Sorrana, the Shortness of One's Reach

Sorrana was a dream of Hegra long ago. She slept among lovers, and when she woke the lovers could not reach each other, though they tried, they tried. Sorrana is the nightmare of helplessness, the fear that the things one cares about are out of their reach - she is the lover who slips from one's grasp over a cliff edge, the scream as one's family is carried away. She is the knowledge that no matter how great one's power, there is always a limit to one's reach, and she is the manifestation of that fact.
She appears as not a figure, but as a twisting of space; she is gap that cannot be closed, the stairs that stretch on forever. Her speech is cries in the voice that you know most intimately, have heard whisper words on a pillow or in a cradle. She can take a physical form, though she rarely chooses, and if so every being sees her as the loss they feel most keenly. She may also appear as the mists that flow around Hegra's storms, blinding those in them to each other, making them struggle through binding airs towards the silhouettes of those they love.
She knows the minds and the loves of those she meets, and she is more than willing to make them think that their love is lost forever, or to make it true. She can put anything out of someone's reach, although it will always be in sight, taunting the being that cannot reach it. If a sorcerer binds her, she can find what the loves of his enemies are, she can put those loves out of reach, she will know how to strike most keenly, and she will be able to do so. Those afflicted by her nightmares will grasp for something that they cannot reach, weeping.
