Bonus Points – Concept:
Bonus points, to a large extent, represent the fluid resources of a society. They are the most vulnerable to being targeted for control by outside sources. Bonus Points can sometimes be removed – various actions that “cost” societal resources may incur these costs. These costs are restored (slowly) in time at the rate of 1/turn, or alternatively a domain may take the Reconstruction action to recover them. Bonus points come in two types: Permanent and Temporary. Permanent Bonus Points represent the infrastructure and investment of a Dominion. Temporary Bonus points are reduced every turn, and reflect things such as treasuries, short-term market gluts, and the spoils of raids and wars. Bonus Points are recorded as spent and unspent. Any losses are subtracted first from Unspent Temporary Bonus Points, then from Spent Temporary Bonus Points, then from Unspent Permanent Bonus Points, and finally from Spent Permanent Bonus points. Thus, it is advantageous to possess some unspent bonus points, as it allows the society some flexibility.
Lost Bonus Points
Lost bonus points restore during the Recovery phase, although they can also be regained through the recovery action.
Lost Attribute points
Every time an Attribute point is lost, 4 points are subtracted from the bonus points pool (permanent or temporary). This reflects the cost that restoring that attribute would inflict on that domain. Lost Attribute points are restored at the rate of 1 each per Recovery Phase (this does not restore the lost bonus points however).
