Triptych

This was my first idea for a starter, and definitely the most "high-art" concept of the bunch. Couldn't make it work.

My original notes for the story got deleted, but that's okay because they were mostly in my head, anyway.

The story would unfold in three parallel threads, each one following a different character.

1. Sad Ivory, BaronSamedi's least favorite Sidereal, has a crisis of faith following her disastrous encounter with Lilith (which she barely survives in this particular continuity). She learns that the entire thing was a setup -- Jorst was in on it, as was Chejop -- designed to kill her off. Since she killed a Gold Faction Sidereal, the entire Gold Faction has been screaming for her blood, and Chejop has decided she's a dangerous loose cannon. When she straggles back to report, he says some mean things which make her question the validity of her worldview. She loses her job to a Gold Faction member, who sends her off on an obvious suicide mission. This is not one of those days when Ahn-Aru gets to be Happy Ivory.\\ I thought I could do some neat imagery with ivory and scrimshaw; the hilts of her swords, jewelry, knickknacks, and so forth.

2. An Ex-Immaculate Monk, who abandoned the teachings of the Order and is now actually married to a Lunar sorcerer, heads off after the same Solar as SI; her husband was the Solar's spouse in a past life, and needs to make recompense for past sins. The task of tracking the Solar down falls to her, since he needs to go off to Ma-Ha-Suchi's Grand Moot to oppose whatever madness the goatman is proposing this time. \\ This character was going to wear a long moonsilver ribbon around her waist, which did double duty as a wacky martial arts weapon.

3. A Solar, who wasn't particularly defined except that he came from the Southeast. I was losing momentum on this idea by the time I got to him, so he's the least fleshed-out. I thought that maybe he could actually be part of a Circle, who were maybe doing a Bull of the North type thing down on the savannah. He was going to be Zulu-themed, with a spear and one of those cool hide shields. I figured his Zenith could have sent him out to find the MacGuffin Solar, who was probably a member of the Circle who'd been captured by a Deathlord or some other massive threat.

The main theme of this one was going to be faith, with the various characters each representing a different view of things. SI would be feeling doubt for the first time in a very long time, the Solar would be full of conviction, and the DB would be someone who'd kept to her principles even though she found out that the Immaculate Order lied about some fairly important things.

why not just do the story with Sad Ivory alone that one sounds very cool.\\ HeWhoSpeaksOfDarkness
