Thus Spake Zaranephilpal/TerrestrialMartialArtsAndPerfection
For the record:
No martial art has an elemental aspect unless it explicitly says it does. The only aspected martial arts so far are Jade Mountain and the Immaculate arts. Consider the text in AB:E a revision based on a more unified vision of how MA Charms actually work.
That's canon.
Also, a perfect defense is a defense that provides total and certain protection for a fixed cost according to its mode. You pay X and in exchange, you don't roll a defense. You just avoid the attack. Seven Shadow Evasion is a perfect defense. However, the applicability of perfection still applies. If the attack cannot be dodged, then Seven Shadow Evasion cannot dodge it. Period. Heavenly Guardian Defense is actually the exception, since it is capable of parrying the unblockable as per its specific effects. Most perfect defenses do not receive this perk.
Unfortunately, there is no official term to differentiate the handful of perfect defenses that trump applicability restrictions from the rest. I've personally used the term "Transcendently Perfect" for these effects when talking to other authors or making posts, but that isn't official by any stretch. Perhaps the term might prove useful to you or maybe you can come up with something better.
I hope that's of some help.
