Most people think of rats as nothing more than vicious disease carrying vermin. Not many in creation have anything good to say about rats, but those who choose to emulate them care little about their opinions. They admire the rats for their resilience and their persistence in getting what they want. Celestial rats are considered by most of the martial arts world to be dirty fighters, they take any advantage they can get and exploit it over and over again. Many a martial artist has lectured a rat on their lack of scruples only to be laughed at and have their sense of honor exploited.
Weapons and Armor: Though it is in their nature to take any advantage rats are most at home with knives and whips and may use them and their artifact counterparts as form weapons.
Additional Skills: No additional skills are needed to follow the path of the rat but many build up their resistance due to the practice of being exposed to poison and disease.


Vermin Immunity Method

Rats are around toxins and disease so much that they become resistant to many of them. Celestial rats learn techniques to emulate the rat’s resistance. This charm can be activated in response to a resistance roll involving toxins, poison or disease, the martial artist may add their martial arts score to their resistance for that roll.


Devious Sleight Maneuver

The rat takes advantage of a situation by kicking dirt at an opponents face flinging debris in their path or even flashing their anima in their opponents eyes it doesn’t matter how it is accomplished only that it is. As a result the opponent targeted by this charm suffers a 2 dice external penalty on their next action.

The rat fights dirty and it is difficult for their opponents to gain an upper hand. There is no real formal stance to this form type but all celestial rats fight tooth and nail to accomplish their goals. Any opponent of the rat suffers a 2 dice external penalty when attacking. The rat is also creative in their use of underhanded tactics whenever the player successfully stunts using a description of an underhanded or dirty trick they may reflexively spend 1 mote per dice to convert the stunt dice into automatic successes.


Sneaky Rat Technique

Rats are fast and agile and fit places you wouldn’t expect them to, as a result they often can be hard to track. This charm supplements any attempt by the martial artist to either conceal themselves or reestablish surprise adding a number of dice equal to their permanent essence to the roll. This charm may also be used to add the Rats martial arts score to the raw damage of an already unexpected attack.

The rat is an opportunist, sometimes this means delaying things to wait for a better time and sometimes it means acting now when the moment is ripe. This charm supplements an unarmed martial arts attack in one of two ways for every mote spent the rat can decrease the DV penalty of the attack by one (to a minimum of 1) or it can lower the speed of the attack by one (to a minimum of 3).


Swarming Rodent Prana

Few people wish to assist a rat as a result they must rely on themselves most of the time. This charm creates a magical flurry with a number of attacks equal to the martial artists permanent essence, these attacks do not suffer from extra action penalties and have a DV penalty equal only to the highest one of the attacks taken but all the attacks must be directed at a single target. Furthermore the flurry happens with such speed that it appears to the average observer to all happen at once resulting in the target suffering coordinated attack penalties instead of onslaught penalties.


Knife Twisting Technique

The rat assesses the situation and finds a way to exploit it even further, to this end they learn to slap broken bones or throw dirt into open wounds to cause them to be even more painful. This Charm is an unarmed martial arts attack that if successful deals no damage but instead doubles the targets existing wound penalties for a number of ticks equal to the characters Martial Arts + Essence.


Under Your Skin Attack

Rats can get into the most inconvenient of places through small cracks and openings. This is no different when dealing with armor. When supplementing an unarmed martial arts attack with this charm the martial artist makes the damage from that attack piercing (or ignoring soak altogether if it was already piercing). Additionally the damage is lethal if it is not already and the martial artist can parry lethal damage until their next action without a stunt.


Plague Bite

Rats are infamous for carrying disease and true to their chosen animal to emulate so are the practitioners of the Celestial Rat Style. This charm takes the form of an unarmed martial arts attack that must make contact with the victim to take effect. The attack deals no damage but infects the target with a second circle spiritual disease known only as rat bite fever. Upon infection and every 7 ticks after the target must make a (Resistance + Stamina) rolls or begin suffering fevers aches and eventually painful red sores. Every time the roll is failed the target suffers a –1 internal penalty due to the effects of the disease when the penalty reaches –4 the victim falls unconscious. After that point the rolls are spaced out to once a day and failure results in 1 level of bashing damage being dealt to the victim. If at any point the victim succeeds three times at their (Resistance + Stamina) roll the disease leaves their body. If they are unconscious they wake up, damage dealt by the disease heals normally and the penalties will go away at a rate of –1 per scene starting with the scene they recover.
