The Ship Has Landed....

  • Storyteller: You’re looking out into the foggy harbor and need some way to get out there." Preempting your needs one of HG's men has brought a small row boat over
  • Storyteller: and is ready to row you out
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain gets into the boat and nods to the rower
  • Storyteller: and you're wary but they're not attacking you
  • Storyteller: someone is approaching from shore
  • Miakonda: *looks behind her and shouts to her captain* Someone's coming, looks like just one though...
  • Winter Rain: About halfway out, he shouts, "Hail the ship!"
  • Storyteller: theres movement on the ship
  • Storyteller: it appears undamaged
  • Storyteller: captain orders you to drop the white flag of parley
  • Miakonda: *scampers over to get the flag and hangs it from the front* we're not but humble pirates...
  • Winter Rain: *blinks*
  • Winter Rain: "Pirates?"
  • Miakonda: *didn't say that really loud...*
  • Miakonda: *sits on the railing by the flag and watches the ship come up*
  • Winter Rain: Shouts again. "Hail!"
  • Winter Rain: The rowboat is almost at the ship by now
  • Miakonda: *holds up her hand* Hail townsman!
  • Winter Rain: "You're lucky to have escaped the storm and the Realm so unharmed!"
  • Miakonda: When you are with the sea you rely on luck often. What port is this?
  • Storyteller: the port's name is Sun's Grasp
  • Winter Rain: "We call it 'Sun's Grasp!' "
  • Miakonda: WIll you permit us to dock, we have need of rest and supplies
  • Winter Rain: "Of course."
  • Winter Rain: *muttered* "They'd better not be pirates...I hate pirates..."
  • Miakonda: We thank ye *jumps off the railing and to the deck of the ship* oy! Captain, they're willin'!
  • Miakonda: *smirks over her shoulder towards the man in the boat and says to herself* not for this port, anyway...
  • Winter Rain: Snaps his fingers to the rower
  • Storyteller: c'apin sends walks over, his first mate and burns with him Storyteller: he asks you to report
  • Miakonda: *she nods with a grin and follows Burns and Walks to the row boat*
  • Miakonda: *up close she is completely white, from head to toe, save her red eyes*
  • Miakonda: We poor sailors can't thank you enough, townsman.
  • Winter Rain: "Of course. Serving travelers in from storms is part of our job here."
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain, up close, is an obviously Westerner, with bright blue hair and golden skin
  • Miakonda: *on her arms and along parts of her neck small silver tracks, like rabbit tracks left in the snow, glint*
  • Winter Rain: "Why was the Realm after you?" he asks casually as the boat rows towards the docks
  • Miakonda: They're always after ships that aren't the Guild
  • Winter Rain: He nods, more to himself than to her
  • Miakonda: *glances back to Walk and Burns*
  • Winter Rain: At the docks, he waits until the rower ties the boat up before stepping out and turning back to the others
  • Miakonda: *leaps up onto the docks without aid, but nods thanks to him*
  • Winter Rain: *frowns slightly* "This way, if you will."
  • Miakonda: We're indebt to you, good sir *bows slightly to him and follows*
  • Winter Rain: Walks up the slight incline towards the city proper
  • Miakonda: *follows, admiring the town*
  • Storyteller: the town is quaint, stone huts and lots of villiagers
  • Storyteller: but its small
  • Winter Rain: "Is there any service you would like to be shown? An inn, perhaps, or a shrine to the Storm Mothers?"
  • Miakonda: I think we'll be able to find our way around the town...
  • Winter Rain: "Of course. Now, if you will excuse me, I have duties I must perform..."
  • Miakonda: *grins* sure!
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain walks back to the temple, thinking to himself, "Silver tattoos...where have I heard of silver tattoos before..."
  • Miakonda: *leads the two men off to explore the town, whispering instructions to them to keep an eyes out for what could be hidden in the town that the crew would like to have...*
  • Winter Rain: As he comes up to the temple, he beckons to one of the priests
  • Storyteller: a priest comes
  • Winter Rain: "I want you to tell the guard to keep on eye on those foreigners. The Realm was after them...and that could mean trouble."
  • Miakonda: *she mostly tries to avoid bringing too much notice to herself...an albino woman with silver tattoos brings enough attention as is.*
  • Winter Rain: "And send for Hawk's Gaze."
  • Storyteller: the townsfolk are polite and help you with what you need
  • Storyteller: Hawks Gaze sends his messanger boy back asking you what you need, since he is busy catologing the ship's information while talking with the first mate
  • Winter Rain: "He doesn't need any help from me. Just tell him to be on his guard." He tells the messenger boy.
  • Miakonda: *while her companions are scouting the town, picks up some supplies to make it look convincing that's what they needed from here was really supplies*
  • Storyteller: Walk stayed at the dock to take care of the harbor master
  • Winter Rain: With a sigh, Winter Rain returns to the next ritual...but in the middle, he gets an idea...
  • Winter Rain: He pulls out some of his prayer strips and burns them in the sacred flame, chanting hymns to the god of the island
  • Miakonda: *she brings a few bags of rations and a few barrels of fresh water back to Walks* all settled with the harbor master?
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain waits...confident that Sunmist will listen to his entreaty
  • Storyteller: he hears your prayer
  • Storyteller: and you hear back "it is good"
  • Storyteller: and that's it
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain blinks...then bows to the flame and sings the song of thanksgiving.
  • Storyteller: Walker nods up to a tall watchtower, "not quite"
  • Winter Rain: "Hmm..." he says to himself...
  • Miakonda: I could take care of that for you, if you want...*grins*
  • Storyteller: oh? *he raises a brow*
  • Miakonda: *she nods and casually slides her thumb nail across her throat*
  • Winter Rain: Continues performing the ritual, eagerly awaiting sunset when he will finally have time to himself
  • Storyteller: No, that’s quite alright
  • Miakonda: *shrugs* have it your way. Burns report back yet?
  • Winter Rain: And when he can check the old and moldering temple library for a reference to those strange silver tattoos on the beautiful woman he saw...
  • Storyteller: No, he hasn't
  • Storyteller: *grins* maybe one of the locals took him in to nurse him well again
  • Miakonda: *she rolls her eyes* not with his face...I'd better go find him...he will try to get one of them to take care of him instead of what he's supposed to be doing.
  • Miakonda: *scurries off, trying the temple first*
  • Winter Rain: "For your glory, O God of the Sun, do we perform this sacrifice, as our ancestors did before us since first You rose into the sky to light our way (etc, etc, etc)"
  • Winter Rain: "...and we" He pauses. "Are you looking for something?"
  • Storyteller: you stumble into your host, chanting
  • Winter Rain: Winter Rain is dressed in full ceremonial regalia
  • Storyteller: and you notice he's praying to the sun
  • Storyteller: and you suddenly thing "immaculate! "
  • Miakonda: *looks nervous suddenly* was just checking to see if my crew member has wandered here...didn't mean to interrupt *backs away carefully*
  • Winter Rain: "Is something wrong?"
  • Miakonda: No, priest, just not one to anger the gods...*leaves, taking in what few treasures she can see and remembering them for later use*
  • Winter Rain: Looks after her, his eyes narrowing. "Good it may be, but that one will bear watching..."
  • Miakonda: *goes back through the shops, searching for Burns*
  • Winter Rain: *ritual, ritual, ritual*
