is not a major concern for the Lunar Exalted. They can go up to (their natural Stamina + Essence) in days with only the amount of food and water they would need in a day, and suffer no long-term ill effects for not balancing diet. Finally, they gain a strong stomach, adding their Essence in extra dice on rolls to resist ingested poisons and diseases gained from eating bad food.
Shark-Swimming Sleep</b>
<b>Cost: 2 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 2 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring
The character gains the ability to stay active while sleeping, like a shark. The character must spend two hours each night in partial sleep. During this time, all actions are at -3 dice and the character will seem extremely drowsy to onlookers. The character may 'wake' from this state with a successful Willpower roll at difficulty 2 or through enough noise and motion to wake a sleeping person, which affects them exactly as waking from sleep does.
Hazard-Resisting Frame</b>
<b>Cost: 4 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 3 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring, any Stamina Hybrid Charm
The dangers of the world are no threat to the Lunar Exalted. As long as this Charm is active, they add their Essence in automatic successes to all rolls to resist environmental damage, and increase their bashing, lethal, and aggravated soak against environmental hazards by their Essence.
Protection and Recovery
Skin of the Wolf</b>
<b>Cost: 3 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 1 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring
The character speeds Essence through his skin, empowering himself to resist hardships. The character may soak Lethal damage with her full current Stamina, and may use half her current Stamina to soak Aggravated damage.
Armadillo Plates</b>
<b>Cost: 4 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 2 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid, Obvious Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Skin of the Wolf
The character grows great armoured plates, protecting her from harm. She gains +6B/L soak and +3A soak, as well as Hardness 4. If the character has Hardness from another source higher than 4, increase it by 1 instead. This soak increase is fully compatible with armour, although if the character is not wearing magical material armour, she may damage it by her sudden increase in mass.
Stone Skin Technique</b>
<b>Cost: 5 motes Mins: Stamina 4, Essence 3 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid, Obvious Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Armadillo Plates
The character's skin takes on the consistancy of stone, protecting her entirely from weak blows. The character gains Hardness equal to her natural Stamina + Essence. This does not stack with Hardness granted by other sources unless they specifically increase existing Hardness.
Lizard's Skin Recovery</b>
<b>Cost: 4 motes Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 1 Type: Reflexive Keywords: Hybrid, Obvious Duration: Indefinate Prerequisites: Stamina Enduring
The character's skin knits back together gradually, recovering from even the worst blow. The character heals one level of bashing damage every five ticks, and one level of lethal damage each hour. Aggravated damage cannot be healed more quickly through the use of this Charm. This Charm is Obvious only while the character is injured and healing.
Worm Tail Restoration</b>
<b>Cost: None Mins: Stamina 3, Essence 3 Type: Reflexive Keywords: None Duration: Permanent Prerequisites: Lizard's Skin Recovery
The character's healing powers become even more impressive. This Charm permanently enhances Lizard's Skin Recovery. The character now recovers one Bashing damage per tick, and one Lethal damage per five ticks. Aggravated damage remains unaffected.
Comments
Very nice, I like the way this is going. A few specific comments:
- Camel's Stomach Manuever: Actually adding Essence in autosuccesses is quite powerful, as this will render pretty much immune most poisons. That doesn't seem to be the focus of the charm, so I'd make it Essence in bonus dice instead.
- Hazard-Resisting Frame: How much is the soak increase? Essence? Stamina?
- Stone Skin Technique: The one difficulty with this is that you can use hybrid charms normally, correct? If you used this charm while in the form of a River Dragon or something, you could easily end up with Hardness in the 15+ range, which seems a bit much.(I've never seen a good answer to if piercing affects hardness. If it does, this should be ok. ) I'm not sure how to fix that though.
- Alrighty...
- 1) Good point. Will do so.
- 2) Eheh. Essence. Internalized the idea a bit much, perhaps. ^^;;
- 3) Oof, another internalization (or rather, the problem with only having finished a fraction of the Charmsets). Similarly to how the hybrid form doesn't count Attribute bonuses as natural, shapeshifted forms aren't going to count Attribute ratings as natural, both because (a) that makes forms like Tyrant Lizards devastating to an absurd degree, and because (b) I like the idea of a tiny creature doing something absurdly powerful through a Strength Charm or ignoring brutal attacks. I've gone through and noted which Charms use 'natural' Stamina and which Charms use 'current' Stamina, that should fix things. :) - FrivYeti
I'm wondering if Lizard's Skin / Worm's Tail might be a bit clumsy in practice. Essentially, during battle, you'd need to keep track of not only what ticks you act on, but also what ticks you heal on. Overall, I like them, but I don't know if I would want the extra paperwork while playing. - ErykTheRed
- I'd have to test it to see how bad it was, but that's why I stuck with nice round 5s for the regeneration procedure. Aligning it to actions, IMO, is a bad idea, since it means that faster Lunars get more of an advantage (as do those who Guard or Dash around). - FrivYeti
- Another possibility would be to make healing an action in itself, at Speed 3. I know that's not quite what you were looking for, you were trying to represent that sort of unstoppable beast, healing before your eyes. This would have a different feel, a different image to it, as this special healing would require exertion. That'd be one solution. -ErykTheRed
