Enoch, the Murmuring in the Shadows

Enoch was a dream of Hegra long ago. She slept in a dark and empty place, and when she woke the darkness had swallowed the emptiness. Enoch is the nightmare of everything that cannot be seen, the whispering in the shadows, the scratching in the darkness, the malevolent murmur of the night. He is the primal, inescapable fear of the unknown that springs from the deepest, oldest part of every soul and mind.
Those unlucky enough to be in the presence of Enoch cannot escape their fear, cannot overcome it, for they do not know what it is they face. The brightest light cannot dispel his shadows, and screaming will not drown out his whispers. He leaves victims quivering and weeping, incapable of anything but fear. He cannot be seen, except as a shadow moving out the corner of one's eye, or as the scrapes left by scuttling claws; to those with perfect sight and legendary bravery, he may be imagined to be seen for brief moments as the outline of a huge sleek centipede with a thousand eyes on each leg, a chitinous thing that makes creaks between his armor plates as he moves, that scrapes his claws across the ground as he flits around with the speed of sight. He may also take the form of the winds that accompany Hegra, the whispering nothing that is everything and nowhere.
Enoch can appear in the depths of any shadow, and he can spread fear until he breaks minds - any sorceror who chooses to bring him into the world must first conquer their own terror if they do not wish to be wholly consumed by it. In the first age, a terrible sorceror-king summoned him to punish his servitors, and an entire city perished weeks later from the lack of sleep that their quivering terror inflicted.
