Thus Spake Zargrabowski/HGDAndOrchDaiklaves

The wording of the Charm is very clear. "The character may block, without his player rolling, any one attack against him that he is aware of, even if the attack is not normally blockable [and then some examples]".

Is it going to be applied against him as an attack, that is, damage against his soak? If so, Heavenly Guardian Defense blocks it. The emphasis lent in the Errata is deliberate. They're called "perfect" defenses for a reason.

Now what Heavenly Guardian Defense will not block is any resulting environmental effects. While he could ractivate it to stop the falling ceiling or something, but he'd still be down there under n+1 tons of rubble, he just wouldn't take damage from the ceiling. Likewise, the spill of horrible green MAKO energy (or whatever) that runs out of the shattered reactor hull will still do X damage per turn to him, just like he was standing in a bonfire. Also, if he's wielding a mortal blade, it will probably perish immediately after he uses it to block the first improbable attack, so he'd better have a daiklave unless he has a very clever answer to the falling ceiling situation. I'd agree that nuclear explosions cannot generally be dodged, at least not without a stunt.

They're designed for that sort of duty; that's why Exalts use them. Look at it from the Exalted scale -- it's /just/ a nuclear reactor. Unless it was built out of the Magical Materials with epic feats and the sacrifices of thousands of lives, why would it be able to damage a weapon of legend like an orichalcum grand daiklave, which is a named and honored companion to a Celestial hero?
