Veet/Celestial Rabbit Style

From Exalted - Unofficial Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Not many in creation have more enemies than the rabbit, and not many have more ways of avoiding danger. The Celestial Rabbit Style martial art emulates many of the ways the rabbit moves and plans to avoid danger to serve as a somewhat passive martial arts style. The philosophy of the rabbit is to avoid trouble rather than confront it, to run away and only fight when absolutely necessary.

This form is still practiced in some small corners of creation; the chosen of journeys as well as some exalted athletes enjoy it for its spectacular movement charms, pacifists enjoy its nonviolent style and there is rumor of a rabbit totem lunar trickster who employs charms matching the description of this style.

Weapons and Armor: Though not an offensive martial art in nature, practitioners of Rabbit Style may use staves, nunchucks and seven section staves as form weapons as well as their artifact counterparts.

Additional Skills: Rabbit Style has a strong emphasis on movement and avoidance; no self-respecting practitioner would ever attempt to learn this style with less than two dots in both athletics and dodge.

Prerequisite Charms: none

The rabbit knows that his enemies are more powerful than himself and that fighting head-on will result in his inevitable demise, but the rabbit uses his fear to fuel his defense and his inevitable escape. The martial artist makes an unarmed martial arts counterattack that resolves before damage is calculated. The counterattack does no damage but each extra success on this attack negates a success on the incoming attack. This action is considered a counterattack and therefore is not applicable against other counterattacks.

These actions are expressly allowed to ignore the limit of one move action per turn.

The clever rabbit is ready to flee from any attack no mater how strong or vicious. This charm is activated when the martial artist uses their dodge DV against an incoming attack allowing them to take an immediate jump action using their full jump movement regardless of weather or not they already have that tick. The martial artist may add up to their permanent essence to their dodge DV against the incoming attack and, if their jump takes them out of range of the attacker the any subsequent attacks in a flurry are canceled. This action is considered a counterattack and therefore is not applicable against other counterattacks.
